Papa got crushing done. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & Berti went to Belleville to a Auction sale, of late Hy. Schoepp, bought all kids thrash, etc. got coat hangers 49-10¢. They had supper here. Henry & Leona left kids here, & went to Belleville brought Bernice Mehrmann along out. George Wagner’s family came this evening. Clarence Wittenauer paid $3.00 balance on ball ground today for last yr. Wagner’s cooked two kettles soap this morning.

We cooked kettle soap. Papa went out too Uncle Fred also to Waterloo on business. The baseball club is giving a dance in Waterloo barn tonight, All Buchon’s band. Mr. Marshall Hill of Smithon [sic] have a little baby girl born, at the hospital at 3 o’clock this morning. Papa had dinner out at Uncle Freds. Robert Laut was here, wanted pap to vote for him, school election today, he is running for director. Clarence Wittenauer came to see papa about ball grounds, wether [sic] it was rented or not. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, made garden up here. Ted Eichenseer came down electioneering, him & Lester Gregson are running for town clerk to be next Tues. Robert Laut 30 votes won for school director, Wm Weigand 10 votes was running against him. Thresher boss meeting at Belleville this afternoon. Planted potatoes, at the Irish road.

Light frost last night, & Boy! it is cold this morning. Papa went to Red Bud got 100 lb. sack chick starting $3.00 from the hatchery. He went out, woods got load posts & hauled them up here. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up to fix her dress, was here for supper, she got dress goods in Belleville for us, & black what she is making for herself, & a spring coat. Hy. Armstutz was here a little while, to see if he could plant sugar cane on our ground. Mr. & Mrs. Reuben Kammler have a little baby girl 7½ lb. born to them at there home 500 State St. Bellville [sic] Tues. Apr. 10 it will be named Miariam Louise, Mrs. was formerly Edith Montgomery of Cypress Ill; he is teaching Fairview school, on the Belleville & Millstadt road. Eggs 13¢.

Papa went up in woods. Willie Ganley is going to haul logs this morning. Started the fire in brooder house, Thurs. our chicks come. Mrs. George Haudrich got operated on appendix & tumor & is in a serious condition in Hospital at Belleville. The Sewing Club of Red Bud are giving a euchre, 500 & lotto tonite in the parish hall. Mr. Emil Rubel was here counted the pigs to see if it corresponce [sic] with that contract. Mrs. Rennecker brought some flower over, dalias [sic] etc. Clara Wagner & kids were here awhile. Gus Frisch came wanted to see if pap was going to vote. Today is Primary Election. We cooked kettle soap, cleaned upstairs. We went to the euchre, didn’t get no prizes. Bert had 8 points but no prizes. Bobby Cowell received attendance prize a small rug. The quilt was won by Mr. & Mrs. Joe Mauer’s youngest child.

Papa & Rosalia went in the woods again this morn. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up to pay tax; were here for dinner & supper. Papa & Uncle Fred went up to the woods this afternoon with the mule & Henry’s mare, worked fine. Aunt Mary went up to see Louise Birkner awhile, she is worse again, they quit Dr. Eckert now & Pautler from Red Bud. Louie was there today. It was in the Bellville [sic] paper tonite, that suit to foreclose a $4100 mortgage on real estate in East St. Louis was filed in court by Peter Reheis against Louisa Fritsche & Joe Herzog.

Holy Thursday. Went to high mass, 9 o’clock, & Aunt Mary was here for breakfast & dinner. Uncle went home, came back again this afternoon & went to Belleville shopping. Rosalia went to Hecker, got 14¢ for eggs, got 50# flour. Mrs. Kroll moved to Waterloo.

Armin Geodelle was here, looked at our pigs & is going to take 4. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this afternoon, Uncle Fred stayed here, the rest of us went to Bellville [sic], bought new dresses $5.85 + $2.98 they had supper here, then we all went to Red Bud, went to Dr. Paulter first, then to church, & Buehler’s. Today was last day for old license.

Robert Laut & Joe Watchel got Rob’s hog this morning, took it to Eichenseers got it weighed 439 lbs. We went in the woods all day. This evening planted onions sets, radishes, lettuce in garden. It is in the paper that Lester Bruns & Melissa Weigand will be married Easter Monday & that he bought some land from Levi Gregson. Pete Gardener Sr. Undertaker of Belleville died last night, got sick Mon. evening with a cold & it turned to pneoumina [sic], had heart stroke & died, will be buried Mon. afternoon on account St. Joseph’s Day, no funeral, to St. Luke’s Church Bellville [sic]. Mass will be said.
