Pap & Bert [Bertille] went to Leo’s, he helped load hogs went along to Belleville had 3 – 4% lbs. $10.60, had dinner. Bert helped for pinic [sic]. They have Catholic Church pinic [sic] today chicken supper. We went up this eve. had nice crowd. Bert won $2.45 bluey stand. Skaers, Rheinhardt & Schoenborn furnished music. The prizes were raffled to $10.00 New Baden; 100 lbs. sugar, Louis Schoenborn, Paderborn, quilt – Belleville, Aladin [sic – Aladdin] Lamp to Mrs. Geo. Klein Paderborn, 100 lbs. flour – Schmidt Pete of Waterloo, 17 piece water set, Leister mail carrier Waterloo, 50 lbs. flour Belleville 24 lb. flour Atella [?] Rheinhardt. Bed Spread & pillow slip Belleville.

Pap went to Belleville dentist. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came she helped can bu. peaches. Chris Buehler stopped in, going to take bu. peaches along to St. Louis tomorrow for Mary Hagen.

Went to Red Bud. Leo & Rose came picked peaches, canned few this afternoon, had dinner & supper. Bert [Bertille] went along home with them, then to Smithton took peaches in, then went to Floraville at Boeker’s free dance, music by Schmidts, big crowd. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary went to Columbia Home Coming. KWK radio stars did the intertaining [sic – entertaining], A. Mary put a request in for Rose birthday Sat. morn. Dream bot comes Home.

Picked peaches, etc. Mrs. Jake Neff got bu. this morn. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came Bert [Bertille] went along to sales at Hoffmann at Red Bud then out to J. Mays by Oak Grove; some things brought fair price. May Auctioneer, James clerk. Free dance at Keimes tonite; musci [sic] by Skaers Orch. Uncle Fred & A. Mary came Bert went along, nice crowd & hot. Schoenborn & Rehling had scrap.

Berniece brought the egg basket over, Mehrmann got 10 doz. eggs. @ 18¢. Cooking catsup, perserves [sic] made coffee cake. Canned 3 qts tomatoes & 3 peaches yesterday. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came cut lawn, puled [sic] 2 gals. peaches for her. Ruhl came measured land. Mrs. Martin Karban came this eve. wanted peaches, but we didn’t have any picked past then & to dark to pick.

Made 28 bottles catsup; got 81 so far. Picked 5 bus. peaches. Bert Thompson got 1 bu. Al. Rausch brought a letter here from Rose [Rosalia]. Eichenseer got 2 bus. peaches for Walter Pour; took them to store. The Catholic Church pinic [sic] at Waterloo today. Lester Gregson came to see about hauling lime dust, but he takes not less than 50¢, thats high. Gypsy Joe sang a piece for Mrs. L. Matthews & Arlene, Mr & Mrs. Shloemmer requested by Mrs. Jake Geodelle. Pretty hot 91° degrees. Pap paid electric bill 5 hrs. this mon. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came here. Leo & Rose came, we all went to Waterloo Catholic church pinic [sic] nice crowd. Waterloo band & St. Peter & Paul’s Orchestra sure nice.

Cut in 7 qts kraut. Uncle Fred came, Bert [Bertille] went along to Waterloo, with him. Washed ironed this afternoon; cut tomatoes 1 bu. for catsup. Pap dug all our potatoes. Circus at Waterloo today & nite. Walter Pour was here wanted peaches; didn’t have none right now. Pap went down to see Louis Armstutz about lime dust. Eggs 18½ ¢ now.

Rose came A. [Aunt] Mary & Josie stayed last nite, out. we canned 4 doz. qts peaches, & made preserves, 3 doz. for Rose; cooked 12 bottles catsup, canned 2 qts. Uncle Fred went & got Leo, all here for supper, had spring chicken 2 celebrating Wedd. Ann. [of Uncle Fred and Aunt Mary] Henry & family came here yet, got bu. peaches. S. Rennecker got bu. to said they were to green yet & we thought to ripe. Clara Wagner came, wanted peaches to; gave them mushmelon & watermelon.

Went to mass. Peeled peaches soft ones. Leo & Rose came, went along to A. [Aunt] Marys for dinner & supper & watermelon lunch. Bert [Bertille] put peac [?] on radio on polish hr. the 39 wedding Ann. tomorrow, Chris Buehlers heard that, & came to there this afternoon. Josie was out also, brought big watermelon along. Mrs. Rennecker & Mrs. Bert Thompson came looked at peaches ordered some. Sure a beautiful day, so nice & cool all day. The Hecker Catholic church pinic [sic] cleared $980.90 last Tues. pretty good for that eve.
