Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1937

Went to Leo’s & Rose [Rosalia] butchering 2 hogs. Jake helped awhile had to go home Earl came to fix him a brick foundation for kettle. We had lunch, dinner & supper & sugar cured meat & played 6 hand pinochle in eve. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stayed also, they left there car set by Jake’s to much mud. Mr. Orlets birthday today 73 yrs.

Monday, Nov. 29, 1937

Henry & family & Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & we each butchered 1 hog here, 179 lbs. & 168 lbs. – 170 lbs.; had lunch, dinner & supper. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] helped also. Emil came over awhile. Aug. Grahlerr Mrs. Joe Watchels father died will be buried Wed. morning at Hecker. We got 8½ for hogs today. Schmidt brought sack feed & articles down.

Sunday, Nov. 28, 1937

Went to mass. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came down for dinner. We got a book as souvenir, from diamond jubilee; the Bischoff [Bishop?] receives $75.00. on that occassion [sic], & banquet, they had 3 turkeys.

Saturday, Nov. 27, 1937

Beautiful day. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & pap went to Mrs. Hy. Miller’s sale pap bought plow $4.10 C. Buehler brought it along home, for 25¢. Bert [Bertille] went to town paid light bill $1.16. Eggs are down 25¢ here at store, radio is 23 & 27¢. Henry & family came this eve. played cards, starting in raining & snowing.

Friday, Nov. 26, 1937

Bernice got eggs. @ 26¢. Pap went out on business trip. Lester Mehrmann & Geradline [sic – Geraldine] Werling were married yesterday eve. at 5 o clock candle light wedding. Vic Papenberg is hauling sand for Rob. Laut’s to build new house in spring. Roy Staufenbiel & Jake. Ed. Schnieder were visiting Emil tonite at 12 o clock she called wanted to know if Roy was still here but just then he came home.

Thursday, Nov. 25, 1937

Thanksgiving Day. Bert [Bertille] went up to church for awhile to Wedding mass of Oliver Qurin’s & Edith Klinkchardt, all white dress with train & long veil. Grohmans flower girl; & Viola Qurin, blue dress & Dorthy Klinkhardt rust colored dress, long acted as bridesmaids & Quintian Klinkhardt, 2 brother & Eugene Neff friend as best man. Bert [Bertille] went to wedding dance at Kammler’s, large crowd & received many presents, Schoenborn Och; served sandwiches & cake. We went to 10 o clock mass at Red Bud, 75 Diamond Jubiliee, Bishop was met here in Hecker. 32 priests had dinner there 3 turkeys. Went to Paderborn this afternoon to see Connor’s & F. Schilling. Sure beautiful weather these days, nice warm.

Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1937

We went to Waterloo, pap ordered an overcoat from Priper [?- unclear] $13. Bert [Bertille] went along with Wagner’s to Floraville, to Hilda Keim’s & Horn wedding dance, at Keims hall awful large crowd. girls played musci [sic].

Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1937

Patched. Went to Belleville. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came up, went to euchre in School hall, given by Altar Sodality. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came brought there mollasses [sic] down to Hy. Armstutz $1 gal. we played pinochle; warmer again today. Euchre in Waterloo tonite.

Monday, Nov. 22, 1937

We washed, ironed. Ed. Kreher & Hy. Kettler brought the colt, got ours; 14 degrees again this morn. Nice Sunshine, pap hauled 3 loads woods this afternoon. Clevelands cutting chop today.

Sunday, Nov. 21, 1937

Went to mass. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stopped in awhile cold, 14 degrees this morn. Ed. Kreher was here looked at colt. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came, we played cards. Uncle & pap went out to see Ed. Krehers colt, they traded, pap got colt & $30.00, he got ours. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came this eve. we played pinochle, 4 games. Eggs 26¢.
