The parade will be at 1 o’clock. They are going to have a direble (?) out at Breezy Hill. $5 for 20 min. This morning Sam Krehrer & wife, Josie & Lee Gregson were all here. Sam & wife looked for water & we all watched them. They made the stick bent. After dinner we all went in to see the parade & stayed for the evening.

Papa, Rosalia, Bertille went to Albert Strohd (?) sale by Waterloo. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were also there. We all bought a few things, dishes, glassware, incubator. In the evening Henry & family were all here. This evening the Waterloo Home Coming starts with a dance.

Today is “Billy” Kammler’s birthday. He is 2 yrs. old. Gus Hempe and a man from St. Joe were here this afternoon & got our little colt for $40.00. They didn’t have it so nice to load her, she wasn’t used to any trucks. They got her on & away they went. Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s to got a load of wheat, then Papa went to Red Bud with it. Mr. & Mrs. Mike Wedel had a accident near by Waterloo, when they were crowded off of the hard road. The Hecker School will open on Tuesday, Sept. 2 Gregory Mcarthy teacher. Broad Hollow on Sept. 2 by Miss Mary Havey teacher. McQuillen School Sept. 2 by Miss Lela Deuker teacher. Hirst School Sept. 2 by Miss Ethel Deuker teacher. Papa went to cut corn but he came back about 8:30. Bertille went up town to get coal oil and a few things. Mrs. Ed Meng & Clifford went to do Belleville shopping and visiting today. Papa went back to see Hempe’s after dinner. I seen in the paper that Mr. & Mrs. Anselm Krehrer celebrated their 25th Wedding anniversary on Sun. Aug. 24. All the relatives gathered to take part in the happy event. Rebumen [Ruben?] Kammler and a Dr. from Belleville motored to the Ozarks over the weekend. This evening we went out to Uncle Fred’s to help him unload & carry their victrola in the house. They were at Belleville this afternoon and bought one from Rhein’s for $10.00 with 18 records. They have 2 right nice pieces they are, “You Don’t It Not Much.” & “Lonesome Tonight.” Bertille read in the Republican paper Mr. Henry Eichleman & Doris Einwich were married Aug. 26 in Rev. Eschman’s parsonage. They took a honeymoon trip to South Dakota. Mrs. Elizabeth Krack died she was 88 years old. If she would of lived until Sunday she would have been 89 years. She stayed by Mrs. Hy. Hellmer her daughter. She was buried last Thursday morning. Otto Susewind & Catherine Schafer close friends of Ewinich and Eichleman were best man and bridesmaid. I seen in the paper that Hy. Biffar had a weed fire. It destroyed the house & barn on the premises of the Ahern Bros. who reside in St. Louis. With the help of some farmers ploying furrows around tracts. Besides the buildings, quite a bit of hay in the barn was also burned. Mrs. Alvin Franke nee Geodelle died and was buried Monday. She was 37 years old. And is survived by her husband & 2 children one son Hamilton and daughter Mary Louise. She also leaves four brothers Emil & Ted of St. Louis and Victor & Jacob of Waterloo & 4 sisters Mrs. Wm. Kolmer, Mrs. L. Matzenbacher, Mrs. Art. Bestman & Miss Olivia all of Waterloo, Ill. Mrs. Cornelia Petria is working at the knitting mill.

Rosalia went up to clean school today. Papa is cutting corn. Tonight is a dance at Weigands in the brick house. Milton Wagner & Henry Hillischeim is giving it. Milton & Lester Bruns stopped here last night when they went home from work and he invited us to come. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this evening and we all went down to the dance. Karl Boll furnished music. There were quite a few women cleaning the school today. Leona & Frances Schilling came up together. She left the kids here with me. Papa is cutting corn this afternoon again.

We washed, ironed, patched today. Today is Church Picnic at Ruma and one in Belleville. Papa went to Red Bud this morning with a load of wheat, he got .82¢ a bu. He took Bertille’s shoes along & got them patched for .75¢. Henry Armstutz was here a little while this evening & told Papa if he wanted to he could cut some of the corn. Rosalia went up to get the mail then she went over to see Mrs. Rennecker a little while. Mr. Dehn is still the same, he is getting absent minded now.

Today it is a year that Stella Griffin died. Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary came up this morning & Papa & Uncle Fred got rocks from the city lot & brought them here and laid crossings. Aunt Mary fixed Rosalia’s dress & then she dyed it purple. They were here for lunch, dinner, lunch. Leona was here this morning and brought Bobby & Floyd here, they stayed all day with us & this evening Henry & Leona came up after them.

Hempe’s were here this morning & look at our colt & horses. Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary were here for dinner. We had 2 watermelons for lunch. This afternoon Aunt Mary, Rosalia, Bertille went down to Lester Gregson’s to see the little boy. Wittenauer’s from Belleville were also there. Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary ate lunch, watermelons here, then they went home. After they was at home a little while she called up & said they was going to see Henry tonight. So we got ready and we all went out to Henry’s. Uncle Fred had his accordion along & music was the main feature of the evening.
Clarence Wittenauer up set his car in the ditch this evening, after coming from the ball game. But he wasn’t hurt, there was no glass broke, only the fenders & radiator hurt a little, the car was injured. Red Bud & Hecker played ball today, Hecker won. Willie Parkinson is very sick. He turned back Catholic again.

Papa went to a sale today by St. Joe. But he didn’t buy anything. In the evening we went out to Uncle Fred’s, it was their 32 year wedding anniversary. Henry & family & Christ Buehler’s family were there, we had lemonade. coffee, cakes, cookies, pies, doughnuts. Music was furnished by Christ Buehler, Henry Brand, Fred Birkner. The rest of us danced.

Papa, Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary, Rosalia went up to help clean things again. Hecker played ball with Waterloo Sunday. Hecker won. There is a big piece in the paper about the dedication of the new school. There were 40 priests here and 12 sisters. Gusta Dudenhoeffer and some people came she came with from St. Louis were out, they were down at the house a little while. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here for dinner.
