It is awful cool this morning. George Reheis was here this afternoon with Ronederberg’s horses & got our lime dust spreader. Papa was hauling wood today. There is a sale by Millstadt & Saxtown, it is Mrs. Charles Scrugg’s. Bertille got the mail this evening, the parcel post package from Chicago Mail Order came.

Papa went over to Ed Meng’s to get the grass mower this morning, he is going to cut the grass on the north side of the house. Rosalia & Bertille washed today. Papa is hauling wood this afternoon. Rosalia got the mail & took 8 doz. eggs to the store & got .24¢ a doz.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Henry & family were all up for church this morning & went back home again. Ed Meng was over a little while this evening. There sure were a lot of cars passed here today.

Henry was here this morning. Today is Leona’s birthday, she is 20 yrs. old and is going to have a celebration tonight at Breezy Hill. Papa went to Waterloo this morning & afternoon to get the batteries for the Chevrolet. We all went to Breezy Hill tonight. Frank Dudenhoeffer & wife, Val Adam’s & wife & girl. Leona received many and all kinds of presents. There sure was a crowd there after the circus was over in town.

Henry & Leona came up this morning, they brought Bobby & Floyd here, & then they went up to Belleville. They all had dinner with us. Papa went down & cut the cemetery grass this afternoon & then he got a load of wood. Philip Braun is starting to put Elmer Kammler’s roof on today, Robert Laut & Ed Neff are helping him. Today is Charles Schilling’s birhtday he is going to be 17 or 18, I don’t know which.

Today the teacher’s have institute in Monroe Co. Papa went over to Steve Rennecker’s awhile last evening. Rosalia & Bertille went to church this morning. Mr. Feldmeier was here this afternoon and looked at our horses. But he didn’t want them. Papa went to Belleville this afternoon. I seen in the paper that Mrs. Alfred Stahl was ill & Miss Luella Pfeiffer is working there. Last Sat. Eichenseer’s has a new roof put on the barn. Jacob Helfrich did the work. Mr. & Mrs. George Wagner and family spent last Sunday at Forest Park in St. Louis. George Gambach will sell out and retire from merchandise business. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here this evening, they brought a watermelon along, we ate it, it tasted good. Bertille took 6 doz. eggs off and got .23¢ a dozen.

Rosalia & Bertille went to church this morning. It is raining again this morning. Papa went to Waterloo today. Bertille mailed the letter to Chicago Mail Order. Bertille got the mail & then we went down to see Deuker’s. They had company from St. Louis for a little while. Miss Mason the teacher from the upper school was also there. We 5 played ruma and then we played bunco.

Rosalia & Bertille went to church this morning. Aunt Mary was there too she came up with Oscar’s wife & Frank’s wife, Emma, then after church they & Emma Eckert, Lena Birkner, & Louise Birkner all went down to Christ Buehler’s to help quilt. We had chicken for dinner today. Talk is spread that George Lorberg is going to move in Henry Braun’s house in Hecker and he is going to attend to the farm at home, Mrs. Lorberg wanted to move downstairs, so I guess that is why they have to move. John Reagan is going to move in Mrs. Stauenbiel place in half the house. Papa furnished plowing this morning. Eggs are .24¢ at present. We sold 4 dozen last night. It is raining this afternoon. Bertille got the mail this evening. Papa went up to the bank this afternoon and then he went down to the Sorghum Mill. Steve Rennecker was fixing the machine they are going to start soon.

We washed, ironed, patched today. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here this afternoon a little while, from here they went to Red Bud to Chris Buehler’s, it is their wedding anniversary. Oliver Kammler is playing accordion over at George Wagner’s. Ralph Ettling was here, he paid his $98.00, he still has a $100.00 to paid yet. Peter Watchel had a accident by Grohmann’s lane up by Belleville. He was by himself when it happened, but he didn’t get hurt so very much, because he went to work again today the way they say.

We all went to early mass this morning. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went to Floraville to the church picnic. Mr. Carr was here from Renault, he asked the way to Bill Geodelle, to buy a team of horses. Tonight we all went to the picture show the name of it was Rin Tin Tin. Admission .25 and .10¢. At Recess Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary left for the dance down at Weber’s barn. It was a surprise party for Mrs. Weber. Today is Jake Reheis birthday. After the show this evening they raffled out the cards from the picnic. The lucky winners were, Hy. Schneider from Waterloo, John Braun 2 times, Louisa Braun, Peter Kaiser, Joe Kaiser, Oscar Schmidt from Valmeyer, Fred W. Birkner he got a pair of pillow cases. Hecker played ball with St. Louis and won 20 to 4.
