Went to mass. Raining heavy this morn. till about 8 : o clock. Bill [Klein] came, & we went along to, met Leo’s on way he took his car left it stand by Jake’s, we all went to St. Louis to Forest Park & Highlands, also called on Mr & Mrs Geo. & Gusta. Ducen, they are back from their honeymoon trip from World’s Fair. Val & family were gone out to Pinic [sic]. we didn’t see them. came back went to Leo’s, had supper there. We had dinner along we ate before we went around zoo.

Nice cloudy cool. Went to Waterloo, sold some chances for Red Bud Church Pinic [sic]. Dr. N. B. Pautler 67 died will be buried tomorrow morn; mass & cemetery at Waterloo, was sick for 3 yrs; Bert [Bertille] went down to Wagner’s Funeral Parlor to see him, so many flowers. looks good, 2 sons were there just then. Steve & Ray. Feruer brought sack pullets for chixs down. Bill [Klein] stopped in want to go to St. Louis Sun. to Forest Park.

Leo & family & pap went to Henry’s for dinner & supper. Bill [Klein] & Bertille & Bertha Karban went to St. Louis to see Forest Park zoo Highlands; went to Totsches tonite. Raining a little this morning.

Sunday, Nov. 18, 1934

We went to Waterloo to mas, after that Bill Freund drove our car, over to St. Louis to Josie Keller, we had dinner & supper there, bill & us kids, went to Forest Park, & to see Lindy’s thropies [sic]; it was beautiful, the rest of them played cards; the people sure did give Lindibergh [sic – Charles Lindbergh] some beautiful presents; when we came back; we stopped at Pautler Dance, and Oh! Boy was it good; we brought Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary along back; Uncle Fred 60 yr. birthday today, celebrated at Waterloo.

Thursday, Sept. 25, 1930

Today the teacher’s have institute in Monroe Co.  Papa went over to Steve Rennecker’s awhile last evening.  Rosalia & Bertille went to church this morning.  Mr. Feldmeier was here this afternoon and looked at our horses.  But he didn’t want them.  Papa went to Belleville this afternoon.  I seen in the paper that Mrs. Alfred Stahl was ill & Miss Luella Pfeiffer is working there.  Last Sat. Eichenseer’s has a new roof put on the barn.  Jacob Helfrich did the work.  Mr. & Mrs. George Wagner and family spent last Sunday at Forest Park in St. Louis.  George Gambach will sell out and retire from merchandise business.  Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here this evening, they brought a watermelon along, we ate it, it tasted good.  Bertille took 6 doz. eggs off and got .23¢ a dozen.
