Bert [Bertille] washed, etc. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came, he & pap hauled sand from woods, with wagon & truck; had dinner & supper here, this afternoon Leo hauled 2 loads wheat – 76 [cents]. Feruer brought load corn. We lost one of our horses, bleed so bad out of mouth up in woods; died this eve; got it home; Johnsons came this eve to get it. Marita stayed here all nite, again. Chicago Mail Order came, everything O.K. but curtain not like ordered.

Feruer brought 33 bus. wheat, but still some more to come yet. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stopped, went to Adam Eckerts threshing this morn. Pete Matzenbacher has sale today. Feruer brought rest of wheat 65 bus. in all we got. Went to Leo’s this afternoon, threshed oats got 173 bus. had them for supper; brought Kettlers 6 loads over & threshed them there, didn’t have to move back there then. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came to in evening; went through good [? – unclear].

Nice cloudy cool. Went to Waterloo, sold some chances for Red Bud Church Pinic [sic]. Dr. N. B. Pautler 67 died will be buried tomorrow morn; mass & cemetery at Waterloo, was sick for 3 yrs; Bert [Bertille] went down to Wagner’s Funeral Parlor to see him, so many flowers. looks good, 2 sons were there just then. Steve & Ray. Feruer brought sack pullets for chixs down. Bill [Klein] stopped in want to go to St. Louis Sun. to Forest Park.

Cloudy, with April showers. Pap took chev. to Red Bud, got oil changed etc, 3040 miles. Feruer was here, he signed the apliance paper at Kammlers & so pap had to go to sign. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came, they were at Smithton bank paid taxes. Mauff vegetable agent was here we bought doz. oranges. Leo & family came this eve. They were at Haudrichs wedding dance.
Saturday, Sept. 18, 1937
Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came, she went along to Belleville, went to dentist, should come back again next Tues. A. Mary got new hat. Henry came brought 2 sacks potatoes along went to get crushing done. Pap went down to see Hy. Feruer. U. [Uncle] Fred said was some people here to look at mule. Etling [sic] was here.
