Sunday, Oct. 15, 1939

Went to mass. Henry’s have a baby girl born at 4:30 this morn. Ella Simon is working there. We went out this afternoon, everybody is alright – baby 9 1/2 lbs. black hair. Bill [Klein] came had supper here, we went to Leo’s this eve. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stopped in there to, they were going to Totsch’s to free dance. Sure beautiful day, warm.

Nice day & warm. Uncle Fred was up working his corn. Pap got haircut. Eggs 13 [cents]. Awful hot today. People are all busy cutting oats & working corn; some combining. Totsch’s here, free dance & fish fry tonite again.

Beautiful day. Elvira Siebert (nee Jatho) have a baby girl. Leo & family came, we went along to Uncle Freds for dinner & supper. Mr. Haudrich was here on business. Smithton Turner pinic [sic] today, awful hot. Totsch’s has a free dance again tonite.

Leo & family & pap went to Henry’s for dinner & supper. Bill [Klein] & Bertille & Bertha Karban went to St. Louis to see Forest Park zoo Highlands; went to Totsches tonite. Raining a little this morning.

Went to Red Bud took Roscow’s along to church, have 2 collections every Sun. during mass. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stayed awhile, they went in to Waterloo see Milly Kroll also Mrs. Schrader. Mrs. Nick Welzbacher’s mother; was also laid out. Totsches have free dance.
