Saturday, Nov. 27, 1937

Beautiful day. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & pap went to Mrs. Hy. Miller’s sale pap bought plow $4.10 C. Buehler brought it along home, for 25¢. Bert [Bertille] went to town paid light bill $1.16. Eggs are down 25¢ here at store, radio is 23 & 27¢. Henry & family came this eve. played cards, starting in raining & snowing.

Monday, Oct. 25, 1937

Beautiful, so warm today. Washed, ironed, put up new curtain. Pap dug the garden over; assorted potatoes etc. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up this afternoon, he cut the mulberry tree of by garden fence, & trimmed up some trees. Emil & Clara were also there washing windows, scrubbing floors etc. Rained a little shower this eve. Bert [Bertille] went to Hecker, paid light bill 8 hrs. this time. Uncle Fred took bu. potatoes along 40¢ & gave them some turnips. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came to tell us they are going to cut chop tomorrow, they went to Smithton from here to get Leo’s dad, going to start early.

Another Beautiful day, pap fixing pen for little chixs. Bert [Bertille] baking bread etc. & cleaning. Light bill $1. for 9 hrs.

Friday, Feb. 19, 1937

Pap hauled in straw. Rose came down, helped quilt all day, had dinner here. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came to stayed awhile by Bikners this afternoon, Lena came here last night wanted to get him to come up, but they weren’t home, so she called Frieda to come up last nite. Pap got the mail; not much in the paper, Gilbert Dinan of Ames had twins born Sun; she is formerly Hilda Pretzilk – Franks daughter. The light bill is the same again $1.47 for Jan; same as last month.

Saturday, Nov. 21, 1936

Pap went to Waterloo this afternoon.We got the check from chickens $19.74 – some brought 14-12½ & 10½¢. shipping charges $1.00 & commission $1.09. this time. We paid light bill $1.35 this mo. Omer came this evening, he was in the hospital St. Mary for 4 days.
