Went out butchering at Henry’s had dinner. Oliver Ruhel was here, working on agricultural problems. Nice day.

Friday, Dec. 10, 1937

It is 12 above. in Montana 16 below. We went to confession & 2 high masses. Walter Wittenauer, was here, for A.A.A. sign up; contracts. Russel Baptists Myrtle Ruhel have baby boy. We went to Mission Devotion, blessing of Mission cross.

Saturday, Oct. 3, 1936

We had beef soup dinner. Henry & Rob were also here, he cut clover hay & put the alalafa [sic] up. Oliver Ruhel came to measure ground. Rob helped him, & stayed here. Henry’s family came this eve. to get him. Geo. Boll looked at the disk; Nic Helfrich came account of hauling coal. Mrs. Geo. Hartmann has a new barn dance tonite & pig roast, music by Rythmn [sic] Kings, Ladies free. Alois Roth & Gertie Cortner stopped in.

Monday, Dec. 17, 1934

We butchered 2 hogs; for Uncle Fred; Henry & family were also up, Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed in the evening, sugarcured hams & played cards, made carmel [sic] cookies. Virgil Eichenseer was here wanted to sell ticket for the school children’s play Thurs. nite; Oliver Ruhel was here to get signers to for the hog contract again. Uncle Freds hog weighed 245 lbs. @ $6.35. There is a ladies picture in the paper, where she is yawning, continously for 140 hrs; can’t stop. Clifford was here, told Henry, he has a colt for sale, he went & looked at it.

Tuesday, April 10, 1934

Papa went up in woods. Willie Ganley is going to haul logs this morning. Started the fire in brooder house, Thurs. our chicks come. Mrs. George Haudrich got operated on appendix & tumor & is in a serious condition in Hospital at Belleville. The Sewing Club of Red Bud are giving a euchre, 500 & lotto tonite in the parish hall. Mr. Emil Rubel was here counted the pigs to see if it corresponce [sic] with that contract. Mrs. Rennecker brought some flower over, dalias [sic] etc. Clara Wagner & kids were here awhile. Gus Frisch came wanted to see if pap was going to vote. Today is Primary Election. We cooked kettle soap, cleaned upstairs. We went to the euchre, didn’t get no prizes. Bert had 8 points but no prizes. Bobby Cowell received attendance prize a small rug. The quilt was won by Mr. & Mrs. Joe Mauer’s youngest child.
