Rosalia’s sewing, we washed a few pieces. A year today Aunt Lizzie died. Cloudy this morning. The 4-h Club of Hecker is going to Duquoin State Fair today. The Reheis family have a Memoriam in the Times for the death of Aunt Lizzie a year ago. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped in a little while, they went to Christ Buehler’s, moved a few articles to the Skear farm, were Bill Geodelle formerly lived, he moved last Wed. to Therefall farm. Chas. Helfrich moved to the Singer farm, next place to were they lived. Candler is moving were Helfrich lived.

Hauled water out for pigs. J. Wittenauers selling pickles in town $1.50 bus. Mrs. Scheinder $1.25. Clevelands $1.40. Jake Reheis he got $2.00. John Reheis sell there’s in Red Bud. People stopped bought 5 roosters 10½ lbs. @ 18¢; about 2 lbs. apiece. A man here selling apples 75¢ bu. George Wagner’s family were here a little while. The settlement of Pete Reheis & Fritsche was in the paper for the last time, will be on July 28 at Belleville Court House; he foreclose him. The assesed [sic] valuation was in the Times; we are the highest in Hecker & around. Joe Watchel & Robert Laut dug a 2o ft. well on Watchel lot.

Cool wind this morn. Sheutte by Waterloo died, the man, that Mrs. Sheutte insane, put poison in there food. A free dance at Donahue’s musci [sic] by Nite Hawks & a free wedding dance in Pautlers Hall, musci [sic] by Moonlighters tonite. This morning about 10:30 Irvin Buehler, 7 yr old son of Chris Buehler, was struck unconsious [sic], while playing with tires on the hard road, in front of Parker’s house, they were all there helping with threshing, the driver of the car, was Frank Schwartz of R.R.1 Belleville. Irvin was brought to Hecker to Dr. Eckert & then the ambulance was called & taken to Belleville hospital, where he is still the same, fractured head & back & wrenched leg. The car nearly hit Cletus to. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & papa went to Hyde sale in Red Bud, who lives in John Rennecker’s house, bought a few articles. Henry & Leona went to Belleville, left kids here, bought new shoes & dress. this evening took us along, kids stayed here, went to Pautler Pavillion, Kopp’s Wedding dance; pretty large crowd. Donahue’s was nothing some said. Boy! did Walter Reheis feel good!

Rennecker & Agnes Gregson’s birthday; also 4 anniversary of Gambach Bros. death. Jos. Schilling is going to thresh this afternoon. Joe. Watchel’s machine starts to this afternoon, all getting about started, soon. The lightening struck one of Arm Geodelle’s wheat shocks yesterday, burned it all up. Marjorie Rausch is again home from the hospital. Rose & Bertille went to Waterloo took 8 bus. wheat along, got 79¢; bought 100 lbs. flour; soft wheat $3.05. stopped in at Henry’s, he is threshing by Reheis. They were at Uncle Pete’s last Sun. afternoon, Annie has a permanent wave, got it at Waterloo, also Jake’s wife. Henry got 50 barned Rock Chicks 3 weeks old from Monroe Hatchery, $7.00 a hundred. George Wagner came over awhile. We took our onions out today. Uncle Fred brought the mule home, then we took him home, stayed awhile, Ronnenberg came down there to telephone to Evansville, to tell Kissen’s that there boy is pretty sick, up here, he has it in his back, can’t hardly breathe sometimes.

We washed, ironed, patched, fixed wire fence. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this evening awhile, he cut his lawn etc. George Schilling started threshing, yesterday afternoon but cause it, rained they quit, so he is threshing this afternoon again, from there to John Reheis, & then all through back in there. Mueths left, went with Matzenbachers threshing outfit, this year. Mr. Rennecker was here.

There are several farmers cutting wheat in the vicinity at present. A man here to sell kerosene refrigerator’s; from Belleville. George Schilling was here & settled the lumber sawing, papa paid him $45.40 & Jonny Reheis note $10.75, for 6,421 ft. lumber @ 90¢ & 100 ft. Christ & Ivo Buehler stopped in on there way out to the farm, he is going to cut out wheat here this afternoon, bought second hand binder from Eichenseer; now it don’t work, so he won’t cut till tomorrow. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, up awhile, she made a bonnet for me. We went out to Henry’s stopped in awhile, they went to Waterloo, to see Metzger & Nobbe to trade for a new binder; we went to Donahues, but there was no dance, there then went to Waterloo, & papa talked with the implement dealers, also; Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Heberer on there way to Colorado, on a honeymoon trip were met with an accident, & were taken to a hospital in St. Louis. Eggs are 11¢, hogs up to $4.90 that is top price.

Papa & Rosalia took hogs to Belleville, Bertille made doughnuts. Walter Reheis & Bill Freund’s birthday. The 3 hogs weighed 525 lbs. @ $3.45. Henry was up with the wagon got lawn mower. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this afternoon, had lunch, supper.

It looks awful cloudy like rain. Today is the big wedding of Milton Wagner 23 & Erma Englerth 18 of Smithon [sic]; married by Justice of Peace at 4’o clock; Hy. Armstutz was here. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came then went to Waterloo, to Burksville to Fred Fauss sale, Mrs. John Reheis brother; Uncle Fred got picture frames, that’s all. This evening they came back again, & we all went to Kammler’s Hall to Wagner Wedding dance, rather large crowd, & they received many presents. Harold Birschaer & 2 fellows all from Millstadt accordion, drums, saxphone [sic], furnished musci [sic]. The Wedding cake was placed in the middle of the floor, & they danced around it, the attendants were, her sister with pale blue dress & shoes, & bride wore white dress & shoes & head band; Harold Wagner brother, groomsmen; Sandwiches & cake were handed around; & the men had to march around in a circle & give some thing to help pay expense. The supper was served at the Englerth home, to near relatives; the dance lasted till 1’o clock. We gave a double boiler as a present, Aunt Mary a bed spread.

Olivia Laut’s birthday. We cleaned little chick house. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up. Pap got a money order from Ettling $5.60 – 1933 is all paid now. We got the Watterloo Republican, a piece of it today. I guess on account of the corn & hog contract, it is in there, & also in the Times. Mrs. Hy. Wedel was granted a divorce, & settlement was made the amount $875.00. Mrs. Pretzilk got no divorce. Several from Renault are having there farms leased for oil drilling, Mary May is one. Wm. Reheis of Burksville is putting up a new store on his premises; Osterhage has the contract. Mr. & Mrs. Fred Fauss of Burksville bought a house in Waterloo from Fred Mueller, one of Ida Sommer’s & will move in near future, will have sale tomorrow. Cyril Havey is recovering from an operation on appendix in the new St. Louis University Hospital, he took ill suddenly & was operated on next day; also Mrs. Arstice Whiel is recovering from an operation.

Linus Buehler’s birthday; 13 yrs. old. Renneckers are papering dining room & kitchen. Papa got a letter from Mrs. Leohr to meet Hempe’s this afternoon, 2 o clock in Waterloo. The transfer is in the paper of Christian Bestmann & wife to Peter Reheis, $3,000. Steve Rennecker was here to borrow some planks, so he can paper. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, we all went to Waterloo, they met the Hempe Bros. at the post office. We got some free flower seed at Hamscher’s. Uncle Fred & Aunt had lunch here, went home, came back, went to Red Bud to Buehler’s. We planted 36 cabbage plants out. Papa got his watch repaired $2.50 Bersche’s.
