We washed, ironed. Beautiful day, little wind. Pap went out to Henry’s, helped fill ground around the house, had dinner. Dr. Wagner came wanted to get oats, but papa wasn’t at home. Louis Braun came & paid $15. for ball ground, for last year’s.

Beautiful day, warm, no rain not so far. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped after church awhile. Mr. Geo Siefert of Red Bud died Fri, will be buried tomorrow morn. 9 o’clock mass. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Mrs. Amanda Reheis & Josie Keller all stopped in, then went to the play, they were visiting Uncle this afternoon, the play was good “Bertie Cave Man,” was the name, players were Rallin & Clarence, Lyle, Vernice, Marjorie Rausch, Floyd Thompson, Hard Wagner, Alsace Eckert; use after the play musci [sic] by Wild Cat String Busters,” that Brun’s boys, Lav. Mueth & Lyle Rausch & boy was it a crowd; Adm 35¢. Arlene Klotz is getting along well.

Pap had dinner at Henry’s again, finished all but 1 load for Henry yet. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, she was by Staufenbiel’s & he got load rock in woods, & cut his lawn across the street, we cleaned dining room & kitchen. Zita Carrol is going to move her furniture over to E. St. Louis tomorrow, Eichenseer’s truck. Mr. Fred Grohmann of Douglas shot himself Thurs. evening going to be buried tomorrow, leaves his wife Annie nee (Herzog) & 5 sons; all of around Smithon [sic]. Mr. Ed Rehling has a new plymouth sedan; Dr. Wagner was here wanted to get about 6 bus. oats, this evening maybe, when pap home.

Sure a windy day; we cleaned bedroom 1 bath & hall. Pap & Henry hauled wood he had dinner there at Henry’s, brought load, posts home. Hy. Hepp got the lime dust spreader. Dr. Wagner came to see pap. Mamie Eichenseer came & Rose set her hair for her. We worked in garden, sewed some more seed. Eggs are 17¢ today. Mrs. Fred Weber was taken to Belleville hospital, treated for rupture, she is Mrs. Bert Thompson’s mother. Robert Bescher is taking charge of Bert’s horses at Meng’s for the present, cause she is there all time.

Wm. Wiegand was around electionery for school director against Milton Wagner, & Wiegand won. Hill expired, & gave it up. Kenneth Kemp was relected [sic] without opposition. Some real April showers today. We went to Belleville this afternoon got white shoes. Vic Papenberg was here last nite, wanted to know price of oats. Berneice Mehrmann has a baby boy, born at Fredrichs, she was married to a Smith a while back, & lived in St. Louis, where he’s from.

Pap went out in woods. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this afternoon, he went along with pap in the woods, we made garden & remodeled dresses. Clara Wagner was over awhile.

We all went out to Henry’s, we washed, pap helped to sew oats. Nice day. Eggs 16¢ here. Wagners & Wacthels are all busy in the garden this evening. We also ironed all the wash; had dinner.

Pap went out in the woods. Martin Doyle came & looked at our Clover seed, he is going to take it. Eggs 18¢ today. Geo. Wagner butchering today; got it from Joe Gregson. Berti went out first time awhile today, we sewed lettuce, side of house. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came Rose went along to church.

Leap year. Papa went in the woods all day. Wagners got 1 lb. butter & cheese. Renncker, 1 lb. butter, 1 pt. cheese, Lauts ½ butter, 1 pt. cheese. Henry stopped in he got crushing done. Eggs dropped again 21¾¢ on radio. Beautiful day. There was a sale at Ruma, painted dishes, lot of furniture & license. Good radio nite.

Papa went working in the woods all day. S. Rennecker got milk. Ed Pabst came to see pap, he can’t rent the ground this year. Loyd is working at the foundry at Belleville now. Kalbfleisch of Millsdadt looked at the mare. Leo Kohler of Waterloo bought the Dalkert residence on South Church St. & Mrs. Aug. Wagner bought Ralph Collins place.
