Fixed gloves this morn. Henry & Leona & Billy [Willis] came, Bert [Bertille] went along to Belleville, he took sweet clover seed along; Bill [Klein] came here awhile this morn. Raining nearly all day. Kenneth Kemp got stuck by Hill’s this afternoon. Werner Kammler pulled him out with truck. Awful bad nite, windy & raining so heavy, thunder.

Bert [Bertille] went out to Henry’s helped her [Leona] house clean, 2 rooms. Henry & Billy [Willis] brought load corn up here. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were here, she went up to school house for meeting, making plans for centennial mass to be. Kenneth Kemp was here, looking for Emil. He isn’t at home tonite.

Washed. Pap hauled load wood in basement. Bert [Bertille went to Lauts quilting this afternoon, wedding ring. had lunch there. Pirre was over this morn & told me about it. Boul from Belleville was here, looking for fat hog, ours sold. Emil came over this eve; till Grover Cleveland called him away, him & Albert & Kenneth Kemp came up to have a solo game with him.

Pap harrowed for Chris Buehler, in our field. Mr. Emil Geodelle plaster of Waterloo fixed the front room ceiling, finished at Kemps to. Pap & Rose went to Belleville, he got 3 teeth pulled, at Dr. Wagners. Omer & Bertie went to St. Louis to Emil’s, seen the Veil[ed] Prophet parade, was real nice, had 20 floats, different states & bands etc. It rained this afternoon. Hecker Catholics had euchre party tonite in school hall, 26 tables; quite few from other place they say.

Baked bread, finished ironing, was 105 yesterday, had a real wind storm about 2 oclock this morning, but then got warm again later on. Joe Schilling moving to town today. Kenneth Kemp is tearing his old house down, ready to build; soon. Mrs. Hy. Meng who died Sat. afternoon, will be buried this afternoon at 2 o’clock to the church & cemetery; she was pretty old & in ill health for 6 week, we went to the funeral, house & church, she was 71 yrs. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, she also went to the funeral, had lunch here; he cut lawn etc. Norman & Irene Reheis played & sang a song. It is so awful warm this eve, no breeze so still, bad weather some place. John Reagen moved his family to Red Bud yesterday; he works on W.P.A. Quarry; they say he gets $100 mon. Walter Monike is moving in Gambach’s house today. Nic Hess is also moving up to Schillings.

The Hecker fire co gave a dance last nite at Maniers, had a big crowd. Moonlighters played & on there way home Keim’s driving & his car, with Ben Schilling, Walter Braun, Armin Bectholdt, upset his car, other side of Kemps. Ben has sore arm, & shoulder. Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary & Bert went in to Belleville hospital, Omer came to there this evening.

Wm. Wiegand was around electionery for school director against Milton Wagner, & Wiegand won. Hill expired, & gave it up. Kenneth Kemp was relected [sic] without opposition. Some real April showers today. We went to Belleville this afternoon got white shoes. Vic Papenberg was here last nite, wanted to know price of oats. Berneice Mehrmann has a baby boy, born at Fredrichs, she was married to a Smith a while back, & lived in St. Louis, where he’s from.

Threshing here today, had some for dinner; Eugene & outfit got here at 1:15, & threshed till 6:30, Kemp & Scheinder they laid out, some guys; it was awful hot, had lunch & supper. didn’t get finished, threshed out 300 bus. The timber cutting boss came paid the check for $100.42, 2955 ft. they cut this week.
