Went to Smithton, on business this morn, then went to Leo, pap helped saw wood, also Jake, Isd. & Chas. Mueth Joe Krebs sawed it; had dinner there, sawed about 12 loads. Pretty nice day. It was in the paper that the will of Omer’s was filed last Fri. H. M. Hill, Vic & Odillo Eichenseer as witness, Geo. Schilling executor; there was also a nice memoriam piece in paper put in by friends. Aunt Mary got her pattern that I send for last week. The late Geo. Gregson farm was sold $30. acre, Waldman of Evansville bought the farm; That is Walter & Geo & rest father place.

Beautiful day. Bill Fritsche look & fix our furnace. Pap went up in woods, got load corn fodder. Frank Kroll wanted to see him, about lots at cemetery, so he had to go out there. Henry Schaefer of Waterloo died, to be buried tomorrow, at Hecker cemetery. Fr. Aydt to have mass at Waterloo at 10′ o clock then out to cemetery, there is 3 funeral masses at Waterloo, 2 are Stackels, one being Hy. Emery’s father in law, & Schaefer. Joe Gregson & Lester bought 2 acres of land from Wil. Harbaugh, $800.00, going to operate & build a filling station, it is already staked of. We went to Belleville this afternoon, pap went to dentist again.

Nice day, cool. The tree man was here. We went out to Henry’s helped clean bedroom today had dinner. A man here selling electric machine for all kind of work. Mr & Mrs Ed Brand were at Belleville at Frick’s funeral & stopped in here, on way to Levi Gregson’s; to say Hello! Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came from Cortner’s funeral at Hecker here. Mr. William Freund 27 & Marcella Fahey 25 are being married at Tipton this morning, attendants twin [to bride] Estella Fahey & Joe Freund; no wedding dance. Miss Dorothy Schoenborn & Sutter of Millsdadt [sic] married at Belleville this morning, attendants Jac Schoenborn, Rose Stul & Rudy Helfrich & Tillie Rhinehardt, friends, dance held at Stolbergs Lake Belleville.

We went out to Henry’s had ice cream this evening. Agnes Gregson’s birthday. also S. Rennekers; had a few drops rain this afternoon, awful hot 96° degrees at 4 p.m. Eggs 18¢. Wheat 88.

Cleaned hen house. Bert baked bread & cookies. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped, he took load wheat to Red Bud got 90¢. Hy Stahleber was here. Hy. Grosse of Waterloo bought. Jobrusch hand was in store, & Jobush is to be postmaster. Al. Schrieber is to be in Red Bud. Roy Gregson & Lucille Kaffai were married last Tues. morning, Alvin Kaffai & Lenora Ziebald attendants, it says in the messenger, also says that 800 men attended the Holy Name Conference here last Sun. afternoon. At 5 o clock this evening the temperature in 90 degrees. Rettinghouse came down & fixed the Whip. this morning couldn’t get it started.

Pap & Rose went out to Henry’s before 5 ‘o clock; had lunch & dinner & finished cutting oats now; at noon, got Emil down & he helped put the binder in the shed; has about 2 hrs. shocking to do yet. Ralph Rausch came & pd. the balance $5. on ball ground there dance was fairly well attended Sun. nite. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came we went to Chester to see Gertie Irose; she sure looks natural & good, she has been in bed for 5 mons; & was terrible sick the last 10 days. Hubert said, had a cancer; she was at the home of Schroeder Ambulance & Undertaker, they are remodeling the parlor at present time; When we got to Chester, the shift gears wouldn’t work on our car, got it repaired at Chester Cowell’s garage. Walter Gregson were down, & McDermott, Doyl’s May’s. The crops don’t look so good down there. Leo Orlet of Paderborn, stopped in while in town this evening.

We all went out to Henrys, all day, came home for supper. Rose went home at noon to feed; Finished cutting wheat & started oats. We washed, ironed out there. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this eve. they were at Mrs. Benedick funeral, Grandsons carried her, Benedick, Oscar, Bill & Henry Birkner, Roy Gregson, Ben Schilling; Awful hot day.

The Wedding of Clements Schlotmann & Helen Krou at 8 o’clock mass at Red Bud; we & Aunt Mary went down, Joe Gregson’s & Olivi & Agnes. Mrs. Starr all from Hecker; The Wedding was pretty, short veil, & white ensemble dress; took pictures at the church. Mrs. Schlotmann was crying; having the dinner at Kern’s. Berti went along with Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary home, helped clean the big room, washed, ironed etc. had dinner & supper; they came up this eve. again, & pap went along with them to Pautler’s, we went also. It was a Columbia couple wedding dance, big crowd & so hot it was. Jac. Erle was here, insured our house. Pap & Rose went to Belleville.

Mrs. Staufenbiel came & went along with Rose & Bert to church, had Solemn Communion at 7:30 mass, 6 boys & 6 girl, 1 boy took sick, & also 1 girl, Martha Agnes McDermott who is at hospital in E. St. Louis for appendix, also Keoinstein of below Hecker is over there, pretty bad. Bill’s daughter, she is young yet. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Clara & Agnes Gregson stopped from church. Ed. Meng Katie Klotz, all called here a short while to see pap, also Joe & Josie Alberta Gregson on there way home from Waterloo, stopped. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came back this evening again. It rained pretty good here, this eve. The baseball team has a dance at Kammlers Schmidts Merrymakers musci [sic]; the crowd wasn’t so large we heard. Omer came & we went to Pautler’s to Mrs. Martin Karban’s birthday dance, Rythm [sic] Kings musci [sic]. Gents 25¢ ladies free. Nice crowd.

Celestine Neff came selling chances for a quilt, to be raffled at there play. Josie Keller visited at the hospital tonite. Lester Gregson & Cora Armstutz called there this afternoon where we were there, Bert came along home, Rose stayed tonite. Henry was over at Mengs with the team, called here a while.
