Pap is sewing clover seed. Bert baked cake. Its cold this morn. froze ice last nite again. Joe Schilling is appointed solictior [sic] for gathering feed grain through Farm Bureau for the flood sufferers at along the Wabash & Ohio Rivers. Leo came with the team & got his disk, that he bought at Todds sale. Eichenseer pays only 19¢ for eggs. Mertz 20¢. Mr. Chas Geodelle died this afternoon. There were 2 funerals at Red Bud this morn. Wagner & Kaffai.

Sunday, March 7, 1937

Went to Red Bud, mass; tomorrow morning is mass for Omer, first time down there now; & on Tues. is two funerals at 8:30 is Len. Wagner 27 from Anna, Clarence oldest brother & Mrs. Kaffai, Mrs. Roy Gregson’s mother, both died of stroke. Mr. Jake Reheis is being buried in Smithton this afternoon. Ben Schilling went along to Denver Col. with his brother in law John Hoeffner, of there; to see the country. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, Bert went along to Reheis funeral at Smithton, church was crowded; he was 74 yrs. old; was buried in concrete house, erected in 1935 for him & his wife & daughter. Christ Buehler was here, looked at his wheat. Emil Ganley came wants the hedge cut in there lane. Uncle Fred went home she [Aunt Mary] went to church, came after her again this eve. had supper here. Sure beautiful day. Leo & Rose went to Annies & Earls Heumann’s at O’fallon; all day. Isi was here this eve.

Cleaned hen house. Bert baked bread & cookies. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped, he took load wheat to Red Bud got 90¢. Hy Stahleber was here. Hy. Grosse of Waterloo bought. Jobrusch hand was in store, & Jobush is to be postmaster. Al. Schrieber is to be in Red Bud. Roy Gregson & Lucille Kaffai were married last Tues. morning, Alvin Kaffai & Lenora Ziebald attendants, it says in the messenger, also says that 800 men attended the Holy Name Conference here last Sun. afternoon. At 5 o clock this evening the temperature in 90 degrees. Rettinghouse came down & fixed the Whip. this morning couldn’t get it started.
