We went out to Uncle Freds for dinner & supper. In the afternoon we all went over to the cemetery, Ed Scheinder family & some relation & Phil & Henry Braun where there they went all through the house & barn, so did we. Scheinder is going to rent the place. We went to Uncle Adam’s & Aunt Mary & Uncle Fred rode along with us there this evening. Jonny Kreher’s sure must of had some dance the other night. Frank Birkner was so drunk. Isadore Helfrich was going to take them home she was no better, he run up the lumber pile; so Henry Spalt took them home. Last Sat, Krehres [sic] & Kemp where cutting a tree down between the hills & it fell the wrong way & smashed the top in on George Wiegands machine & another one yet.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for dinner & supper. Henry & family where also here for supper. A Swap Store man came our from Belleville & looked at our organ, took it along in trade for a dresser. Uncle Adams picture was in yesterdays paper that he will be 84 yrs. old May 6. We went to Waterloo this evening, closing of the 40 hrs. Adoration; Fr. Adyt & Stern & good many other priests.

Papa hauled 2 load of wood this morning. Henry brought a load of corn. Uncle Adam & Emil where doing business by H. M. Hill. Miss Magaret [sic – Margaret] McDermott called up & told us that Jac. Brand at Red Bud died & will be buried tomorrow morning at 9:30 to the Catholic Church & cemetery, we should tell Uncle Adam. We did all the cleaning today. Henry Meyer brought a load of corn, that papa bought from him, 26 bus. @ 17¢ $4.52.

Uncle Adam & Emil butchered today Papa & Henry & L. Gregson’s helped. Rosalia & Bertille went out & stayed at Henry’s, helped Leona sew shirts for the boys. had dinner & lunch there. Papa had lunch & dinner at Uncle Adams they finished butchering about 3 o clock, he came home with Levi Gregson’s. A dealer in Westhinhouse [sic- Westinghouse] Automatic electricity from Belleville was here advertising he had a small plant in his car he started it up & showed how it works, for electric lights irons etc. Rosalia Bertille went up to Mamie’s this eve. to see her quilt, cookies & orangeade where had. Lawrence Cortner was here to buy some pigs, he had been here this afternoon but nobody home, so he came back this eve. but he didn’t buy them yet.

We went to Red Bud. It looks cloudy today. There is shooting matches all over again today, Fahey’s, Oxerner’s. We went over to Uncle Fred’s for dinner & supper. Christ Buehler’s family & Louis Birkner, Uncle Adam & Emil where all there this afternoon, Uncle Adam & Emil came to see us, but we where over there so they came over too. They had a four handed card game. John M. Reheis came here this eve. he borrowed $10, to pay a bill tomorrow, papa gave him $5 & Uncle Fred $5. Adam Eckert’s came to see Uncle Fred’s, so we all went back over there again, played cards, loosers [sic] drop out. Papa held 1500 trump spades, we melted 1800 & made 385 in the cards.

We went over to Aunt Mary’s for chicken dinner. Mr. Hill came in the afternoon awhile, & put on some lectures. We had cake. Rosalia & Bertille went up to Mamie awhile, Mrs. Eichenseer’s sister Mrs. Erle & her daughter where also there, we had lunch there. This evening we drove out to Uncle Adam’s & Emil & visited them awhile. Today is Homecoming at Floraville. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary talked about going. Mamie weighed us today Rosalia 173½ lb. Mamie 137 Miss Erle 137 & Bertille 131.

We went to Red Bud. We had chicken dinner by Uncle Fred’s today. Ronenbergs brought them one. Today is fish fry & dance at the Rod & Gun Club. Uncle Adam & Emil came up to see Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, then, Joe & Josie Gregson came but they wanted to come & see us, but being we where over there, they stayed there to, we all had supper. This evening we ate Watermellon [sic]. Seen in the paper that Ed Birke has a baby boy, they have 2 a girl & boy, & also Slyvester [sic – Sylvester] Doyle have a boy, first born. Elmer Kammler’s called there Donald Robert. Mr. & Mrs. Robert Laut sponsors.

Josie Gregson’s birthday. We went to Red Bud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here this morning awhile & this afternoon they went to see Louis Birkner’s, Edmund Eckert is getting better they said there, they came back here again & Uncle Adam & Emil was also here, they all had lunch. Abromse [?] Doyle & Joe Kelley & son & Paul Poney where here looked at the colts. Josie Keller & girl friend Miss Mckurns from St. Louis came, Josie has a new Chev. coupe, they had supper here also Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, they took Aunt Mary along down to see Lizzie Boll. About 7:30 they left for St. Louis again, she just got her new car Tues. Lena Meng was here, Josie gave her a ride when they went home, took her along a far as Stehfest corner, Lena went to get the milk. Ed. Burke & family came to look at the colts. Two fellows from Fateyville [sic – Fayetteville] wanted to buy small pigs, where here, company all day, 16 in all.

Uncle Adam is 83 yrs. old today. We planted cabbage & tomatoe [sic] plants out in our truck garden this morning. Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s got a load of wheat & took the mule home. We painted our kitchen chairs & table & varnished the floor. Adam Eckerts boy Edmund is awful bad sick, they took him to the hospital yesterday morning & today he got operated on for appendix, they say 4 ins [inches] long. Alphose [?] Parker is bad sick. Mrs. Conrad Rohleder, nee Laura Birkner, Petes daughter, took lysol & was rushed to St. Elizabeth’s hospital where she died this morning 3 o’clock. The funeral will be Monday from the home of Pete Birkner at Belleville to church & cemetery. She took it because her husband is out of work, & she was ill.

Went to Red Bud church. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here all day, for dinner & supper. Emil & Uncle Adam where here for supper. Roy Stauenfbiel came to look at some of our sows. He didn’t stay very long.
