We baked bread & pie. Went butchering at Henry’s about 9 o clock, had dinner finished at 3:30; everything went good, about 250 lb. hog. its awful warm, have to fry things in, we took some; so Uncle Fred went there tonite to take some. Rain a little this morning. We all got weighed out there Floyd 51 – Rob 53. Billy [Willis] 30, Bertie 118 – Rose 163 – Leona – 122 & pap -165. Henry – 130. Bernice brought the mail. Eggs 25¢. Norma Geodelle – daughter of Jac Geodelle & Armin’s sister was married this afternoon to a fellow from South Dakota at the home of her parents, he worked for Roland Eichelmann, him [Roland] & his wife are the attendants, wedding dance next Wed. nite at Pautlers. Otto Stadel his name, he came 2 weeks ago here, they were corresponding for a long time, she says. Hy. Spalt & Katie Stallmann of Prairie du Long, to be married this afternoon we heard.

We went over to Aunt Mary’s for chicken dinner. Mr. Hill came in the afternoon awhile, & put on some lectures. We had cake. Rosalia & Bertille went up to Mamie awhile, Mrs. Eichenseer’s sister Mrs. Erle & her daughter where also there, we had lunch there. This evening we drove out to Uncle Adam’s & Emil & visited them awhile. Today is Homecoming at Floraville. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary talked about going. Mamie weighed us today Rosalia 173½ lb. Mamie 137 Miss Erle 137 & Bertille 131.

This morning we finished our truck patch for this week, then Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & then we went to Belleville all day. We ordered our Belleville Paper, that the lady took us through the printing shop. We all got weighed, Aunt Mary 168 lbs., Uncle Fred 152, Papa 165, Rosalia, 149, Bertille 112. Today is Frances Kern’s birthday. Joseph Huber Jr. has purchased a Chrysler. Last Thurs. night Edwin Wachtel gave a dance at the brick House. Rev. Fr. Odillo Eichenseer off Chicago spent a day last Sat. with Anton Eichenseer, & Sun. at Ruma he celebrated his 25th yr. priest, the relation where all present, & they had served dinner in the Hall for 200 people. Mrs. Charles Rausch of Belleville sold her farm where Ed. Schinder lives on, a lake will be made on the farm. Red Bud ball team played with Hecker on there grounds here, & defeated them by a score of 2 to 1. Smithton Jr. team played Hecker Jr. team here Sun. the score was 10 to 9 in favor of Smithton. Frances Schilling was home last Sun. visiting parents. George Neff is on the sick list, he is my Osie’s [? last word unclear]. Ed. Parker’s barn is nearly finished now, it costs between $3 & $4,000. John Roth sold some of his land to George Roth is son.

Papa, Rosalia are going to haul gravel in our road today. Lester Gregson’s have a little boy since last Sat. afternoon. They got it christened Sunday, Robert Leo. Leo Wittenauer and a girl from Belleville stood up for it. Ed Schneider have a little girl, they christened it Mary Frances. Last Friday when we was in Belleville we all got weighed in the News Democrat office. Uncle Fred was 161. Papa was 160. Aunt Mary was 160. Rosalia was 153. Bertille was 113 lbs. Bertille was out at Henry’s this afternoon. We had chicken for dinner and one for supper today. Rosalia took Bobby along up this afternoon when she hauled a load of gravel. Peter Birkner was at our place at noon. Papa wanted to see him about making sidewalks. He is fixing a driveway by Joe Watchel’s house.
