Mr. Jim Parker is being buried this morning but none of us can go, we have to go to Henry’s threshing, oats; the grandsons were pallbearers; 3 of Geo Parker’s, & Paul & Clyde Pautler & Hy. Birkner; the daughter, Sister Amada was also home; came Thurs.; it was an awful large funeral. Henry had threshers for dinner & lunch, & supper; moved here about 4 o’clock. Klotz & Watchel machine threshed this & Geo. Schilling moved onto Blackburn’s. Henry threshed altogether 1108 bus; 394 bus. here & 714 out there, highest oats threshed so far; we got for our share 369 bus. Pabsts bought oats 47 bus.

Baked bread, had chicken dressing. Papa took lawn mower to Fritsche to get it repaired. Evansville church, & Tipton church have pinics [sic] today; & chicken suppers. Loyd Pabst came got sacks, threshing oats today. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went to Belleville came back here for dinner had chicken. Sure is hot this afternoon & day. Mrs. Emma Altis of St. Louis Mo. died, be buried tomorrow afternoon, she was a Freese, Uncle Fred niece; & Mr. Jim Parker 85 died last nite at 5:30; be buried Fri. morning at Hecker Church & cemetery. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, went along with us to the wake, he looks natural. Koch undertaker, he would be 86 in Sept. Aunt Mary brought plums.

Holiday. Boy! the cars going down. Papa went to see Schaefers & Wm. Ganley. this afternoon him & Rose went out to Henry’s. Hilda is out there, she has 2 weeks vacation now. Jo Keller was by Lizzie Boll’s all day, came here for supper, stayed awhile. We went to Geo. Wagner’s this evening, kids had a few spit devil firecrackers. Sister Angelonia, Frank Mueth daughter, & Mrs. Vic Eichenseer’s sister died at Alton this morning, after an operation of 18 days; will be buried tomorrow morning at Indiania [sic]. Sure hot today again; at noon.

We cut in 3 gals. sour kraut [sic], bus. basket full. Leona brought Henry & Emil up, she went back had to go to Waterloo Robert to instructions. Joe Watchel was here yesterday evening awhile. Mr. Fred Werner died, buried this afternoon at Belleville, Walnut Hill cemetery. He was pretty old. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up, he helped shack wheat this afternoon. Mr. & Mrs. Vic Geodelle of Waterloo have a 9½ lb. baby girl born June 26 & Herman Miller of St. Louis have a 7½ lb. baby girl born June 21. Mr. & Mrs. Harbaugh grand parents of Waterloo.

Predigar is being buried at New Athens Catholic church & cemetery from the home of his grandmother Weber’s. Steve Renneckers Agnes Gregson’s birthdays today. We went berry picking after lunch got about 7 gallon’s; gave some to Henry’s & Aunt Mary. had dinner at Henry’s. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up, had lunch here. We canned 2 qts berries & made the rest in jelly. Rose & Bert went to Mamie’s this evening, went sightseeing through town. Ivo Buehler was brought home from the hospital today, is pretty good.

Rain all night & morning, & heavy, showers this afternoon. We clipped chicken wings; cut lawn this evening. We got a postcard greetings from Josie Keller, she is 537 miles from St. Louis South, at present at Tenn. Sun, going to see Power House 1 Dam at Shoals Ala. Seen in Waterloo paper Anton Jaefer 77 yrs. was buried Mon. morning at Waterloo catholic Church cemetery. Mr. & Mrs. Otto Kalmer have adopted 2 orphan children, boy 2 & girl 1 yr. old. Mr. Chris Fleckenstein – Eva Armbruster’s husband was buried last week at Smithon [sic]. Clarence Osterhage & Helen Kolmer are to be married tomorrow at Waterloo. Cool this evening.

Beautiful day. Mrs. Frances Euler died Thurs. evening 9 o clock at Red Bud hospital, will be buried Mon. morning from Waterloo to Hecker church & cemetery. She was 66 yrs. old. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came went along with us, this evening, we stopped at L. Sheas place & then went to Waterloo to see Mrs. Euler, about half hr. few more there, then we went to Pautler’s to Peiffer of Marystown birthday dance, ladies free. Moonlight Orchestra.

Ironed patched, cleaned little chick house. Rose went to Red Bud to Zipfel to get chick feed. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this afternoon, him & papa went to Waterloo on business; cut Rosalia’s dress out. Aunt Mary & Rose went over to Mrs. Staufenbiels to get patterns. Bertille got chain letter from Mrs. S. Heller St. Louis today & sent it on again. Mr. Jim Purtle, was buried at Red Bud church & cemetery this morn, from the home of his son George, aged 92 yrs. made his home with a daughter of St. Louis; was a very large funeral; Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had supper here, wanted to stay for church, but it started in to rain, they then went home.

Aunt Lizzie’s birthday & Louis Birkner buried a yr. ago. Cloudy & cold this morn; we didn’t wash, quilted all day. Chas Helfrich came up this morn, wasn’t satisfied with the deal they made yesterday, wanted more cash, so papa split the difference & paid him $5.50 & made him a present of 50¢ & seed ½ bu; called it straight with the other load hay; so it is all settled now, sometime Ha- Papa went over to Meng’s with the mare. Bert Thompson & Ed Meng came & looked at our colt; thought it surely is a dandy. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, she helped to quilt & Uncle went to Red Bud. Eggs are 20¢ today, wheat 85¢. There was a man here from Campaign [sic] Co. wanted to buy clover seed, he took samples along, they have no grown clover seed there & wanted to get a start.

Magaret [sic] is getting buried at Tiptown Church & cemetery this morning, we surely would of like to went, but the roads wasn’t none so good. She was 37 yrs. old. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this evening; he did a little work about the place; up here. They have services this evening but she didn’t go.
