Today is Holiday. We all went to Waterloo this afternoon, we went out to the clump [dump?] pile, but they haven’t got it gathered up yet in town. From there we went around Red Bud home, we stopped in at Caldwell’s House, & at the place where Bozzay lived. We stopped at Red Bud, Papa went to talk with the butcher, & we where talking with Levi Gregson’s family. Bill was here for supper, in the evening we went along to Waterloo, to get Creses, then went out to Coxey to Greatling’s Hall, Mrs. Pete Keim celebrated her birthday there. Henry & family, Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary, Papa went to the show, this evening. Bernice Wagner got the beads, & Ruth Braun the perfume for singing Springtime in the Rockies, Niece Rausch, & another girl each got 25¢. Mrs. Estelle Stovall got the perfume & Bobby set for calling the loudest for her Husband. Wilfred Eichenseer got the cigarette case, he got the most cheers. Leslie Raush also was in that but didn’t get anything. The name of there play was “Crazy Sister.”

I seen in the paper that Fritzie Boo had his leg taken off now, & is getting along nicely. Martin Schilling’s have a little baby girl, they now have 2 boy’s & 2 girls. Papa went down to the truck patch & planted pickle seed, he was over by Louis Armstutz’s a little while he called him over there. Rosalia & Bertille went to the Jackson’s show tonight, & the people there, it was sure a crowd, most of them with there parked cars, they sold soap, medicine, & candy, it had slips in the boxes, Harold Wagner had one with it he got a big Indian Blanket, Rosalia [Rosalie?] Braun, Meba Hepp got teaspoons, Henry Bruns a mirrow, & many others received prizes. They played the show “Crazy House” it was good. They also gave free attendance thickes [tickets] out, we got 3 of them, chances to win a blanket.

We washed, ironed. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this morning to work their potatoes & garden. They where here for dinner, lunch, & supper. Papa got some papers from Arch Whiel for the Braun’s business, what there stock & things where praised at, & there Liabelities [sic]. Henry Hintze came here this evening & got 1 from each. Henry Armstutz was here & wanted a mixing box, but we didn’t have any. Henry & family where all up this evening. Uncle Fred & Papa went down to Henry & Charles Hepp to see if Henry could get some leghorns eggs from him, he can get them by Thurs. night so Henry is going to take 200 eggs. They are Brown Leghorns. We went to Mrs. Eckerts this eve. but she wasn’t at home.

Papa went to Red Bud after lumber this morn. he brought a 25¢ of beef soup meat, but we couldn’t eat it after it was cooked, it tasted so bad. John Braun was helping Papa taking the old wire of on the line between us. Henry & family where all here this evening, they where first by Roy Stauenbiel, but he wasn’t at home, he was up here in Hecker so Henry seen him here.

Uncle Adam bought a horse yesterday. Papa & Rosalia is stretching wire this morn. Miss Kate McDermott was here to see Papa. She came up with the bus & then went back on it again. She also came to see Jac. Neff’s. Leona called up & said, that her mom, called out & said that Mrs. Geodelle her grandma die last night, & will be buried Sat. afternoon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon, they lawned there grass on their place, & planted out flowers. It started to rain this evening. Eggs are 15¢ today. Wm. Harbaugh got his land, stock, & everything praised [appraised] like the Brauns did too. Aunt Mary & Bertille were over an looked at Mrs. Rheinecker’s garden she gave me some flowers, Catsus [catcus].

Papa got crushing done this morn. Rosalia went to church. Henry Braun & Willie Braun are getting there land & etc. praised [appraised] today. Uncle Pete is one of the praisers [appraisers]. Henry & family came up this afternoon, the kids stayed here & they went to church. The Easter Rabbit laid each of the boy’s a egg. Benny Schilling has a new Chev. coach, got it from Red Bud. Odillo Eichenseer got a new Chev. roadster with Rumble seat this afternoon at Red Bud. There was a man here today trying to sell flowers.

We all went to church this morning. Papa went to Red Bud, & he stopped in at John Braun’s. This afternoon Papa went out to help Henry in the woods. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon to clean & spade the paths in their garden. Clifford was here & got a setting of Reds’ eggs for 25¢, eggs are 16¢ at the store. Henry came up & him & Papa went to the milk meeting in the new school hall. They also had a milk house on a truck here too, it was 6 x 8 ft. Mrs. Duecker got a spell again this afternoon, they called for the doctor twice.

Papa went out to help Henry in the woods again today, he was there for dinner. Mr. Hill was here this morning, & told us about some pea sticks. This week is court week, it is today for the stockholders of the Bank. We washed, ironed, & patched. Fr. Grootens has Lorberg, Wittenauer’s, Braun’s, trucks to haul each a load of coal for the church & school, today they coal oil heaters in the school room’s for the children. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this evening & planted their onions in the garden. They were here for supper. Eggs are 17¢.

Rosalia is got them spots all over this morning, so I guess in a few days she will be alright again. Papa took 8 doz. eggs off & got 12¢. This afternoon a fellow from Belleville was here & looked at our chickens, he wanted to buy 6 for $1.50 a piece, but Papa wanted $2.00. So he bought 6½ doz. eggs from the White Rocks, selling eggs for 25¢ a doz. We got a Valentine yesterday & today, one from Rosie & Mamie Mueth. Joe Miller from Waterloo got buried the other day, that is Bess Miller’s dad. The transfer of Ben Schilling to Clara Braun was also in the paper. Quernheim’s are going to have their new funeral apartment open on Main St. next Sunday from 9 to 5, everybody should come to see it. Papa took a letter to Chicago Mail Order to the bank this morning. Mr. Pinkel said, he would take charge of it. That he would send it away tomorrow. We send a Valentine to Rosie & Mamie today.

Papa went out to work on the church farm again. This afternoon Rosalia & Bertille went out to Aunt Mary’s. Papa came over there too with Uncle Fred. We all had supper there. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped in this eve. before they went down to the dance at Wiegands. The transfer of Anna Braun’s property was in the paper today. It was in the paper about Gregory Neff & Hedwig Watchel, they were married Tues. morning at Paderborn. Alvin Roos & Florence Meuth were also married at Paderborn this week. The license for Elmer Quirin 21 to Lena Roth, Hecker, 22 were in the Times.
