Papa went to the tractor demonstrating on Kesslers farm west of Hecker. A Cascey tractor from Red Bud. Papa & Rosalia went out in the woods to get a load of posts. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon to plant some popcorn at their place. They where here for lunch. This evening they went to the dance in Wiegands brick house. George Emery & Clarence Busch gave it, ladies free, gents 25¢.

Papa went to Red Bud after lumber this morn. he brought a 25¢ of beef soup meat, but we couldn’t eat it after it was cooked, it tasted so bad. John Braun was helping Papa taking the old wire of on the line between us. Henry & family where all here this evening, they where first by Roy Stauenbiel, but he wasn’t at home, he was up here in Hecker so Henry seen him here.

Today Wm. Curran & Julia Ruby are getting married in St. Patrick’s church Tiptown, & this evening they will have a wedding dance at Oak Grove. Philip & Bill came out & we went to the dance. The wedding couple marched around the hall, then they danced a waltz. Mabel Crook & Olga Bozzay where the attendants. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went too. We all went too Waterloo this afternoon to the car sale at Nobbe’s. Aunt Mary won a prize a dress, cap & anklets given by Clara Siegel. The dress she got exchanged for a larger one & Rosalia got the cap, & Bertille the socks. Nelson Kleyer won the old ford coupe that was raffled. There was a man here this morning selling the Daily Advocate paper. The insurance man from Horse Prairie was also here. Victor Eichenseer was here too. We stopped at Henry’s when we went to Waterloo. Frank Dudenhoeffers & Margaret & the family where at Uncle Pete’s last Sunday. She said we should come over to St. Louis next Sunday. Our little chicks are hatching Sat., so I don’t know if we will go or not but I guess if it don’t rain we will.

Papa went to Freeburg this morning to see about some wire, he brought some along home. He was at New Athens too. We washed, ironed, patched, baked bread & coffee cake today. This afternoon Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here, he helped Papa fix fence, & Rosalia started her dress. Fredrick Fritsche was here & got 2 setting of egg for 15¢, store price. It started to rain this evening.

Papa, Uncle Fred & Saxemeyer from Red Bud went out looking at some farms that were for sale. Henry & family, Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here for dinner & Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary were here for supper. This afternoon we went over across the street awhile & got some spinach roots for Leona. This evening Philip came out & Rosalia & Bertille rode along with him down to Evansville & back, for a drive. There was a dance in Ruma, & a play in Catholic School hall at Red Bud. There also was a play in Smithton & one in Belleville at St. Mary’s Church. There the thickets were sold already on Sat. they were all sold out.

We all went out to Henry’s this afternoon, & took them along, went to Waterloo to Mrs. Dan Geodell’s funeral, it was rather large. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were also in. Aunt Mary, & Uncle Adam, rode along with us to the cemetery & back again to town. We seen Rosie Meuth today, gave her a pleasant call for a short while. Mr. Caldwell was in Waterloo today. He sold his farm along the hard road from people from St. Louis for $5,000. Papa went up town this evening. Harry Kammler’s having a dance tonight. I don’t think the crowd was very large. Mamie Eichenseer came down this evening & then Clarence & Mrs. Eichenseer came after her around 9 o’clock.

Henry & kids came up this afternoon. Henry went out to see Ignatz Neff’s cream seperator. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came too. Uncle Fred stayed here with the kids & the rest of us went to Belleville & got spring hats. Steve Rennecker was here & wanted to know if they could get setting eggs, they want 1 of each kind, so this evening she came over & got them for 15¢ a doz. Mr. Hill called a telephone meeting here this evening, he & Mr. & Mrs. Rennecker, George Wagner were the only one present. The next meeting was adjourned until July by H. M. Hill. Fr. Grootens was here a little while this evening.

Uncle Adam bought a horse yesterday. Papa & Rosalia is stretching wire this morn. Miss Kate McDermott was here to see Papa. She came up with the bus & then went back on it again. She also came to see Jac. Neff’s. Leona called up & said, that her mom, called out & said that Mrs. Geodelle her grandma die last night, & will be buried Sat. afternoon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon, they lawned there grass on their place, & planted out flowers. It started to rain this evening. Eggs are 15¢ today. Wm. Harbaugh got his land, stock, & everything praised [appraised] like the Brauns did too. Aunt Mary & Bertille were over an looked at Mrs. Rheinecker’s garden she gave me some flowers, Catsus [catcus].

Today is Aunt Lizzie’s Birthday. We painted the top on our Chev. today. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here this afternoon, from here Papa & Uncle Fred went out to see Wm. Harbaugh, then they went to Waterloo. Aunt Mary, Rosalia & Bertille went out & helped Henry plant his potatoes. This evening Fr. Grootens called for Papa & Uncle Fred to come there, so Papa went up to see him. Jac. Erle was here & left a card on the door, because nobody was at home.

We washed today. Henry came up & plowed, & harrowed the potato patch, we planted 4 rows. He was here for dinner & lunch. Uncle Fred Aunt Mary came up & brought Henry’s potatoes along up for him. They were here for lunch too. Henry & family came up this evening. Henry went to the Broad Hollow & Hecker Local meeting.
