We went up to Belleville & sold 30 doz. eggs 23¢ & 2 for 45¢ sold all. Tonight is telephone meeting at Deueker’s. We all went. The members weren’t all present. Henry & family came up, played pinochle, they came here first & we weren’t at home, so they thought maybe we was by Louis Armstutz so they drove down a piece & turned around in front of Elmer Kammler house & got stuck, papa took the Whippet down & put the chains on & pulled him out. George Wagner & Steve, Louis Armstutz, Philip Jatho helped him.

We went to Red Bud church this morn. Christ Buehler’s family were all at Red Bud church too they are finished in Hecker, Fr. Grootens told him either pay pew rent or take his children out of school, so tomorrow he will sent his kids to Red Bud school. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for dinner, this afternoon we went out there had supper, Uncle Adam & Emil where also there, played pinochle. Ed Meng was here this morn, to see Uncle Fred. Tonight Mr. & Mrs. Steve Rennecker & George Wagner’s family where here played cards. Steve held 1000 Aces & George had 300 pinochle & 150 trumps. & In the same game Rosalia had 1500 trump. The St. Mary’s players are giving a play in the School Hall tonight Adm. 35.

We out at Aunt Mary’s for dinner & supper, Birkner’s & Buehler’s where there. Went to Rd [Red Bud?] Church morn. Hy. Frishcor’s [Frischkorn] wife was buried afternoon. Went over to Steve’s, Wagners was there too played pinochle. Chas. Geodell died yesterday buried tomorrow afternoon.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Henry, Ettling, where here digging for a pond, they had dinner & supper, worked 8½ hrs. Eggs are 28¢ today. We called for Dr. Quirin to come out & vaccainte [sic-vaccinate] our pig, the old sow, is starting to get sick now. He charged $10.95, for 10 pigs. Steve Rennecker dug up his sewer today, George Wagner & Louis Dehn helped him. Mrs. Hollerback died & will be buried tomorrow afternoon. Alfred Geodelle’s have a little baby girl. They now have 2 girls.

Papa went to Waterloo this morning. He brought a 1 doz. fruit jars along, so far we bought 2 dozens. This afternoon he hauled 2 loads of coal. Leona & kids came up after the oil this afternoon. We all went out to Aunt Mary’s this evening, but she was at Oscar Birkner’s, peeling apples for apple butter tomorrow. Papa went up to Griffins this morning & paid our pew rent $27.00 to Joe, he can give it to the priest. Clarence Wagner started school in Hecker today again, he got homesick at Red Bud, he went there a 1 week, & this week they had to bring him back up here again, he wouldn’t eat no more down there.

We washed, ironed, patched, canned 6 qts. tomatoes & cooked some for catsup. Osie Neff was here this morning, he wants to buy some land from Papa now about 4 acres, he has to move soon. Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s to sack up a load of wheat & take it to Waterloo. Osie Neff was here again this evening, he wants to make the deed tomorrow. Papa was over at Wagner’s & helped George pulled a tree in behind his car with our chain.

We all went to Red Bud church. The Hecker Priest read Ignatz Neff name off this morning, he signed the paper at Belleville, this week his kids can come back to school if they want too. Osie Neff was here looking for Uncle Fred. Today is homecoming at Floraville. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came here & then about 4:30 left for the picnic. Joe Hibbert the carpenter & his brother Frank & a cousin was here for a short visit. He was visiting Hecker friends this afternoon. This evening we drove out to Henry’s took them along & went to the basement floor dance at George Freund’s. Adm. 30¢ as enter. Rheinhardt & Skaer furnished musci [sic], 3 pieces. Papa was up at the store awhile & he also stopped at George Wagner’s, she said that her sister Lorenia Merhmann & Orlindo Skaer are getting married next Sat. Sept 26 at Floraville.

We went to Smithon [sic] church. Aunt Mary went to Hecker, he was pretty loud again today for being sick all week. Bill Freund was here & gave us an invite to George Freund’s Sun. night for a dance. Wiegands boy’s invited us for a dance at the brick house Wed. night. Rosalia & Bertille went up to see Mamie & Angela this afternoon. This evening we went to see Joe Watchel’s little boy, Papa went over to Wagners awhile. They are chivarie Frank Krolls tonight. Edwin Watchel is giving a dance at the brick house tonight. Gus, Blackburn & Roy Stauenbiel playing musci [sic].

Papa went after his pig from Ganley’s, he also went to see Martin Doyle’s. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had lunch here with us, then we all went to the sale, Bertille rode along with them in there car, to 2 miles from Evansville, Schulin’s sale the people that got shot that time. Aunt Mary bought a few articles, butter dish, glasses, bowl, table scarf, & bed spread, it all brought a nice price, just everything was sold so much. Alfred Eckert & Clarence Wagner, was here & sold us one chances of the quilts for the picnic. Hy. Armstutz & Liddie Birkner’s husband Ralph where here & got 3 doz eggs from us, she & him are out at Armstutz’s cooking peach butter today, he has vacation, yesterday they where at Springfield fair. Mrs. Val Fritsche called up & said that grandpa was witness when Mr. made his will so papa has to go to Belleville on the 15 Sept. to tell wether it is his handwriting. This evening we all went to Christ Buehler’s, Cletus birthday, we gave them 5¢ candy, Frank’s family & Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where there.

We cut in 2 gals. kraut. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary was up this afternoon, her & Rosalia went down to Dr. Eckert’s & each took 1 peck of peaches for 15¢ a peck. There where some people strangers from St. Louis, stopped in & wanted to buy chickens, we sold them 17 lbs. spring for 20¢ lb. Aunt Mary sold them 2 gals, greengages 10¢ gal. She gave George Wagner’s a basket full. Papa got crushing done this morn.
