People here from E. St. Louis selling live fish, we bought one, 5½ lbs. Oh! boy was it good, you tell ’em, had fish all day, 10¢ lb. they had just 3 left when they came here, had 300 lb. We went to Waterloo this afternoon to church, eggs are 7¢.

We canned 4 pints peas, & Aunt Mary 3 pints. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for lunch, dinner, lunch sewing dresses for her & Rosalia. Papa went down to Armstutz’s got there drag & rolled the corn patch.

Rosalia & Bertille went out to Henry’s washed, ironed; had lunch & dinner. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here. Mr. Papenberg fell from a horse, & brusied [sic] himself pretty bad; yesterday. The Wedding dance last nite brought out an awful crowd; she received so many presents, it lasted till 2 ‘o clock; the table was set for supper after 11 in the basement, there the drinks was also had, her slipper was sold by J. Cortner brought $14. Hugo got it.

We canned 4 pint peas yesterday, & having beans for dinner today. George Wagner finished up this morn. he had lunch & dinner here. Papa paid him 50¢ half day. We washed the Whippet & then drove out through the country towards evening to Nowland on Gundlach Place. Hugo Probst & Wilma Reheis are being married at 2 o clock at Smithon [sic] parsonage, she is to have white dress & wreath, & the bridemaid [sic] Irene Reheis will wear blue, Robert & Hugo wear businis [sic] suits, we had no invitiation, to the wedding dance at Daab’s Club House, so we didn’t go. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here before they went; but we where gone. Rheinhardt was to furnished music for the dance. Henry & family where up this evening.

Papa got George Wagner to help a day hauling manure out, he took $1.00; & had 2 lunches dinner & supper. It is awful hot again today. Elvira Bozzay & Hoffman are getting married this afternoon; eggs are still 7¢ yet.

We washed, ironed, quilt, & warm. Oh! My! Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this evening, eggs are 6¢ by Brauns & 7 by Eichenseers, this evening, Rosalia took 12 doz. up. We went up to the corner listened to the musci [sic], Koehler’s Orch. gave a dance in Kammlers Hall, Adm. 25¢. There where about half dozen couples there, some dance, whoopee!

We where at church. Henry came to Red Bud to around Palls corner, he went to church to, then him & papa went to Prairie Du Rocher again by Laurent to look at his mare & colt again. Ed. Schilling & Forness was published second time, & Auther [sic – Arthur] Moehrs Red Bud & Isabella Kalmer Tiptown first time. Gregson’s stoped [sic] in as they went home from church & brought a t puzzle; we worked it out already; if it is right we don’t know. Ralph Etling came & paid balance on Int. $25.85 it is now paid for 1932. We ate lunch by Uncle Freds this afternoon. Tiptown & Heckers ball team played today in the new diamond here in town. now, Hecker won 5 to 6. We drove out to Henry’s to look at the mare & cold that he traded on his cow, they wasn’t at home, so we went back again, drove out to the cemetery, around the prairie home; Uncle Fred’s went to Hy. Birkner’s birthday. We went up to Kabureck’s dance this evening, oh! boy & a good time, lot of people, hall was crowded, Rheinhardt furnished musci [sic]. The road men worked at Schender’s today, leveing [leveling?] that all of along there the road looks so much different, the hills cut down nearly all level there.

We baked cherry pie; Leslie Siebert & Alivera Jatho are to wed this afternoon in Smithon [sic] by Rev. Hasto at 2:30, she is to wear pink silk & blue sash ribbon, the attendant will be, her sister & husband, of St. Louis. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up & we went to Bill Curran’s sale back by Tiptown. Boy! believe me it sure was some sale, 2 mules brought $405. mare & colt, $175.00 everything so high priced. 15 mon. credit, Alfred May was auctioner [sic], Vincent Walsh clerk. Curran got the job to be motor cop on Route 3, they will move to Waterloo now. Authur [sic- Arthur] Fisher is to move there. Lucille McCarthy told us today that Hoffman & Elvira Bozzay of Tiptown will get married Tues. June 6, at 3 o clock in the parsonage, & shower was given to Isabella Kalmer; Mr. & Mrs. Rennecker where over this evening, she was saying that Reuben Kammler got married today, he goes to Carbondale School, & married one from there, it must of been surprised, because Wagner’s wasn’t there.

We baked bread. Papa & Rosalia went to Belleville took chickens & eggs along, eggs 8¢ chickens 14¢. Papa went out to Uncle Fred’s, with a horse trader Baur of Belleville, made no trade though. Papa & Rosalia went to Waterloo load of wheat, it is 73¢ today. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came picked & stoned the rest of the cherries today. Bertille helped & had lunch there. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Beese, Doris Breutigam & Jero Collins, a grand nephew to Uncle Fred stoped [sic] short while with them, he came from California, stay awhile to visit relatives around here in this country, he hitch hiked it here to Belleville. Seen in the paper, Louis Goessling & family moved from Waterloo to Nashville Ill, where he has a position working on a road. It was in the Belleville paper that Alivra Jatho & Leslie Siebert to wed Sat. afternoon 2:30, & Clemens Mudds & Estella Miller where married at 7, o clock mass at the cathedral; both of New Athens, Ill.

Scheinder is still puting [sic] up hay. Papa is working corn ground. Clarence Wittenauer & Wilfred Eichenseers where here talk business on ball ground, he took it & brought $12 so far, has $3 more to make, Clarence had asked all the business places in town, but couldn’t get any more & that together. Arthur Schaefer planted corn for us today for 50¢ & had lunch here. Papa was out to see him this morning about it. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon, we helped them pick & stone cherries. Uncle Fred used the mule over there this afternoon. Louis Reifschender was here, looked at the mule. eggs are only 7¢ at Eichenseers today.
