It rained this morning real nice. Rosalia is supposed to go to the dentist this morn. Henry & family came up here, then we went around the hard road to Waterloo. Bobby stayed here with papa. They are both finished now at the dentist Rosalia’s bill is $22.00 & Leona $4.00. Rosalia had 8 teeth filled. There was a furniture truck drove in to Karl Boll’s this morn, Smiths [? – unclear] & got some of his furniture. It rained this evening.

We went to Red Bud took Mrs. Staufenbiel along down. Today is Smithon’s [sic] Home coming nice cool, little cloudy. Mr. Eschman & Mrs. Beethold was here, he looked at our pigs, she is building a new house in Waterloo. We went down to Red Bud this evening church. Geo. Lorberg was selling watermellons [sic], & muschmellons [sic] this afternoon here in town, he gave some to Geo. Wagner’s. Mr. Cox, egg man from St. Louis, came this morning got our eggs 15¢ doz. 20 doz.

Papa went up to see Fix but he wasn’t at home. He stopped in at Scheinder’s at Smithon [sic] & told him we have horses for sale. Clifford came over at noon. Papa rode the saddle horse out to Henry’s & brought the mule back. Bobby & Floyd got there pictures taken on it; & rode him around. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this evening a while, to see Mr. Gambach, they aren’t going to the funeral, because they have hay to make. Jos. Schilling finished threshing 520 bu. he got. George Schilling also started today.

Uncle Fred & papa went to Waterloo on business this morn. Aunt Mary stayed here, they had dinner here, then we all went to Smithon [sic] to Bernius Sale, bought a few things. This evening we went out to Hy. Birkner’s birthday dance, nice crowd present, cake was served.

Papa went down to see Hy. Armstutz, this morn, to see if he could get the team & mower, so this afternoon he got it & cut all his hay & cheat [?] of. Henry & Emil where here & got a hog. Mr. Biebel & 3 more guys from Belleville where here & looked at the colt, he would give $65. There where 3 more fellows here, 2 from Jennington Mo. & the other from Cowell’s place & looked at the colts. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where at Monroe City at a sale. Mrs. Wilde. We went out to their place this evening, listened to the radio, dances all over to nite, Bill Sensel’s, Nic Cortner’s barn dance, Weber’s Wedding dance in Dab’s Clubhouse by Smithon [sic], Hy. Weber & Mary Crowk. I seen Arthur Stehl & Anna Herzog license in the paper, 27 & 21. Papa went to Hy. Armstutz & got the team, & mower, & took it back agin [sic] this evening.

Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s. Papa took the rake down to Bill Fritsche’s to get it fixed. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here again this afternoon & evening. Frank Birkner’s family gave them a call this evening. Rosalia & Bertille went over a little while, had popcorn. There is a dance in the school hall tonite. Hy Armstutz was here, he went fishing this morning & this evening he took Hill’s up to Smithon [sic – Smithton]. A junk dealer was here & bought 2 hens 8½ lbs. for 11¢, eggs 9¢.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here this eve. Today is Cora Armstutz birthday. They tolled the bell this morning in the Catholic church for Ed Neff’s little boy died last night, it had bad cold & fever. Mrs. Bernius from Smithon [sic- Smithton] hung herself today in her home, worried over her husband’s death about 1 mo. ago. George Schilling bought the Ganley farm today sold at the court house at Waterloo.
