We went out to Uncle Fred’s took a spring along out & brought one back, & also the mule. Henry called up, said one should come out, so papa & Rosalia went, she is going to stay. Mrs. Geodelle went home last nite, & Mrs. Cleveland stayed there & this morning; Robert came along back with papa. We cultivated the pumpkin patch. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, we helped clean house, & set things straight again had lunch, there, a watermelon, but it wasn’t very good. Steve Rennecker was here awhile, we all went along home with him to see a flower, Kings of the Night, it will be opened about midnight, it is nice.

Papa & Rosalia came out to Henry’s to see the little baby, Bertille went along home, again Mrs. Geodelle is there but, she is sick too, the baby has dark blue eyes, & black hair. We all went to Rettinghouse funeral, this afternoon, it was very large. It is awful cool tonite; need heavy blankets again.

Canned 8 qt. corn, took just ½ bu. Clara Wagner was here. The road workers started working in town today. Chas. Jung was here bought 27 lb. springs 9¢ lb. A little baby boy was born at Henry’s this evening at 7 o clock, 10 lbs. Dr. Werth’s & Mrs. Geodelle came there.

Scheiders are threshing, they finished last nite at the house & moved up here right away this morning, & started threshing 267 bus. altogether, we got 69 bus. they had them for lunch, so they ate here in the dining room. Mrs. Scheinder & Eunice, Carol Papenberg, Cecelia Parker, we had lunch with them. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up to help to; had dinner & then went to Christ Buehler’s this afternoon, threshing there. Seen in the Waterloo paper, that Mr. & Mrs. Ambrose Doyle have a baby boy & also Mr. & Mrs. Al. Crook first born. Louis Goessling & family, are back again from Nashville, & working on Hecker road now.

We washed, ironed, Pete Watchels called there little girl Alsace, & George Lorbergs called there boy William. Ed Scheinder is making hay. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up. Marshal Schender of Smithon [sic] was here, & then him & papa went out to look at Uncle Freds horses. A man was here trying to sell electric plants. We all went out to Ed. Parker’s dance, the crowd wasn’t so large as the other time. Henry Keorber announced a dance at John Lipperts June 10 musci [sic] furnished by Riverside band. Rheinhardt played tonite. Henry Henze Sr. died between 4 & 5 o clock this evening, he has been ailing for quite awhile. Mrs. Pete Wittenauer was buried this morning at Belleville, St. Luke’s church, Green Mount cemetery.

It rained last night again. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, we all & Aunt Mary went to Mr. Wm. Lauts funeral this afternoon he looked natural, it was a very large funeral. He was 60 yrs. old; & had lot of flowers, & relatives; most people from Millstadt & Waterloo, Wagner & Herman had the funeral. It is in the paper that Wm. Curran of Tiptown have a baby girl born May 18, & that they are going to have a sale on June 3rd.

Christ & Ivo Buehler where here. Bill Rechaunder [?] & Hauptfleisch where here looked at the sows & mule. He offered $30.00 for sow & 7 pigs delivered. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up all day, working there garden, we work ours, & also the potato patch. We drove out to Roy Stauenfbiel’s to look at his hogs that he wanted to sell for $1.50 a piece, but they where already sold to Arthur Hepp. Then we went to Willie Ganley’s & looked at his, & he wanted $25. It is in the paper in the transfer that Mr. & Mrs. Joe Braun sold their place in town here to J. Schmidt Receiver. Peter Watchel’s have a 6 lb. baby girl born May 15, all girls, he has 4. Barney Kaiser brought 2 loads corn today, what papa bought from him.

We where at Red Bud. Uncle Fred & papa went out to Louis Armstutz’s quarry & got 85 little fish & put them in our pond; all catfish except one sun fish. Henry & family where here for dinner, then we went to the Evangical [sic] pinic [sic] in Manier’s park, ate supper there, 40¢; they had a nice day & crowd pretty fair. Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Matthews of Waterloo, have a little baby girl since yesterday 10½ lbs; she is by Geodelle’s at home.

We went to Red Bud. We had chicken dinner by Uncle Fred’s today. Ronenbergs brought them one. Today is fish fry & dance at the Rod & Gun Club. Uncle Adam & Emil came up to see Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, then, Joe & Josie Gregson came but they wanted to come & see us, but being we where over there, they stayed there to, we all had supper. This evening we ate Watermellon [sic]. Seen in the paper that Ed Birke has a baby boy, they have 2 a girl & boy, & also Slyvester [sic – Sylvester] Doyle have a boy, first born. Elmer Kammler’s called there Donald Robert. Mr. & Mrs. Robert Laut sponsors.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for dinner & lunch. They & Bertille went to see Adam Eckert place where he is going to move tomorrow. It is a old place, the house looks awful. George Lorberg has a little girl born this morning Georgia Lee. This evening Rosalia & Bertille went up town when we heard the crash, George Lorberg’s truck with Edwin Wacthel driving as he was going to turn in his place, a car came & crash it went, the man was Busche from Red Bud, no one was hurt only cars damaged, they had to pull them in with a wrecking car. Lorberg has full coverage insurance. Edwin has no chaffeuer license & was drunk as could be. Mr. Martin May was here this afternoon.
