Papa went to Jack Dugan’s & bought a sow for $25.00. got crushing done this afternoon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up, he went up to the woods & got load rock. Ed. Meng was over awhile. Henry was here & got block & taggle, to butchered a beef soon. Horn’s funeral & in Waterloo & Dehn at Red Bud this afternoon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this evening & Rose & Berti went along to Oak Grove, Adm. 10¢, he paid it, Blossom City Orch; not much to it; one at Burksville also; at Waterloo.

We went out to Henry’s butchering, had lunch & dinner. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary helped also; Uncle Adam came down awhile, Boy! it sure was cold last night & today; Papa got crushing done this afternoon, finished butchering at 10 o’clock with everything. Ed Pabst brought load corn. The Chicago Mail Order came, papa felt boots everything OK. The Buso Sisters are having a dance at Pautlers tonite, Gents 25 ladies free. Cowboys playing. Also is a free dance at Donahue’s, given by Siefert & Donahues girl friend; Blossom City Orch; we went to bed; early.

Pap got crushing done; still no sunshine, not once this week, rainy & cloudy & colder. We went to Belleville this afternoon, pap got new cap & shirt, sweater. Bernice brought the mail.

Pap got haircut, & got crushing done; took string down to Mike Armstutz, he is shocking corn today. Cloudy today. We baked cake & mince pie; Pap hauled home corn fodder 2 loads. Hy. brought corn 2½ sacks. We washed chev; pap took it to Probsts & got it repaired. Alois Havey was here, pap spoke to him about chimney fixing, he will next Mon. afternoon if the weather is O.K. Bertille got a letter from R. Pautler, everything O.K. for a free birthday dance there on the Nov. 3. Cowboy of Rythm [sic] to play. Hot Dogs. Eggs 27¢. now.

Crushing this morning for the last time, till futher [sic] notice. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary brought us some cherries, then went to Belleville. Ivo Buehler is getting along nicely, will come home by next week Wed; if everything is alright by then. Papa got hair cut. This afternoon went out to Henry’s, going to start cutting wheat if it ain’t to wet, so he didn’t get stuck with the binder, & tractors. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, went along with us to Pautler’s Pavillion, Boy! what a nice crowd; free dance; Cowboy’s playing.

Papa & Rosalia went out to Henrys, got corn, & then got crushing done. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, stopped then went over to New Athens, to a sale, Mrs. Damstater, who killed herself a while back, she bought several things sauce pan & angel cake form. Henry came brought the colt up papa bought it from him for $50.00; sure is nice. We put a quilt in the frame.

Papa got crushing done. He went out to Geo Roth Jr. sale this afternoon, things brought fair price, he & his family will move to Hirst Place, Nel Rausch place, he is in a very poor condition not able to work. Leona brought the boys up, stayed all night, we went along with them to Waterloo Pautlers, Gus Geodelle gave the dance, had a nice crowd. Al Schneider gave one at Brezzy Hill, wasn’t very much, Moonlight there played.

Papa got crushing done. Roy Staufenbiel’s boy hasn’t got winter fever, he said he ate dried butter beans, about 40 has already passed through. Mr. Ed Pabst brought 3 sacks potatoes, clover seed & lumber this morning. Hy. Armstutz brought ¹⁄3 corn. It rained a little this morning. but then the sun came, out nice again. Mr. Edwin Neff, sued Jake Orlet & Gus Schaefer for striking him at the dance in Paderborn Tues. night, knocked him in the head broke his glasses, must of been a real fight, the way it is said. Mr. Lawrence Matthews is giving a birthday dance at Pautlers tonite, ladies free.

Henry & family came, he plowed, they had dinner & supper here, chicken with dressing. Leona & kids went home this afternoon, went to Waterloo, came back this evening; for supper Wagners family came & we had some hot pinochle games losers drop out. Papa & Robert got crushing done this morning. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped then went to New Anthen’s. Tonite they went to Rod & Gun Club, Probst’s birthday celebration.

Papa got crushing done. We went to Belleville this afternoon got bu. apples at Schmisseur’s Store for $1.00. It rained a little this morning. Mr. Hugo Schwagel of Smithon [sic], storeman & Miss Edna Southoff of Millsdat [sic] were united in marriage at New Baden at 7 o clock by Fr. Wallers this morning; surprize [sic] to there many friends. Mr. Henry Weigand is in the Hospital at Belleville, operated on Thurs. morning for appendix, is getting along well. Mr. Willie Matzenbacher’s called there baby boy Werner & Osie Matzenbacher called there Harold.
