Pap got crushing done. Henry & Floyd were here. Sure getting colder again, warm yesterday, & cold all at once; suppose to be zero tonite. Eggs 25¢ today. Sold cheese & butter to Wagners.

Pap got crushing done, then went to Red Bud to see Burdgorf, but he wasn’t at home; he went to see Hartmann; Mr. J. Eshmann of Columbia, was here wanted to buy sow, also looked at the cow; Mr. Kunkelmann was here wanted to see dad. He went to Hellmers sale at Red Bud; bought 15¢, flower stand, bread board, sprinkle can; Mr. Faust was buried this afternoon at Red Bud, 8 cars passed by, wasn’t very large. Snowing tonite. Jimmie & Dick played at Stolbergs Lake tonite at Belleville.

Pap got crushing done; Henry & boy’s came up to. Pap, Steve Rennecker, Rob. Laut went to Pete Dehn’s sale, everything was high price, they said; Burdgorf was here looked at the cattle. Steve got 5¢ milk tonite. Joe Manier’s got fish fry tonite. Henry was saying, John Kern is in jail, scraping with Mosio; took our quilt out of the frame today. Rose & Berti name went over the radio today, but they didn’t say requested for Aunt Mary’s birthday, Jimmie & Dick played. Mexican Trail; The German Band, played one for a lady at Evansville this afternoon; Sure got good program tonite from Dismoinies [sic – Des Moines] Iowa; lot of good riddles & jokes.

Cold this morning, getting colder, radio said zero by tomorrow morning. Henry & boys were here, they crushing done. People from the other side of Belleville Klielpomp was here looking for sow & pigs, but ours was already sold. Eggs went up 1¢ on the radio today. There is a birthday dance at Pautlers, musci [sic] by Rythm [sic] Kings. Gents 25 ladies free. Pat May has one at Donahue’s. We listened to the radio till 10 o’clock, boy!

Saturday, Jan. 11, 1936

Beautiful day. Pap got crushing done; Henry & boy’s came up, got crushing done, also, they took there Sun. clothes along. We sure had good radio musci [sic], this afternoon, German Band. Papa went to Belleville to see Streck Bros; coming out Mon. Walt Herbert, came got the black cow $65.00. Frank Finnerty is having a dance at Pautler’s tonite. Musci [sic] by Moonlight Orch.

Sunday, Jan. 5, 1936

We went to Waterloo church, & then went to Gus Geodelle’s to see Leona, she is very weak, gets nothing to eat, not much; we brought Floyd along with us to. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed awhile. Henry came to get crushing this afternoon. Wilbert Geodelle is having a birthday dance at Pautlers tonite, musci [sic] by Rythm [sic] Kings. John Kaltwasser is being buried this afternoon at Stehfests cemetery, from Belleville; Eugene Ahern of Waterloo will be buried Tues. morn.

Pap got crushing done. Rob went along up. Henry & Floyd came to get crushing done to. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came. Berti went along to Belleville, they had supper here. Joe Griffin came here & put a radio in for us Wilcox Gay – $25 complete. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed & listed to it this evening.

Saturday, Dec. 28, 1935

Pap took chev. to Probsts, & oil pump isn’t working, & he hasn’t any new ones there at present, so will have to wait till Tues; but he got it a going again this afternoon. George Wagner’s are butchering, got it from Gus. Klotz. Hy. Armstutz is doing the work. Beautiful morning snowed all nite, everybody is busy sweeping sidewalks this morn. Henry stopped in, he got crushing done this afternoon. Charles brought the mail. Monroe Feruer came papa had to sign Pabsts contracts papers.

Pap got crushing done. Mr. Rennecker got 1 qt. milk for 5¢. Mr. Kettler of Paderborn was here, looked at the mare, pap went to see his this afternoon, also went to Knab’s. Henry & Leona went to Belleville left the boys here they went skating on the pond. Pap took chev. to Probst’s got a new battery put in $7.00 & fan belt put on 65¢.

Pap got crushing done. Con Myerscough & son Leo stopped in to see our mare, didn’t buy yet. Rain this afternoon & nite. Berti got a answer from the Extension Magazaine [sic] that dances in advent & lent, was no sin, & could also go on St. Patricks. night. Myrtle Keim of Waterloo is having a birthday dance at Pautlers tonite. Moonlight Orch. Adm. Gents 25 ladies free.
