Cloudy little shower this morn. Went to Belleville to dentist, church & shopping this afternoon; seen a man about 10 or 12 ft. hight walking the streets, adv. Rex Theathre [sic], & girl dancing on a Pontiac top; adv. pontiac cars. Fr. Stern passed away yesterday afternoon, Red Bud hospital; Leo & Rose came down, brought the horse back; Henry & family also came.

We paint chicken house etc. Pierre got milk. We planted 53 cabbage plants. Oscar Birkner have 18 mons. Muriel’s picture taken at Belleville Studio it is in the paper, also Jerome Cortner’s girl’s picture to be 2 yrs old in Aug. 31. Gypsy Joe sang a song for Lorraine Cortner by Ray Neff.

Went to Waterloo, got flour etc. paid take $247.21. Painting our chicken houses now, started yesterday. Pierre came brought a jar for milk in the morn. Uncle Fred & A. Mary came this eve, planted plants. We planted 53 cabbage & 2 rows mushmellons this eve. Eggs $.74 Wheat $1.27. The Oscar Birkner & Grahlerr h case which was at Belleville last week, Birkner won Grahlerr has to paid $33. for selling posts & straw.

Went to Belleville, pap got his teeth again, ain’t much better so far. Another beautiful day. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up. We got 132 chicks, from 12 hens. Clarence Braun’s have baby girl born Wed. at Belleville hospital. Mrs. Adam Eckert sold her house in town here to Adam Eckert, transfer in paper. We have 2 ducks, 1 egg didn’t hatch & the another 1 is broken. Set 5 more.

Acenscion [sic] Holiday. Went to mass at 6 at Red Bud. Fr. Stern is very low received last sacrements [sic] Mon. Uncle Adam’s birthday 87 yrs. We went to Belleville, pap went to dentist, & we did shopping. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary & Leo & Rose were all in there also, & lot of people from all over. Uncle Fred & A. Mary came planted cabbage plants 50 across the street. Miss Mildred Gambach is at Belleville hospital operated on. Sly. Kabureck is again at home. Brauns from Eliza Ball’s house moved to W. Monike’s house last week. For one day at least it didn’t rain so far. Uncle Fred & A. Mary, Henry & family, & Leo & Rose were all here this evening.

Cleaned dining room, awful warm. Olive Laut was here, wanted duck eggs. Chas. Helfrich got load hay this afternoon; $12.70. A fellow here selling fish; we didn’t take none. Sly. Kabureck is at Belleville Hospital operation appendix getting along well; took Mrs. Joe Kaiser in Mon. to be operated appendix.

Pap got his haircut, Mr. Griffin was here got some oats for his chickens. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came went along with us to Belleville, Bert got dress & hat etc., went to church. Henry & Floyd were up this morn. Eggs 17¢. Tax receipts came, much higher again this yr. $247. Bill Geodelle moved today from Omer’s Emil Schilling place to Bretsch’s some were near Broad Hollow, they say Emil has his place for sale.

Rained last nite. We went to Belleville took 2 hogs in the last ones, got $9.95 – 440 lbs; hogs coming down rapidly. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this eve. awhile. Vic Eichenseer fixed our pump, this eve. Pap went to Christ Buehler’s got 7 doz. eggs for setting 20¢ doz. Rhode Island Reds. Henry & Leo chixs all came today, all was alright this time.

Ironed curtains, patched. Roman Meng the acessor [sic] was here. Steve Rennecker brought the boards back what he got for papering. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came Bert went along to Waterloo to Wihelm’s sale, bought flower pots, got free can paint at Hamacher’s, advertising, also got chance to win 3 articles to be raffled tonite there. Received the benefit check – $102.03. Raining & colder this eve. Literary in Public School tonite; speaking by H. Hill, Sup of Schools of Belleville. Birkners Och. & Dor. & Osc. Lippert. Eggs .20¢ today. Wheat $1.39.
