Advent. Went to mass. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed awhile. Fourth’s of Tiptown was here, looked at hiefers [sic] & colt. John Myerscough also came to see them; him & papa went out to see the horses at Henry’s. The Turkey dinner on Thanksgiving here brought in clear $153; he says success. Oscar Birkner had the baby christened Fri; sponsors Ben Schilling Cecelia Krehrer; named it Muriel Cecelia. Pretty cold tonite, freezing hard.

Saturday, Nov. 30, 1935

Papa went to Jack Dugan’s & bought a sow for $25.00. got crushing done this afternoon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up, he went up to the woods & got load rock. Ed. Meng was over awhile. Henry was here & got block & taggle, to butchered a beef soon. Horn’s funeral & in Waterloo & Dehn at Red Bud this afternoon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this evening & Rose & Berti went along to Oak Grove, Adm. 10¢, he paid it, Blossom City Orch; not much to it; one at Burksville also; at Waterloo.

Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1935

Cloudy & raining a little. Berti went up to church. Wedding mass of Clarence Braun & Verna Stiehl, she turned Catholic, single ring ceremony, bride wore dark blue, blouses & skirt, coat, & hat shoes; white crystahemums [sic], & bridesmaid Marie Braun wore the same only tan color; yellow flowers, Hugo Ray was best man; wedding dance at Kammler’s tonite, we went, had nice time; cake, Schmidts Orch.; of Herb & 2 sons, 2 Braun Wms. girls, & Edgar Wittenauer. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came bought 2 roasters here, 9 lbs. @ 15¢; cleaned & dressed them ready for tomorrow. Pap & Rose hauled bad old wheat to Waterloo got 91¢, lot is 96¢ today. Mr. & Mrs. Ed Brand of Alalabama [sic] visited us this afternoon, had supper here. Henry & family came this evening. Mamie came down then we went to the dance together. Bert Thompson was here to see Henry; so much company. Henry received a letter from Barrenphol’s lawyer on account of the colt business, he wants $25.00 if paid in short time. Oscar Birkner’s have a baby girl born yesterday evening, also Armin Geodelle’s have a baby girl. Otto Horn, suit agent at Waterloo, also Justice of peace 38 yrs. old was killed in an auto accident in town on Tues; Archie Wiehl was the one that had collision with him, on Fourth St. Libory  he was thrown out of car, & never regained conscience; both cars turned over, & completely wrecked; they say; it is terrible, had left his home about ½ hour before it happened; John Hieken was with Horn at the time, but not hurt bad.

Monday, Nov. 25, 1935

We washed, ironed, patched, pap went out to get his men to help saw wood this afternoon; Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, he helped & Henry & Emil, Geo Schilling sawed, also J. Mueth & J. Mason & Omer helped 25¢ for 1½ hrs. work; finished about 3’o clock; they were home, Uncle & Aunt had supper here. Eggs 31¢ today Berti got the corn checks & wheat checks cashed, altogether $41.30.

Friday, Nov. 22, 1935

Cold this morning, froze hard last nite. Pap is hauling corn fodder. We baked bread. Mr. & Mrs. Henry Millman of Red Bud celebrated there 50th Wedding Ann. at Red Bud on Nov. 3; children were all present, except Geo. who is in Minnesota. Eggs are 31¢ here.

Thursday, Nov. 21, 1935

Papa went in is hauling corn fodder. The young people’s Sodality of Red Bud has a euchre party tonite in the ball there. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & Rose & Bert went along to the euchre. Rose had 11 points & played a sleeper for pap; got 2 prizes, 4½ pecans & glass plate; the rest of us got nothing; they played 16 games; & then cash lotto in basement after the card party upstairs. Mrs. Amada [sic – Amanda] Collier got attendance prize, a pair pillow cases. Pap broke the rear axle in the Whip; hauling corn fodder, Probst came down in the field & pulled to the garage, had it repaired $5.60 with labor.

Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1935

Fried down bacon & sausage. Send a order to Chicago Mail Order for shoes, felts for pap. Today Barbara Schoenborn of Paderborn working at Belleville & Roos are being married at the Catherdral [sic] at Belleville, dance at Daab’s Club House tonite, musci [sic] by Clem Rheinhardt & Gus Schaefer & Jake Schoenborn. & Joe Freund & Viola Einwich have a double birthday dance at Pautler’s, musci [sic] by Moonlighters, Gents 25 ladies free & goose as attendance prize, he send Berti a invitation card. Hy. Armstutz brought load corn. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this evening & took Rose & Berti along, went to Pautlers to the birthday dance; Lanking won the goose, but he has so many; so they gave him $1.50; 1 kept the goose; pretty nice crowd.

Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1935

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, got there liver sausage & kettle grease; had lunch, we washed, ironed, rendered lard got 3 gals. Papa went in woods. The Y.P.L. has a euchre & dance in Kammler’s Hall tonite. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, then Ros & Bert went along up to the euchre. Uncle was the lucky one, he got prize, a flower vase, had 7 points, we had 6, played 12 games; then danced but Moonlight Orch; the prizes weren’t so nice, pretty nice crowd; Mrs. Milton Wagner won attendance prize. There is also euchre & dance at Paderborn.

Sunday, Nov. 17, 1935

Went to Red Bud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed up for dinner chicken; he & papa went out to Joe Henkel’s to look at the pigs, going to get 2 from him & butcher tomorrow. Leona came brought the kids up, we went along with them to Waterloo to Pautler’s, to the Rythm [sic] Kings, dance new orchestra, Laf. Geoddel Glessmer, & V. Keim, accordion, guitar & drums, sure good & crowd.

Saturday, Nov. 16, 1935

Pap got crushing done; still no sunshine, not once this week, rainy & cloudy & colder. We went to Belleville this afternoon, pap got new cap & shirt, sweater. Bernice brought the mail.
