Ex. for confirmation in Evangical [sic] church today, girls have to wear all white. Berniece Wagner, Wilma Birkner, Myrtle Neff & Jeneate [sic] Geoddel. Went to mass. Mrs. Mauer asked for the bake sale to be on Apr. 8, we gave 50 [cents]. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came, she went to church. Bill [Klein] & Bert [Bertille] went to Henry’s. they weren’t at home; took ride pass club houses & over to Leo’s awhile. Tonite they came here & we went to Henry’s; celebrating birthdays.

Monday, Jan. 9, 1939

Uncle Fred’s butchered 2 hogs here today – 206 & 214 lbs. Henry & family & Leo & family all helped, raining nearly all morning. Emil came over awhile. A. [Aunt] Mary gave him some liver. Marita has a little cold. Eggs sure down 15 [cents].

Sunday, Jan. 8, 1939

Went to mass. Mrs. McCafferey passed out. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stayed awhile. We took pictures this afternoon, such a beautiful day. Mr. Judge Schneider is being buried this afternoon from Wagner’s funeral parlor to church & was buried at Catholic Cemetery by his wife. Mr. Klube of Waterloo died to, will be buried Tues; Mrs. Geodelle’s Uncle. Bill [Klein] & Bert [Bertille] went to Paulters tonite to a dance given by Ozark Ridge runners, swell music but no crowd, mostly all Columbia people there; musci [sic] sure good.

Monday, Jan. 10, 1938

Cloudy all day, we went out to Henry’s butchering, had dinner, finished up about 2 o clock brought load oats along. Went out again for supper; Geoddels also came out, we made gal. ice cream we took the ice & bannanas [sic] along out, played musci [sic]. Ray brought his guitar along. He said Pautlers had big crowd, Neff & Probst’s birthday dance, couple fights he said. Rhenhardts quite [sic – quit] playing musci [sic] now, Ray joined Keim’s Och. now, played first time with them Sat. nite; at Dreamland Palace; have several jobs.

Friday, April 30, 1937

Cleaned bedroom; nice warm. Uncle Fred & A. Mary came this afternoon. We went out to Henry’s this eve; They had school pinic [sic] out there, last for this term; after they got home, Floyd fell on ground rail, & broke his arm, same one were he cut his finger of yr. ago now; they took him to Dr. Werth, he set it now, but wants them to go to Stallmann & have an exray [sic] taken of it. he says he didn’t fall hard just stumble, broke both bones, a piece up from the wrist. Geodelle’s were also out this eve; it pains quite a bit he says. After we got home Leo & Rose came yet, also Jake & Fred Schaefer, stayed a little while; they brought there eggs to store.

Monday, Aug. 10, 1936

We washed & ironed, pretty hot, 90 at 1:30 o’clock. Geo. Boll was around selling water mellons [sic], etc. we bought 2 muskmelon 10¢. Pap went out helped Henry spread lime dust. Leona is in Waterloo, Mrs. Geodelle was pretty bad sick for 3 days; is little better.

Sunday, Nov. 17, 1935

Went to Red Bud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed up for dinner chicken; he & papa went out to Joe Henkel’s to look at the pigs, going to get 2 from him & butcher tomorrow. Leona came brought the kids up, we went along with them to Waterloo to Pautler’s, to the Rythm [sic] Kings, dance new orchestra, Laf. Geoddel Glessmer, & V. Keim, accordion, guitar & drums, sure good & crowd.
