Papa & Rosalia hauled wood this morning, we cleaned chicken house today. Metzger got there mule today. Henry sold a heifer calf today for $10.00 & his 7 pigs to Kirleis. We went out to Henry’s this evening, Floyd’s 4 yr. birthday, Geodells family, Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Bill Freund, cake was served, birthday cake with 4 candles. They say the Waterloo bank aren’t opened yet. Egg man didn’t come, 9 & 11¢.

We all went out to Uncle Fred’s had chicken dinner, then got ready & went to Waterloo to see the parade & pinic [sic], it was good, & this evening we went out to Geo. Fruend’s, they had a little boy, celebrating Creses birthday, had supper there. It was a nice day.

We washed, ironed. Papa is disking. Wm. Ganley was here this afternoon. We had a nice shower rain this afternoon but not enough. Bertille took 2 doz. eggs up for Aunt Mary got 20¢. They told her that Mr. Philip Freund of Waterloo fell over dead this morning.

We went to Waterloo to Elizabeth Freund & Frank Kruse got married at the Catholic Church, Creses & his brother where best. We took our eggs to the Monroe Hatchery also this morn, they pay 5¢ above St. Louis price. Papa went out to Henkel’s to fan clover seed afternoon. We sure are having beautiful weather.

We went to Mrs. John Ganley’s funeral this morning, it was rather large, the pallbearers where 6 nephews, Joe & Philip Brauch, Bill & Philip Freund, Gregory & Levi Ganley. The priest has a free dance in the school hall tonite only for the Catholics, Protestants are not wanted he said “in Church. We went out to Uncle Fred’s awhile this eve, listened in on the radio.

Went to Red Bud church. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for dinner & supper. Josie Keller is spending today & tomorrow in Hecker visiting friends. Aunt Mary went to the mission service this afternoon. Henry & family where here this evening playing 5 hand pinochle. Bert Tomphson was here to look at our pigs. Leona said Eliza Freund & Kruse where published for first time this morn. & Pearl Geodell second & Slyvanus Schroeder last time.

We all went to Red Bud church. The Hecker Priest read Ignatz Neff name off this morning, he signed the paper at Belleville, this week his kids can come back to school if they want too. Osie Neff was here looking for Uncle Fred. Today is homecoming at Floraville. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came here & then about 4:30 left for the picnic. Joe Hibbert the carpenter & his brother Frank & a cousin was here for a short visit. He was visiting Hecker friends this afternoon. This evening we drove out to Henry’s took them along & went to the basement floor dance at George Freund’s. Adm. 30¢ as enter. Rheinhardt & Skaer furnished musci [sic], 3 pieces. Papa was up at the store awhile & he also stopped at George Wagner’s, she said that her sister Lorenia Merhmann & Orlindo Skaer are getting married next Sat. Sept 26 at Floraville.

We went to Smithon [sic] church. Aunt Mary went to Hecker, he was pretty loud again today for being sick all week. Bill Freund was here & gave us an invite to George Freund’s Sun. night for a dance. Wiegands boy’s invited us for a dance at the brick house Wed. night. Rosalia & Bertille went up to see Mamie & Angela this afternoon. This evening we went to see Joe Watchel’s little boy, Papa went over to Wagners awhile. They are chivarie Frank Krolls tonight. Edwin Watchel is giving a dance at the brick house tonight. Gus, Blackburn & Roy Stauenbiel playing musci [sic].

Papa went to Waterloo to get he watch fixed. Leona & the kids where here. Steve Freund from Ohio was here & gave us a call this afternoon. He is selling papers to help the young boys who are getting there free education to become priests. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up this afternoon, we baked a cake for Mrs. Roneberg’s birthday tomorrow. Henry came up this afternoon & this evening to see about threshing. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for lunch.
