Fried down bacon & sausage. Send a order to Chicago Mail Order for shoes, felts for pap. Today Barbara Schoenborn of Paderborn working at Belleville & Roos are being married at the Catherdral [sic] at Belleville, dance at Daab’s Club House tonite, musci [sic] by Clem Rheinhardt & Gus Schaefer & Jake Schoenborn. & Joe Freund & Viola Einwich have a double birthday dance at Pautler’s, musci [sic] by Moonlighters, Gents 25 ladies free & goose as attendance prize, he send Berti a invitation card. Hy. Armstutz brought load corn. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this evening & took Rose & Berti along, went to Pautlers to the birthday dance; Lanking won the goose, but he has so many; so they gave him $1.50; 1 kept the goose; pretty nice crowd.

Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1935

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, got there liver sausage & kettle grease; had lunch, we washed, ironed, rendered lard got 3 gals. Papa went in woods. The Y.P.L. has a euchre & dance in Kammler’s Hall tonite. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, then Ros & Bert went along up to the euchre. Uncle was the lucky one, he got prize, a flower vase, had 7 points, we had 6, played 12 games; then danced but Moonlight Orch; the prizes weren’t so nice, pretty nice crowd; Mrs. Milton Wagner won attendance prize. There is also euchre & dance at Paderborn.

Monday, Nov. 18, 1935

Henry & Leona, Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here butchered 2, one for us & 242 lbs. & one for Uncle Freds 250 lbs; the boys went to school; Uncle Fred took load home & came back again for supper; it is his birthday 61 yrs. old, we went out this evening. Henry & family, Chris Buehlers family & Oscar Birkner & 2 boy’s & Kenneth Neff, were there, played pinochle, games, sang songs, had cake, cookies. Fredrick Fritsch was here wanted eggs, we had none. Hy. Armstutz brought load corn. Hecker school has visiting day; no school here.

Sunday, Nov. 17, 1935

Went to Red Bud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed up for dinner chicken; he & papa went out to Joe Henkel’s to look at the pigs, going to get 2 from him & butcher tomorrow. Leona came brought the kids up, we went along with them to Waterloo to Pautler’s, to the Rythm [sic] Kings, dance new orchestra, Laf. Geoddel Glessmer, & V. Keim, accordion, guitar & drums, sure good & crowd.

Saturday, Nov. 16, 1935

Pap got crushing done; still no sunshine, not once this week, rainy & cloudy & colder. We went to Belleville this afternoon, pap got new cap & shirt, sweater. Bernice brought the mail.

Friday, Nov. 15, 1935

Cloudy, rainy. Mehrmann got 3 doz. eggs. 30¢ doz. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped in, they went to Waterloo. It is in the Times that Ralph Rausch now works in Kroger store at Belleville; also the Wedding of Haudrich & Daugherty going on a honeymoon to Chicago, then make there home at Ridgwood Mo. Miss Vera Grasse & Jim Mueller were married at 6 o’clock by Rev. Kochheim at the home of the bride’s parents, were they were also remarried on there wedding anniversary on Nov. 12; she had 3 showers; kitchen, miscellaneous, & groceries, & was given a mix master & ice cream freezer in the Hughes home. Mueller is secretary at Farm Bureau office.

Thursday, Nov. 14, 1935

Pap went in the woods. Henry & Leona came & Billy. Henry went to Sam Mosio’s to get the corn & hog checks. his is $7 – 3.11, & paps one is $6.54 & $2.92; very little. Mehrman came & borrowed hammer; Wagner’s & Mehrmanns came over this evening had pinochle game. Mr. Mehrmann had 1500 trump again & also Berti had 1500 in clubs; different games.

Wednesday, Nov. 13, 1935

Papa went up in the woods. Cloudy & smoky weather. Wedding Bells are ringing today at Paderborn for Chas. Daugherty of Mo. & Elvira Haudrich; we went up to the dance, & my what a crowd, she got lot presents, we gave her a dresser scarf; Skaers played for the dance; she wore white satin dress, & all white also veil; her bridesmaids were, Annie Karban & Lorreta Haudrich, dark wine velvet dresses, with hats; & Elmer Karban & Daugherty best men; all dark blue suits; ushers Cryil [sic – Cyril] Haudrich & guy; she was given at the altar by her father. Rosalia went quilting by Geo. Wagners; sunburst quilt. Bernice came & told her, to come over, Pap took chev. to Probst’s got it greased, brakes tightened, 30029 mile. Mr. & Mrs. Alex Katzler of St. Louis have a baby boy born last Fri. Louisa Braun is working there now. Ed Brand is here came this afternoon to Uncle Adam’s.

Tuesday, Nov. 12, 1935

Ironed. Pap took the Whip to Probst’s got it greased & brakes adjusted, & oil changed 17020 miles. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up this afternoon, he went on business to Ed. Meng’s. Raining again, cloudy & colder. Bernice got doz eggs; she didn’t go to school, has hives; the boys went today.

Monday, Nov. 11, 1935

We washed, cleaned things for butchering. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped awhile, then went up to the Armistice Wustmark [sic- Wurstmart], dinner & supper at the School Hall, every family has to bring a cake; & donations to pay for the rest of the eatable, cafeteria style 25¢ plate; had a pretty nice crowd. It rained nearly all night.
