Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1936

Pap went out to help Henry again. We canned 8 qts. kraut. Had chicken dinner. Mondaville has church pinic [sic] today. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & took Berti along, had chicken supper there, German Band played; in evening, we stayed till 8:30, had nice time. Pap brought Billy [Willis] along home at noon, & nearly bu. pickles; we canned 16 qts.& 1 gal. & gave some to the neighbors yet. Eggs 20¢. Streets in town look pretty nice.

Sunday, Aug. 2, 1936

Went to Red Bud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed awhile. We went out to Henry’s Billy’s [Willis] 3 yr. birthday, had lunch. Omer came there to. We went to Smithton Home Coming this eve. nice parade at 6:30 many beautiful floats; & lots of people.

Thursday, Nov. 14, 1935

Pap went in the woods. Henry & Leona came & Billy. Henry went to Sam Mosio’s to get the corn & hog checks. his is $7 – 3.11, & paps one is $6.54 & $2.92; very little. Mehrman came & borrowed hammer; Wagner’s & Mehrmanns came over this evening had pinochle game. Mr. Mehrmann had 1500 trump again & also Berti had 1500 in clubs; different games.

Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1935

Leona brought Billy [Willis] up to stay till tomorrow. Walter Reheis 30 & Hilda Klube 29 are being married in priest house by F. Eshmann Waterloo Ill. Henry & Leona as attendants, at 2:30 this afternoon. Hilda has a green dress & Black hat, & assesories [sic] & Leona dark rust dress & hat, black shoes; the men dark suits; going to have yellow & rust colored bouquets, it is also Annies 38 birthday; the supper is to be served 4:30 at Reheis for close relatives, brothers & sisters. Jake’s wife is to bake the cake, good supper. Mr. Wm. Gregson’s who lives in Gambach’s place, here are moving to W.C. Heyls farm today. Christ Buehler’s truck, Levis & Mrs. Renneker are helping to move them. The Young ladies are sodality of Hecker parish are giving a euchre party at school hall tonite; second for this month already. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came here first then went; we didn’t go. Rose got the boys from school & did Henry’s work, feeding & milking; then came home, boys stayed all night. Alois Havey & Stockel of Waterloo, fixed our chimney, cleaned furnace, took pipe out & etc.

Thursday, Sept. 26, 1935

Rain all day. No Sparta fair today. Ed Pabst brought the potatoes this morning; quite a few, about 8 bus. Rose sewed a jumper for Billy. Loyd Pabst & Alvin Voges is working in the Eagle Stove Foundry at Belleville now.

Monday, Sept. 17, 1934

We washed, ironed. Henry, Leona & Billy were up had dinner, Papa & Henry went down to School House got there corn & hog checks, Henry got a $90. check, & papa $43. & $2.40 from Ed. Pabst contract, but it is not all straightened out yet. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up, she & Berti went to see Mrs. Staufenbiel. Papa & Rosi went to Red Bud, wanted to get oil changed but it is all o.k. also wanted for all paper, but couldn’t get none; brought some home made liver sausage along all had supper here. Gus Klotz brought lime dust spreader home here again. Manier’s had a fish fry & dance Sat. night, selling fill all day yesterday 15¢; didn’t have much of a crowd. Mr. George Schilling & Ben left last Tues. for Indiana to see the sisters come back last night, Sister Brunslava, one that used to be a sister in the Hecker Schools, several years ago send a pin with them Lizzie Boll; she surely was happy about it.
