Awful cold, snowing a little today. The fire department was called to Bert Thompson’s chimney on fire but no damage done. Authur Geodelle & Alberta Friedrich were married Wed. morning by Kochheim at 10 o’clock. Laf. Geodelle best man. Pretty cold is to be 20 degrees tonite.

Friday, Nov. 15, 1935

Cloudy, rainy. Mehrmann got 3 doz. eggs. 30¢ doz. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped in, they went to Waterloo. It is in the Times that Ralph Rausch now works in Kroger store at Belleville; also the Wedding of Haudrich & Daugherty going on a honeymoon to Chicago, then make there home at Ridgwood Mo. Miss Vera Grasse & Jim Mueller were married at 6 o’clock by Rev. Kochheim at the home of the bride’s parents, were they were also remarried on there wedding anniversary on Nov. 12; she had 3 showers; kitchen, miscellaneous, & groceries, & was given a mix master & ice cream freezer in the Hughes home. Mueller is secretary at Farm Bureau office.

Thursday, July 19, 1934

Baked doughnuts. Dug bucket potatoes. Awful hot. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this evening, they were helping Papenberg’s thresh tomorrow at Walter Wittenauer’s I guess. Henry & family came, the men folks all went with him out to George Cortner’s to look at a horse. Hy. Gruber was buried this afternoon at Waterloo. Wagner’s Undertaker, 16 cars in all with Rev. Kochheim.

Tuesday, June 12, 1934

Awwful [sic] wind & rain last night. Papa & Rose went to Belleville with load hogs. 3 to Strecks, 2 weighed 355 lbs. at $3.70, & 1 sow, 290 lbs @ $3.00. We washed, ironed beautiful day pop is hauling manure. The umbrella & scissor sharpener was around, Miss Marie Fults, my 2nd yr. school teacher, & Clarence Heberer from Mascoutah were married Sun. morning at the Evangical [sic] church, of Waterloo, by Rev. Kochkeim, the attendants were, Miss Dorothy Werling, a friend, & Miss Luella Fults a sister to the bride. Elaine Kochheim flower girl, Donny Gleiber, nephew of the bride, ring bearer. Clarence Kinchoefer of Decatur a friend as  best man, & Clifford Heberer, brother of bridegroom. The Wedding dinner was served at the bride’s parents, Mr. & Mrs. Laf. Fults. They then departed in the afternoon for Denver Colo. for a visit with relatives; then to Boulder to attend summer school; Arriving home about Aug. 1. taking up residence in Mascoutah, where he is employed as teacher in the Public School; Miss Fults was teacher for 11 yrs. in the grade school, in Waterloo. Mr. Heberer is the son of Mrs. Conrad Juenger of Lenzburg. Miss Fults is also soloist for both the Evangical [sic] & Methodist Episcopal Churches, & a member of the Choir.
