Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up & then we all went to the Farmer’s Insititute [sic] at Waterloo, they disposed of 9 turkeys, they sent the roosters of the Odd Fellows hall & the one that catches it gets the turkey. A hard times dance concluded it, Adm. 25¢ for men. We registered for 5 gals motor oil, that the Farm Buruea [sic] gives away. They had all nice quilts & needle work, on exhibition, John Reheis brought a pumpitn [?] in & got 1 prize on it. Henry brought a load of corn today. Babe Johnson 54 yrs old marshall of Waterloo fell over dead Mon. nite & buried yesterday. Eunice Fritsche license 19 yrs old & Causby’s was in paper.
Wednesday, Nov. 2, 1932
We went to 6 o clock mass. Ed Meng was here yesterday morn, wanted to buy hog for market price; but papa won’t sell none like that yet, for that price, 335 100 lbs corn. Arthur Budde, Cecil Starr husband, was here trying to trade cars, he is working for Berdeker Garage at Red Bud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, she went to church. Henry & family came up too; they sold almost all of there beef at Waterloo today. We had popcorn. Bertille went up to the dentist & paid $11.50, he had costumers [sic] waiting this morn. Steve Rennecker brought our trees along from Red Bud, what Kirsch replaced. There was stock sale at Rutz’s barn today. Christ Buehler bought 7 hogs 125 to 150 lbs. for $35.00, Steve said, corns brought $45 & $50.00. Wincklein Auctioneer. George Boll went around town selling beef today, he sold hindquarters 15 front 13 soup meat 11¢.
Tuesday, November 1, 1932
We went to Red Bud church at 6’o clock mass. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for dinner. Henry came up this afternoon & him & Rosalia went around town selling beef, he sold to a good many here. We took 10½ lbs, he sold it at 10 & 12¢ lb. He killed it this morn, Osie Neff did it; tomorrow morning, he is going to take the rest to Waterloo. Mrs. Robert Laut & Marcella Boll went over to Uncle Fred’s place this afternoon but they where over here, they didn’t come over. Mamie & Clarence came down tonite, he brought his needle work along down; we played euchre, & ate popcorn.
Monday, Oct. 17, 1932
Mr Jung egg man was here & told us about some roosters. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon. Today is Kenneth Kemp’s birthday. Skinny Petri is getting buried this afternoon at Waterloo. Papa fixed a brick wall for flowers all around the house. Clara Wagner & kids came over to see it. George is working out at Ed. Cortners, tomorrow he has to go to Belleville. Uncle Fred went up to see Louis Birkner he is down in bed with rinhmatism [sic – rheumatism].

Papa went out to Armstutz Quarry & got a load of chat & lime for our walk for 50¢. Rosalia & Bertille went to Waterloo paid the Waterloo Times & took 24 doz. eggs @ 22¢. Stopped at Henrys. Geodells from St. Louis are coming to see them tomorrow. Mrs. Adolph Petri called out to Hill’s this morning & told them that George Petri Skinny got killed sometime last night or the morn, his machine turned over & he was pinned under, she taught [sic – thought] may be the wheels clocked, they brought him home dead. The Fahey boy said he went out squirrel hunting Fri. nite at 11 o clock & upset in a sink hole & broke his neck. Harry Kammler’s got a dance tonite, muscis [sic] “by the Country Club Orchestra, Adm. 35¢.
Thursday, Oct. 6, 1932
Francis Eichenseer was here & looked if he should get here with his truck, he is going to bring a load afterwhile. Papa is going to Waterloo & to Ed. Rehlings to see the building of a straw hen house, he said there were a good many people there. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon, Rosalia & Bertille had lunch over there. We picked 2 sacks full green tomatoes & they took them along for Ronnerberg. Odillo & Wilfred onloaded the coal, 100 bus. $13.00. Mrs. Kock is having a birthday celebration tonight at Coxeyville, we didn’t go, we had an invitation & it was also in the paper.
Friday, Sept. 23, 1932
We went to Waterloo took our lard, 100 lbs. 6¢ $6.00. We stopped in at Henry’s brought the kettle & milk seperator [sic] along. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up for the evening, Willie Birkner’s family came & we went over, they brought all there instruments along, accordian [sic], mandolin, violin, guitar, bandoria, music was the main feauture [sic] of the eve, doughnuts & lemonade where served. Henry brought a load of corn this evening, the boys came along to.
Thursday, Sept. 22, 1932
Papa went to Waterloo this morn, & got the whippet repaired, brakes fixed, car greased & oil changed for $12.94. Mrs. Rennecker was here awhile this morn. A man around selling fish 20¢ lb. Mr. Fisher the butcher from Waterloo was here & looked at our cow, & hogs. Walter Gregson was here & bought stock roosters @ 10½¢ lb. 18 lb. This evening we drove out to George Boll’s & looked at his cow, then went & stopped in at Roy Staunfbiel & then to Uncle Fred’s awhile. There is Republican Meeting in Kammler’s Hall tonite, Henry went, sandwiches & soda free.
