Monday, April 25, 1932

We washed, ironed today. Papa went out to help Henry finish stretching wire. A man from Collinsville was here & wanted to buy timber. The egg man got 12 doz. eggs for 9¢ today. Mrs. Rennecker & Mrs. Bill Gregson was here Mrs. Gregson orders 4 doz. eggs for setting 14¢ – 56¢. It rained this evening & turned colder. Papa had dinner out at Henry’s.

Sunday, April 24, 1932

We went to Red Bud church, & also went to the hospital to see Mamie Meuth, she got operated for appendix, she is getting along fine. Clem Parker & Aaron Papenberg where here & invited us for the barn dance at George Parkers tonite, Elmer’s 18th Birthday. So we went out this evening. Papa went up town this afternoon. Bertille went up to Lester Gregson’s but there was nobody there, they where at Joe Gregsons.

Thursday, April 21, 1932

It rained this morning. We waxed our dining room floor. Papa took the Whippet to Barthels Garage & got repairs on it. Joe Gregson & Lee where here & looked at the colts again. We planted some tomatoe [sic] plants out this morning. Papa & Rosalia shoe came, & everything is alright. Mrs. Rennecker & the teacher went to Red Bud this evening.

Monday, April 18, 1932

We washed, nice day & Christ Buehler was here, this morning, he came to get his shovel, & looked at the colts. Papa went down to see Jos. Gregson but couldn’t make no trade. This afternoon he went out to Henry’s then to Buehler’s. We washed windows & put the screens on this afternoon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came here awhile this eve, they came from Waterloo, stopped by Henry’s, then came here, they bought a rug for the big room & paint for outside around the rug 12 x 15. They where invited out to Jonny Krehers for birthday party but didn’t go. we didn’t have not invitation. Jonny Wuertz was here & looked at our colts.

Sunday, April 3, 1932

Went to Red Bud. Church in Hecker, this morning is 9 & 11 o clock, because he [Fr. Grootens?] couldn’t be home, he was gone some place. In Waterloo the children are making there solemn communion. Joe Gregson & Lester & Lee & Rob where here looked at the colts, but it was to much money for him. We went out Uncle Freds, for dinner & supper. Henry came there too awhile, he had been up at Floraville to see Kerculeis, he bought his pigs from Henry & a heifer, $15 & pigs $3.00 apiece. Maryben Pickett & family came there too & wanted to rent there house in Hecker, but he won’t rent it out. Mrs. George Wagner called up & said we should come over there for a game of cards, so we & Rennecker’s, Bill Fristche’s, & Autheo [?] Mehrmann where there. Bertille got toothache. Mrs. Wagner was lucky to have 1500 trump.

Sunday, March 20, 1932

We went to Red Bud to church. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here, they had dinner over at there house, & supper here & also Henry’s family where here for dinner & supper. The rabbit laid 4 eggs for the boys, they had lots of fun. There where 2 ladies here bought 4 doz. eggs @ 15¢ doz. This evening after we had supper, Aunt Mary, Rosalia & Bertille went up to Lester Gregson’s & got a dress pattern from here, for Bertille size 34 just fits fine. Aunt Mary went to church, & we played 4 handed pinochle, 2 games & then 1.5 handed when she came back, we had a light lunch, they went home in Hecker stayed all night.

Monday, Jan. 25, 1932

Today is wash & iron & patching. Sewed all our aprons. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came here this evening, they came after Josie, she was down at Ben Heyl’s today, we played 5 & 6 handed pinochle. Lester Gregson is moving to Hecker in Gambach’s house, he moved some today. Aunt Mary said Edwin Watchel’s windows where smashed in, but she don’t know what happened.

Monday, Jan. 18, 1932

Wash day & a nice one. Rennecker’s butchering. We fryed [sic] some liver saussage [sic] in, because it is so warm. Levi Gregson got a jersey cow from Ed. Meng this morn. We went out to Henry’s got our hair cut, papa went up to the woods, Neff’s are making wood up there on halves [?]. Oliver Birkner came here & said we should call Aunt Mary & tell her Josie Keller came along out with Willie this eve, & they should get her. So Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came here first then went there to get her. There was a dance at Chas. Helfrich’s last night. Lawrence Matthews & Pearl Geodelle where published for the first time Sun. they will be married Feb. 3 at Waterloo, dance in evening at Foster Pond.

Sunday, Dec. 6, 1931

We went to Red Bud church. Went out to Uncle Fred’s had dinner & supper there came home did the feeding & went back again in the eve. Henry Birkner’s family, Jim Beese & wife & Groom & wife where there in the eve, Jos. Gregson’s where also there in the afternoon & also Groom & Beese.

Sunday, Nov. 15, 1931

We went to Waterloo church. Then went out to Uncle Fred’s for lunch, dinner & supper. This evening we all went down to Joe Gregson’s, Lizzie Boll was along too. Frank Dudenhoeffer’s, where out, from here they went to Henry’s, stayed there awhile then went back again.
