Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1932

We sold 22 doz. eggs at Belleville for $3.44 some 14¢ & 17¢. George Bernius of Smithon is getting buried this afternoon there, also a sale Sieberts too this afternoon. Not such a nice Wedding day for Pearl & Lawrence Matthews. It rained at Belleville but not here. Henry & Leona the kids, came up 4 o clock, the kids stayed all night, we went along with them to Waterloo to Gus Geodell’s then up to Jac. Goedell’s, then out to Foster Pond’s the Wedding dance & an awful big crowd present. His brother & her cousin where best. Irvin Elbrecht have a little boy born today, seen in the paper.

Sunday, Jan. 24, 1932

Went to Red Bud church. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for dinner & supper. Josie Keller is spending today & tomorrow in Hecker visiting friends. Aunt Mary went to the mission service this afternoon. Henry & family where here this evening playing 5 hand pinochle. Bert Tomphson was here to look at our pigs. Leona said Eliza Freund & Kruse where published for first time this morn. & Pearl Geodell second & Slyvanus Schroeder last time.

Monday, Jan. 18, 1932

Wash day & a nice one. Rennecker’s butchering. We fryed [sic] some liver saussage [sic] in, because it is so warm. Levi Gregson got a jersey cow from Ed. Meng this morn. We went out to Henry’s got our hair cut, papa went up to the woods, Neff’s are making wood up there on halves [?]. Oliver Birkner came here & said we should call Aunt Mary & tell her Josie Keller came along out with Willie this eve, & they should get her. So Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came here first then went there to get her. There was a dance at Chas. Helfrich’s last night. Lawrence Matthews & Pearl Geodelle where published for the first time Sun. they will be married Feb. 3 at Waterloo, dance in evening at Foster Pond.

Monday, Dec. 28, 1931

Jos Braun is bad sick got a stroke. Henry & family came up they left the kids here with Pop & the rest of us went to the funeral. Geodell’s it was very large.

Sunday, Dec. 27, 1931

We out at Aunt Mary’s for dinner & supper, Birkner’s & Buehler’s where there. Went to Rd [Red Bud?] Church morn. Hy. Frishcor’s [Frischkorn] wife was buried afternoon. Went over to Steve’s, Wagners was there too played pinochle. Chas. Geodell died yesterday buried tomorrow afternoon.

Friday, Dec. 25, 1931

Christmas. We went to Red Bud church. Then went out to Henry’s had dinner & supper. Geodell’s & Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary.

Monday, Nov. 9, 1931

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Henry, Ettling, where here digging for a pond, they had dinner & supper, worked 8½ hrs. Eggs are 28¢ today. We called for Dr. Quirin to come out & vaccainte [sic-vaccinate] our pig, the old sow, is starting to get sick now. He charged $10.95, for 10 pigs. Steve Rennecker dug up his sewer today, George Wagner & Louis Dehn helped him. Mrs. Hollerback died & will be buried tomorrow afternoon. Alfred Geodelle’s have a little baby girl. They now have 2 girls.

Saturday, Oct. 17, 1931

Rosalia & Bertille went out to Henry’s, to help cook apple butter, 15 gals.  Henry is sick, bad cold.  We where out there for dinner, lunch.  Mrs. Geodelle was also there.  Papa was at Red Bud at a Stock sale, 85 cattle, they had 2 sale auctioners.[sic]  We got the order from Chicago Mail Order.  Bertille shoes, & paps cap.  Today is Kenneth Kemp’s birthday, the bunch was talking about going there.

Friday, Oct. 16, 1931

The license of Clarence Pabst & 24 & Irene Voges 21 where in the paper, today so a wedding soon.  Vic Eichenseer was here & brought 110 lbs. tankage.  Henry came up & brought a load of corn.  Fr. Grootens was by Joe Watchel’s today.  We all went out to Henry’s had apple puling [sic] frolic, Geodells, Gus & Joe & family, Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, they brought a watermelon along, we had that, cake, cookies & wine.

Saturday, August 8, 1931

Papa was over at Meng’s by the threshing machine this morning, then he went out to Henry.  Bertille did the scrubbing for Aunt Mary today.  Henry & family & Mrs. Geodelle & Raymond, Dick Lanert, where out here threshing, had them for lunch & supper.  Mr. Geodelle came out in the evening.  After we had everything cleaned up we all of us went out to Mrs. Hy. Ronerberg’s birthday party, beer & cake where there refreshments served.  The people came there & left all the time. The Porter Bro. House & Henry Kammler gave a dance in the hall, but they say it is bum there.
