Raining nearly all morn. Leo & family came this afternoon, he went to New Athens to dentist, she stayed here, we made pillows. Seen in Waterloo paper Ed McDermott of Washington have baby boy Charles Luke born Oct. 31 at Washington Providence Hospital. Bill & Bert [Bertille] went to see Bill’s mother & Booby. Fr. Joe Orlet & his dad were here this eve. on business.

We washed, ironed, patched. Pap sewed clover seed, hauled wheat to Waterloo this afternoon, 1 load from here 77 [cents], & 2 loads from Henrys 82 [cents]. top price is 84 [cents]. Bert [Bertille] took eggs to town got 14 [cents]. Lauts tearing house down today. Hoffmann from Belleville nearly all down this eve. Steve Stiffler was here this eve. on business. Sure warm.

Beautiful day again. Went to mass. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stayed awhile; Harry Wittenauer came on business. Henry & family came had supper here this afternoon. We went to Orlet’s, went along with them to Paderborn to closing of 13 hr. Devotion & went back again & played cards. Fr. Brandmeyer made good sermon.

Went to mass. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped awhile after mass. Mr. Nic Cortner & Wiffred were here, on business. Leo came & we all went along out to Henry’s, played cards.

Pap went in the woods, Rose went along as far as Henry’s. Leona is sick again, chills & fever, like she was while back. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, also Mr & Mrs Christ Kern & son Leo & Mr & Mrs Walter Kelley & baby girl, on business. A deaf guy was here with different articles to sell. Pap went out to Henry’s to get Rose this evening; she washed & ironed, Leona was pretty good.

Cloudy this morning. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, him & papa went to Waterloo on business, papa paid off [amount not legible; striked through] to Uncle Fred. Roma Meng was here gathering rubbish.

Rose & Berti spaded the garden over this morning, cut quilt patches this afternoon “Goose Trot” from different goods, sew them in the evening, need 16. Henry came, sewed wheat, had dinner & lunch. Leona is sick in bed, 104 fever, headache & side pain. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this evening, brought some pears along; also some more mullin leaves. Wm. Ganley was here on business. Eggs 25¢, Wheat $1.03.

Rosalia & Bertille went to Red Bud to church, to see the wedding of Herman Geossling & Adelia Wagner, it was a low mass, no boquets [sic – bouquets]. Mr. Slyvester Kaubreck & Frieda Wedel where best; the bride wore, royal blue dress with lace sleeves, & white hat & black shoes, the brides maid wore dark red dress & head band, the men wore dark blue business suits. There where no relation from his side at church, a few of heres where there. Papa went out on business this afternoon, & to Waterloo to get his watch repaired. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary camed up this afternoon, to get a check cashed from Henry’s but they didn’t send it near all, so she wants papa to write a letter to John Hempe at Carrollton Ill.

Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s. Uncle Fred Aunt Mary came here awhile, then they went down to Joe Gregson’s after some more chickens, white ones this time 1½ & 2 for us, 1 for Leona. This evening they came up again & brought Mr. Marshall along, he had business with them, what didn’t quite understand; about Wm. Harbaugh’s land, that fellows going around securing the right of way for the hard roads in St. Clair Co, what goes over to New Athens. Leona stepped in a nail went through her foot; she bathed it & put iodine & turpentine on it.
