Bert [Bertille] helped Rose [Rosalia] washed & ironed etc. Came home this eve. went along back again. Threshing here today & tomorrow. Wiegand’s outfit. Mrs. Martin Sauzek was buried at Paderborn this morn. Walter Stahl & Mrs. Miller were buried yesterday afternoon. Aruelia Sauzek the daughter was taken to hospital also Sun. even couldn’t even be at the funeral.

Pap went out to Henry’s. We cut cabbage in. Leo Kern stopped here, went out to Uncle Freds got his wagon. Leo & family came this eve. & Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came from Eckerts threshing. Mrs. Martin Zauzek died, buried Mon. morning at Paderborn. Walter Stahl died, was out threshing. Clem Schlotmann coming home from threshing was hit by truck, is in Red Bud hospital in serious condition.

Bert [Bertille] went to Leo’s, worked garden, cut lawn. Pap went out to Henry’s first this morn; meeting at Waterloo today again. We got 206 chicks out of our hatch, of 264 eggs. broke quite a few. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up, working garden, brought plants along. Mrs. Jake Watchel of Paderborn died, will be buried tomorrow morn.

Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt Mary] & Bert [Bertille] went to Mrs. Griffins funeral she was 31 yrs. old. pallbearers were Noel Roscow, Gus Frisch, Wm. Harbaugh; 3 fellows from her side, from Freeburg. Had a Solemn Requeim [sic] Mass; by Aydt, Orlet, & Shoemaker, who gave her the Catholic Instructions. Fr. Aydt had a very nice sermon, church was crowded, buried her at Waterloo cemetery were the twins are also buried; 2 girls. Henry came brought the truck & got his car; got $9.25 for his calf. Steve Stiffler came this eve.

It is 5 above this morn. at St. Louis. Emil came & we went out butchering at Henry’s, had dinner & supper. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were also there; Mr. Horn 83 yrs. old was buried this afternoon from his home here, to Stehfests cemetery; we didn’t get there & didn’t see him.

Nice day, cold. Emil came said pap could ride with him to funeral, Reunker went along also, down to house of Hy. Stahleheber, with service in Evangical [sic] church, then to Village cemetery.

Fried in bacon & pork sausage. Henry & Leona went to Belleville with a calf left Billy [Willis] here. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came up after the batteries by Probst’s this evening. We went to Renneker’s, paid up telephone dues, 50 & extra for drop tax; Emil came there & we had pinochle game – 10 games 9 to 1. Mr. Hy. Stahlebeher died, will be buried Sat. afternoon; the bell rang this morn. It is getting awful cold rapidly.

Heavy fog today. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary went home after breakfast this morn. Emil came over to pay the rent to them before they left. We went to mass at Paderborn, of Fr. Teoonine [sic – Toennies], church was filled; & so many priests, all had lunch in hall and at 12:15 was going to leave, burial at Germantown; had honorable & pallbearers. Uncle Fred left there car set at Neff’s lane & walked home the rest of way. Rob & Alice Laut came this eve. we played 7 games pinochle. Pierre was by Osie Neff’s, Myrtle birthday celebration; played games etc. Walter Wittnauer was here with his books again on land.

Went to Red Bud. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came up, went along with us to Leo’s, had dinner & supper there, they drove out with there car opened track & we went out after them some mud. Fr. Teonnies died, going to bring him out to Paderborn this afternoon at house till tomorrow afternoon 3 o clock, take him over to church, funeral Tues. Morn. 9:30 buried at Germantown, they have church at Paderborn to nite devotions by there assistant Fr. Brandmeyer. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stayed in Hecker over nite, played cards, stayed in there house & slept over nite to much mud on the roads.
