Sunday, Dec. 4, 1932

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary was here a little while this morning, they had a different priest here in Hecker, this morn. Fr. Grooten’s is sick, they say. Mr. Ralph Ettling was here this afternoon & paid of $175.00 part interest $25.50 still due. He told us they had the Sheriff out to Wuertz’s to get there dog, they had pined up in the house, sheriff got there dog for them, he went in the house & got it, at night time. The Wuertz’s boy’s jumped on Buddy & the old lady ordered them of the place, Henkel & Buddy, so they left & got the sheriff, to get them dog. Louis Armstutz was here awhile. We went out to Cleveland’s this evening played 6 hand pinochle, Mr. Cleveland & Rosalia & Bertille partners & the other 3 partners, played 4 games, wine & cake, popcorn where served. That solo set out there where at Papenberg’s last night they said.

Sunday, Nov. 27, 1932

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Henry & family where here for dinner & supper. Aunt Mary & Rosalia & Bertille went over to Mrs. Stauenfbiel’s this evening to see the quilt she has in the frame for Irene Neff’s place where she is working. It is called Grandmothers flower garden; it is sure pretty. We went over to Uncle Fred’s & played cards, 5 hand pinochle, played 3 games.

Sunday, Nov. 13, 1932

We went to Red Bud church. Aunt Mary was here awhile before church, she came up with Oscar’s. Ralph Rausch brought the Sun. paper here this morn. It is a beautiful Sunday. Gus Klotz killed a buf yesterday. We went over to Rennecker’s awhile & played pinochle, this evening. Rosalia held 1500 trumps in clubs.

Sunday, Oct. 30, 1932

Hy. Stather & Martin Fahey have shooting matches today. We went to Red Bud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up, but didn’t stay. Henry came up to get skim milk, but he couldn’t get any. It rained all day & nite. Mr. & Mrs. Steve Rennecker came over _ this afternoon, we had played 3 games pinochle, 2 to 1. Bertille held 1500 trump in spades in one deal & papa held 1500 in spades in another deal.

Thursday, Oct. 13, 1932

We cleaned the front rooms & waxed the floors. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this evening, she went to church, & we played pinochle, each one won game, we only played 2 games. They stayed in Hecker, all night. Rosalia got a sack flour $2.20.

Sunday, March 27, 1932

Easter. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed with the boy’s while we went to church. They & Henry & Leona where all here for dinner & supper. The rabbit laid so many eggs. It looked cloudy this morning, but later the sun came out & made it a real nice Easter. We went over to Rennecker’s, this evening, played pinochle. Bertille held 1500 diamonds & won 3 games out of 5. Wagner’s where at Bill Fristche, her & Mrs. Chas. Wagner went together & had a big celebration for all the children that got confirmed, & minister, & all the relation, & childrens parents.

Sunday, March 20, 1932

We went to Red Bud to church. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here, they had dinner over at there house, & supper here & also Henry’s family where here for dinner & supper. The rabbit laid 4 eggs for the boys, they had lots of fun. There where 2 ladies here bought 4 doz. eggs @ 15¢ doz. This evening after we had supper, Aunt Mary, Rosalia & Bertille went up to Lester Gregson’s & got a dress pattern from here, for Bertille size 34 just fits fine. Aunt Mary went to church, & we played 4 handed pinochle, 2 games & then 1.5 handed when she came back, we had a light lunch, they went home in Hecker stayed all night.

Friday, March 18, 1932

It is nice an warm again today. Papa went down to Bert Thompson to see if could make a trade, & then he went to Smithon, to Stell’s farm to see a heifer. Albert Cleveland’s family, Emil & Loui Armstutz where here playing cards this eve. The men played solo & we & rest played pinochle, Grover & Bertille partner, we won 5 games. Bertille had 1500 trump diamonds, & one time 800 kings & 300 pinochle & 100 aces. Rosalia had 1500 spades, pretty good luck. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here awhile, till church time, then went there & then home, they was afraid of there road. It rained awhile, but after ward’s clear off this evening.

Thursday, March 10, 1932

We washed & hung it down the basement, because it started snowing this morn, but turned out to be alright anyway. We finished our quilt & took it out of the frame. Rosalia & Bertille went out to Henry’s this afternoon. He was up in the woods, he hurt his finger, them came back again. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this evening, then we all went to Louis Armstutz’s. Mrs. Jatho wanted to see them, she wanted to rent there house up here for her daughter Lena, from St. Louis, but they won’t rent it out. We played cards by Louis, 6 & 5 hande[d] pinochle. There was a man here yesterday Chas. Jung of Red Bud & bought 17 doz. eggs @ 9½¢, he takes them over to St. Louis & sells them.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for dinner & supper. We played pinochle this afternoon. Mr. & Mrs. Ed Meng celebrated there Golden Wedding 50 yr. Annverisary [sic]. All the relation from both sides where present for supper.
