Tuesday, Jan. 24, 1933

Papa went down to John Braun’s & got our clover seed, little better 2 bus. it made, charges were 25¢. We all went out in the woods this afternoon, stopped at Henry’s, first. Jake & Paul Neff are helping him & schock [sic] corn. Bertille got the mail the order from Chicago Mail Co. came, everything all right. Mr. Jung was here wanted to buy eggs, we didn’t sell a one.

Friday, Jan. 20, 1933

Bertille mailed a letter to Chicago Mail Order for shoes & things for Rosalia. Mr. Chas. Jung from Red Bud was here & wanted to buy eggs, but we sold ours yesterday. Mr. Joe Hilpert & a friend was here this afternoon.

Monday, Oct. 17, 1932

Mr Jung egg man was here & told us about some roosters. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon. Today is Kenneth Kemp’s birthday. Skinny Petri is getting buried this afternoon at Waterloo. Papa fixed a brick wall for flowers all around the house. Clara Wagner & kids came over to see it. George is working out at Ed. Cortners, tomorrow he has to go to Belleville. Uncle Fred went up to see Louis Birkner he is down in bed with rinhmatism [sic – rheumatism].

Tuesday, Oct. 11, 1932

We washed, ironed. Papa is fixing us a table for flowers. Mr. Jung our egg man was here, but he only wanted to pay 22¢ so we didn’t give him our eggs, cause there that here in the store. There was a man here from Dupo wanted to sell fish @ 20 lb. we didn’t take any. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this eve, then we all went to the Democratic meeting in Kammler’s Hall. The Prairie Band of 6 piece furnished the musci [sic], Mr. A. D. Riess of Red Bud addressed the meeting, & Mr. A. A. Brands, & Harry Jackson were the speakers, lunch, of beef sandwiches, & soda. About 400 people where there, from all over. Henry was up to, he brought some potatoes here.

Tuesday, Oct. 4, 1932

Bertille went over to Rennecker’s to exchange papers this afternoon. Henry brought a load of corn up this afternoon. Chas Jung got 30 doz. eggs 20¢. Rosalia sewed jumper for papa. Iromme Rapp is going to Red Bud High School started this week. Geo. Pautlis Jr. had a wedding dance at his home last Sat. night, he married Eliza Roberts from New Florence Mo. Miss Frances Doyle & a guy from St. Louis got married last Sat. Papa took the cream up to Eichenseer’s shipped it over to St. Louis to the Blue Valley Creamery have to pay him 25¢ to take it over, we had 8 lbs on our scale. Bertille got the can again this evening.

Thursday, Sept. 29, 1932

Mr. Jung got 136¾ lbs. spring chickens at 10¢ lb. Papa fixed a corn crib. John Braun called up that our cow got over in his patch. The people are plowing the ground at the church place yesterday & today. Some guys from St. Louis are fixing the house, replastering & talk is out Frank is going to get married before Christmas & moved out there. We went out to Uncle Freds brought them some butter & cheese. Mrs. Geo. Gambach’s have a new Chev. Talk is out that Mrs. John Ambruster left & Lillian too last Friday, they moved to Belleville, furniture & everything, John & Raymond is still on the farm.

Wednesday, Sept. 28, 1932

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came here, then went to Sparta Fair. Mrs. Griffin is awful sick, they took her to the Belleville hospital Sun. morning. Angela Eichenseer got operated on a growth in her nose. Papa & Rosalia went out in the woods & made a few posts. Chas. Jung egg man was here, he say he’ll take all our spring chick tomorrow morning. Henry & family where up this evening, he brought 4 barrels up to the whey place.

Tuesday, Sept. 20, 1932

It is cloudy & rainy this morn. Jung got 14 doz. eggs 18¢. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here. Some guys around buying up eggs, but the peddlar [sic] was just here.

Tuesday, Sept. 13, 1932

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon. Mr. Jung got 18 doz. eggs 16¢ this eve. We shocked & cut 2 rows corn. We went over to Aunt Mary’s this eve. George Wagner’s family came over too. Today is Ed. Parker’s birthday.

Wednesday, Sept. 7, 1932

Miss Bell is 63 yrs. old today. Jung the egg man was here & got 39 doz. eggs at 15¢. Papa cut corn on Uncle Fred’s place, & then he got some whey, 2 barrels for Henry. We are cooking catsup, canning some 4 qts, & 7 qts & 4 pints saurkraut [sic]. We have the cans all filled now. Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s to cut corn there. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up again this afternoon. Shcinder is plowing here. Jung was here & cashed his check.
