Had little rain & cooler now. Bert [Bertille] cut lawn, planted out flower slips. Pap schocked corn & hauled fodder home. Harold Wagner is now operating a gas station on the Phil Braun pump gas tanks. on his premises. Report is that Hugo Probst had purse of $50. stolen from his home.

Nice day. Susie & German band played songs for Rosalia’s birthday tomorrow. Pap went to Red Bud took car to Schneiber’s get it looked at oil changed etc got 573 miles now. Waterloo & Millsdadt [sic] Home Comings, start this eve. with parade. Susie played for Mr. & Mrs. Jerome Cortner also today. German Band announced Millsdadt [sic] home coming on program. Went to Millsdadt [sic], seen parade & it was good large crowd.

Went to Belleville with 2 hogs 405 lbs. $8.70. Pap cut corn got 16 shocks cut. Bert [Bertille] made 3 qts mince meat & canned tomatoes jars are filled now. We went to see Emil Schaefer by Foster Pond, had advertised pigs for sale; but they were already sold. A shower was given Miss Loretta Biffar at her home last Sun. of her approaching marriage to Joe Schaefer who works near E. St. Louis; was given by Anna Weinhoff – Joe’s sister who lives 3 mi. west of Waterloo.

Nice cool morning. Pap went up in woods count trees. Mr. Crocker tin hacking man was here yesterday, wanted to cut in our woods. Hecker Public School begins today. Mrs. Pickett teacher same as last yr. We dug all our potatoes this afternoon. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up, she brought yeast along for Rosalia. We went to Orlets this eve. they were going to come down. The order to Chicago came today, everything O.K. send for a cap for Marita; little to large.

Pap hauled posts, has wood & all hauled now, got corn fodder from U. [Uncle] Freds. Went to barber shop got hair cut & shave. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up again this morn. cutting corn etc. The Wedding picture of Pete Kaiser 31 & Adella Karban 20 was in paper were married last Sat. morn. in St. Louis, in St. Peter & Paul’s Church. Attendants Bertha Karban her sister, & Lawrence Kaiser, cousin to groom. Wore white dress with long veil, carried flowers, Lilies, nice picture. Mrs. Emma Bechtold of Waterloo passed away 57 yrs. will be buried at Waterloo this afternoon; has 4 children, 1 boy Armin, 3 girls Ida Wright, Malinda Valmeyer & only 1 single Viola; also the boy was at home. Arthur Dour & Reickert girl are being married today, dance at Keims, Floraville.

Pap hauled 2 loads wood. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came worked across the street & had dinner here chicken. Bert [Bertille] washed, ironed. Cloudy this eve. thunder. Emil was over awhile. People around are rather Hy. Rausch selling apples with Schwarze from Calhoun Co. selling apples @ $1.25 bu. alful [sic – awful] nice apples they were. Waterloo band played on radio again this eve. last time for having week day concerts in eve. they advertised the Home Coming for next Sun. didn’t come through good to much static, bad weather, thunder rain in St. Louis.

Send a order to Chicago Mail House. Got alalfala [sic] seed 5 lbs. 30 [cents] to sew in hog patch. Eggs 21 [cents]. Susie got $10 for coming here. Pap hauled wood this afternoon. We picked about bu. tomatoes.

Beautiful day cool. Pap got crushing done. Went to Belleville this afternoon. Bert [Bertille] got new fall hat & shoes. Leo & family came.

Nice cool day. Pap cut 3 shocks corn has 10 cut now. Then hauled 2 loads wood, put 1 in basement. Henry & family brought 3 sacks potatoes, then went to Gus Blackburn’s school meeting.
