We had an awful wind storm last nite & rain all morn, & afternoon. Papa got crushing done, he got his hair cut. Mr. Laut is awful bad, they didn’t expect his to live till morning, he doesn’t speak any more. Mr. & Mrs. Geo. Lorberg’s have a 11 lb. baby boy born this morning, they now have 2 girls & boy. We killed a hen, boy! it sure was fat; baked mince pie, devil food & Spice cakes. It rained all afternoon; & boy! I mean it did rain & water.

It sure rained & hail, wind this morn about 2 oclock, lots of rain, every day this week. Today is court again in Waterloo, cases of J. Brauer, Kaisers forclosure [sic] & all that; & Annie Schiender divorce. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up to story over nite in Hecker again, we planted our house flowers out; they look pretty. Cyril brought some flowers, to, cosmos. Clara Wagner & kids came while we where planting; eggs are 10¢ today. We washed both cars, & fixed them up.

Bobby birthday 7 yrs. old; an a pretty nice day. We had frost for 3 morning already. The funeral of Mrs. Frivegolle passed here then yesterday afternoon, from the Peter Rocider’s residence to Round Prairie cemetery & church. We took the brooder stove down & put it in the chicken house now, & carried our chicks out, we counted 404 that we took out. Bertille got the mail, a letter from Creses. It sure is some funny weather, raining & snowing awful. We didn’t get out to the birthday; to much rain. Cleveland came there.

It sure is cold, snow on the ground, some spring days. Papa & Henry & Bill Freund went over to East St. Louis, to get a Chev coach for Henry, Papa took the Whippet over so they could put Henry machine or body of his roadster & hauled it home. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came where here for dinner, he paid his tax some thing like $400.00. Rosalia finished her dress today. Jos. Braun’s case is to come off today at court. Walter Koch was buried at Red Bud in afternoon.

We scrubbed brooder house. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, he stayed here for dinner, & Aunt Mary went to Wm. Birkner’s quilting all day. Rosalia finished her dress. Papa sewed clover seed out there & brought a load of wood along, it is all down now what is sowed. We bought 5¢ cabbage seed & Aunt Mary sewed it this morning. Ino Buehler birthday is today. It got dark & cloudy & rained this afternoon. Mar. 9 & 10 are the 40 ridean [? – unclear] days, can have frosts in 40 day from now. We had a real hail storm for awhile, real big ones too.

It rained a little last night, warm again today. We are baking bread. Rosalia & Bertille went out to Uncle Fred’s this morning had dinner there, made 2 blouse shirts for the boys for Christmas. It got cloudy & black out in the northwest & thunder & lighten, wind, hail rain this evening, & turned cold.

It rained, sleet all day. We shelled corn this afternoon. This evening it started snowing & it didn’t take long the ground was all white. Joe Griffin fixed George Wagner’s telephone today.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went home this morning, then came back again, he burnt all the rubbish over there & she helped fixed Bertille’s dresses. They had dinner with us. This afternoon about 3 o clock it got right black & blue, windy, it was terrible for awhile, everything blew around, hay stack fell over, buckets, blew a window out of Horn’s house, just nearly like a storm, it didn’t last so very long, but rained, hailed a little, got colder towards evening. In Chicago they had snow storm & thunder & lightening the paper says. Papa went to Waterloo this morning there all day. Vic Eichenseer was here & delivered some feed this morning. Mrs. Eichenseer had to go into Waterloo this afternoon, it is court week. Mr. Hill went along in.

It snowed this morn, but didn’t last long, & awful cold. The egg man was here again, he got 18 doz. eggs, at 9¢. they dropped ½¢ again.
