Bert went along with Ivo Buehler to Leo’s, helped ironed, patch, had dinner & supper there went along to Paderborn play tonite. Texas Ranger’s, boy what crowd, players were, Hy. Roth, Al & Bertha Karban, Isd. & Ceceila [sic] Watchel, Sly. Neff, Sy. Louis Schoenborn, Esther Helfrich, Marcella Schilling, Cryil Haudrich, Skaer’s Schoenborn played for dance after play, sure was good. Hermann of Columbia got the mule in trade for cow & pigs $65 booth [sic-both]. Leo has there cow & pigs. Bert Thompson was here, pap was over at Meng’s. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary bought Bert home this eve.

Washed, ironed. Pap went to Belleville with hogs. Wm. Karban was here looking for oats. Leo & Rose came had dinner here, we all went to Henry’s, seen the chix, only got 250 & 130 were dead, surely a mess; Rose’s never came at all, so far; then we went to Columbia to Hermann looked at cows & pigs, made trade, went to Leo & Rose tonite; Mr Orlet, Jake & Is. were there & J. Mueth. Ladies Aid have euchre tonite, but we didn’t go; Fred Wiegand got quilt played by bluey. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up he got prize.

The soap got nice. Bert finished cleaning upstairs, all but washing curtains yet. Pap took dinner along went out in woods with wagon. Sewed some more lettuce, radish & tomatoe [sic] seed, the garden is rather wet. Some guys here from Valmeyer looking for old iron. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, he bought ½ bu. timothy seed 10¢ lb. Mertz has a new electric refrigator [sic] in store, its a dandy. Wheat $1.40. Mrs. Caroline Deueker sold some ground to Geo. Erle seen in paper. also Dr. Pautler bought Kropp land & Chas. Lenhardt place that was sold public auction last Sat. brought $4,986 – 100 acres by Geo. Biffar. Leo & Rose & Mr. Orlet came this evening, also Henry & family. Mertz gave Leo a dripolator for wedding present, its nice; 8 cup size.

We went to Leo, took them along, to Krupps looked at mule, then went to Keorbers looked at 2 old cows he wants to sell then to Hoffmanns cow, but was nobody home there neither at John Rists. Pap went again this afternoon to Hoffmann & to Waterloo. Beautiful day; lot people sewing clover seed, oats & planting potatoes, we noticed along the way. A fellow here wanted to buy timber. Krupp came down this eve.

Easter. Henry & family & Leo & Rose & Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were all here dinner & supper. Men folks played cards. Cool today. Lot people wearing there spring suits & outfits. Krupp of Millsdat [sic] was here looked at horses. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came back this eve. Bert went along to Floraville to dance at Keim’s pretty large crowd music by Waterloo Wild cats; not so good. Schlotmann of Red Bud a baby boy, on Mar. 18; all doing well so they say.

Pap got crushing done. This afternoon went out on business. We went to Rob. Lauts this eve. played cards. Leo & Rose came this morn. pap went along looked at cows, Krupp’s & Grassmanns; but didn’t suit so far. Lent is over at noon today.

Went to services at 8 o clock Red Bud & again at 2 this afternoon; Pretty cold; was 18 last nite. Pap paid Fr. Stern pew rent, flood donation & bake sale donation tomorrow. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came. Bert went along to church with her. Fr. Ratteoman finished it of. Fr. Orlet was there also another priest.

Went to Red Bud mass. Leo & Rose came down had dinner here; Pap & Leo went to Freeburg looked at cows. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & Rose & Bert went along to Belleville; Rose got dress & Mary a hat. Pap & Leo went to Waterloo & Valmeyer looking at cows, stopped in at Waterloo church. Light bill was only $1. this mon. didn’t use it so much.

Rob. is 11 yrs. old today. Rained heavy last nite, cloudy this morn. Cleaned brooder house, etc. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, had been in N. Athens after the quilt, but it was sold to $6.00. They came up this eve. again, we went with them out to Henrys, Rob’s birthday, had cake, Geodells & Leo & Rose were all there; getting cold again. Eggs 21¢.

We went to Belleville this afternoon. pap went to dentist went to Streck’s cold again lowest tonite should be 33. Uncle Fred & Mary stoped [sic] here, nobody home also stoped [sic] at Henry’s. Leona said then they went to Waterloo. Pap got haircut this morn. Seen Leo & Isid. in Smithton, told him we & Henry’s were coming there tomorrow for dinner; if weather is O.K. Eggs came down again 20¢ now.
