Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came again, he helped hauled logs; Pap & him had dinner at Henry’s, was here for supper. Leo & Rose came down this eve. Pretty warm today. Chris Buehler sewed oats & alfalfa clover seed this afternoon. We made some more garden again, lettuce, radishes, etc. it’s wet. Geo Haudrich had 50 hens & 50 bus. wheat stolen heard on the radio, at 5 ‘ o clock; have the guys at Belleville jail the wheat was indentifed [sic] at Waterloo Milling Co. he said. Leo said last Sun. morn. in fron of S. Stiffler’s house, they had a stuffed man, hanging on telephone wire & on there vote for Stiffler School director, sure play some trick who ever put it up, was hanging for several day’s they said, he received 1 vote Sat. at the school election at Paderborn.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this afternoon, started making garden. Bert sewed beets, carrots & cabbage seed. We went out to Uncle Adam’s & Emil’s awhile this evening beautiful, warm. Mr. Quathamer of Lord’s Corner died will be buried to-morrow afternoon at Lord’s Corner. Querheims Undertaker in charge.

The soap got nice. Bert finished cleaning upstairs, all but washing curtains yet. Pap took dinner along went out in woods with wagon. Sewed some more lettuce, radish & tomatoe [sic] seed, the garden is rather wet. Some guys here from Valmeyer looking for old iron. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, he bought ½ bu. timothy seed 10¢ lb. Mertz has a new electric refrigator [sic] in store, its a dandy. Wheat $1.40. Mrs. Caroline Deueker sold some ground to Geo. Erle seen in paper. also Dr. Pautler bought Kropp land & Chas. Lenhardt place that was sold public auction last Sat. brought $4,986 – 100 acres by Geo. Biffar. Leo & Rose & Mr. Orlet came this evening, also Henry & family. Mertz gave Leo a dripolator for wedding present, its nice; 8 cup size.

We went to Leo, took them along, to Krupps looked at mule, then went to Keorbers looked at 2 old cows he wants to sell then to Hoffmanns cow, but was nobody home there neither at John Rists. Pap went again this afternoon to Hoffmann & to Waterloo. Beautiful day; lot people sewing clover seed, oats & planting potatoes, we noticed along the way. A fellow here wanted to buy timber. Krupp came down this eve.

St. Patricks, nice day, snow is nearly all gone. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went into Belleville to see Mrs. Buehler this morning & also went over to N. Athens but couldn’t get the quilt yet, the show won’t be over till Sat. nite being bad weather; but she got the money for the stitched quilt $7.50, that one gone to St. Louis already, they had dinner here. Uncle [Fred] went to Waterloo got oiled changed in his car, & she helped Bert fixed her dress. Ralph Collier was here awhile. Burckhardt & Eppineger horse traders of Waterloo were here, coming back tomorrow evening again. Nobody planted potatoes today, I don’t think. There is St. Patricks dance at Oak Grove, & a free one at Donahues tonite.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, went along with us to Red Bud to Sl. Doyle’s funeral he was 34 yrs. old sick quite awhile, 3 weeks today there he was taken to the hospital, he leaves his wife & 2 children, 4 yr & 6 yrs. of age, we didn’t go to the cemetery, made it to late, they had dinner here then went to Waterloo took Leona & Billy along to Chas. Geodelle’s funeral was also very large; & beautiful bouquets. We planted about 68 cabbage plants this eve. for 10¢ at Schmidts; getting colder tonite, sleeting. Waterloo Church had 40 hr. Devotion last week ending Sun. nite. Ben Schilling returned home from a week sightseeing in Colorado. Geo. Schilling has for sale Omers chev. coupe, wagon, corn cultivator harrow, gas engine; to sell reasonable; its advertised in the paper.

Beautiful day. Pap hauled load wood in the basement; this afternoon went out & helped Henry sewing oats. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped went to Smithton. Mrs. And. Mueth was here, looking for seed oats. Bert made garden planted onion sets, radishes, peas, lettuce. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came Bert went along to the wake of Mr. Chas. Geodelle, 87 yrs. old; out at the house; so many people coming & going, will be buried tomorrow afternoon at Waterloo; & church. Sly. Doyle died & is to buried tomorrow morning at Red Bud, he was operated on appendix a couple weeks ago. Henry & family came this eve. A man around selling apples, bought pt. 50¢.

Cold this morn. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came took Bert along to New Athens to see the quilt show, about 68 quilts are on display. We worked in the garden, made paths & spaded a piece. Aunt Mary stitched quilt is sold $7.50. to a party from St. Louis; there is so many pretty quilts present. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this evening. Bert went along to church service with her, Fr. Rattermann has the sermon.

Pap got crushing done. Went to see Wm. Wiegand. This afternoon went to Adam’s sale on Jenning Farm in Lord’s Corner, bought 5 doz. fruit jars 2¢ a piece; he brought a sewing machine along for Rob. Lauts & wardrobe for Watchel’s, he had the truck so he just brought these things along. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stoped [sic] they went to Belleville, they sewed lettuce, cabbage & radish seed. This evening they came up & Bert went along to Waterloo to Quernheim to see Mrs. Peter Matzenbacher who died Thurs. will be buried tomorrow; she is so delicate, doesn’t look like herself. She was 48 yrs. old; & has been suffering quite some time. Henry stopped got crushing done; brought pictures along up; he started in sewing oats this morn; lot people started today.

Bert ironed & quilted, sewed lettuce seed & planted sweet potatoes, Pap hauled load wood. Mees from Columbia was here, bought the one horse planter for 25¢. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped went over to New Athens, took two quilts over, on display, quilt show from 8 to 3. Ed Weber came wanted corn planter, but it is sold & gone now.
