We planted our trees out this morning. Papa went to Barthel’s & got the Chev., oil & greased. Bertille went up to Eichenseer’s, Mamie is going along with us to Red Bud to the euchre, tonite, Rosalia had 11 points got dresser scarf, papa had 7 points, but didn’t get anything & Bertille had 3 points Mamie had 5. They had nice prizes & lot of them, they also played 500 & lotto. The preist [sic] is having a free dance tonite or card, games, all free, in the School Hall. Ed. Pabst brought a load of corn. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon.

We went to Red Bud church at 6’o clock mass. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for dinner. Henry came up this afternoon & him & Rosalia went around town selling beef, he sold to a good many here. We took 10½ lbs, he sold it at 10 & 12¢ lb. He killed it this morn, Osie Neff did it; tomorrow morning, he is going to take the rest to Waterloo. Mrs. Robert Laut & Marcella Boll went over to Uncle Fred’s place this afternoon but they where over here, they didn’t come over. Mamie & Clarence came down tonite, he brought his needle work along down; we played euchre, & ate popcorn.
Wednesday, Oct. 26, 1932
It is cool this morn, after the rain yesterday. Bertille went to the dentist this morn, got one finished & this afternoon got 3 more filled, & he cleaned them too, for $11.50. Septore from E. St. Louis stopped again & took 6 doz. eggs along, 25¢ doz. The Evangelical Ladies Aid are having a euchre at Kammler’s Hall this eve. We all went, 25¢ don. [donation] We went up to Mamie’s first & she went along over. Papa & Rosalia got prizes, a dish, & lemon squeezer, Papa had 5 points & Rosalia 7, Bertille 4 & Mamie had 4. It wasn’t a very large crowd at all. 11 tables in euchre, & about 25 bluey players. It started in to rain after we got home. Papa got Int. from Hempe.
Thursday, Oct. 20, 1932
We took our turnips in this afternoon. The Belleville National Bank got robbed of $8 or $10,000 at noon today. It is on 12 West Main St. Bertille was up town this afternoon, spoke a few words with Mamie & Emil. Clarence Wagner came back here again to Eichenseers today, tomorrow he is going to school up here, he says he couldn’t stay there no longer, he didn’t like it. Mamie is making a quilt somewhat like ours, stitched.

Bertille went up to the Dentist got another treatment put into kill the nerve. Mary Grossheim was also there. Papa went out to Walter Wittenauer & took a bus. of big potatoes along & traded for a bu. of sweet potatoes, big ones. He stopped in at Chris Buehler’s. Henry ordered 30 bus. seed wheat from Buehler. Rosalia went up town got the cream check & can, this time we had 10½ lbs. cream, test 3.9, butterfat 4 & price 180 lb. .72¢. Eichenseer didn’t charge for taking it along this this time. The other time he charged 25¢ to take it along & it was 8½ cream butterfat 3, test 41 price 19¢ lb. .57¢

We didn’t wash, it is rainning [sic] a little this morn, & is awful cloudy. Mr. Hill was here to gather news this morning. Rosalia sewed a jumper. Bertille went over to Renneckers & got the paper. We took the cream & 41 lbs. hens to Eichenseers this evening. Papa paid Frances Eichenseer for 100 bus. coal $13.00 today.
Thursday, Oct. 6, 1932
Francis Eichenseer was here & looked if he should get here with his truck, he is going to bring a load afterwhile. Papa is going to Waterloo & to Ed. Rehlings to see the building of a straw hen house, he said there were a good many people there. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon, Rosalia & Bertille had lunch over there. We picked 2 sacks full green tomatoes & they took them along for Ronnerberg. Odillo & Wilfred onloaded the coal, 100 bus. $13.00. Mrs. Kock is having a birthday celebration tonight at Coxeyville, we didn’t go, we had an invitation & it was also in the paper.

Bertille went over to Rennecker’s to exchange papers this afternoon. Henry brought a load of corn up this afternoon. Chas Jung got 30 doz. eggs 20¢. Rosalia sewed jumper for papa. Iromme Rapp is going to Red Bud High School started this week. Geo. Pautlis Jr. had a wedding dance at his home last Sat. night, he married Eliza Roberts from New Florence Mo. Miss Frances Doyle & a guy from St. Louis got married last Sat. Papa took the cream up to Eichenseer’s shipped it over to St. Louis to the Blue Valley Creamery have to pay him 25¢ to take it over, we had 8 lbs on our scale. Bertille got the can again this evening.

A man around selling a patent to clean bottles & jars & things for 10¢, we took one; people here wanted to buy eggs & chickens we, had ours sold already. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up, he got his pump fixed by Eichenseer’s. Mr. Ed. Pabst was here brought 7 bus. potatoes. Ralph Ettling was here. The alarm ring went over the line stating that Dr. Isslehardt dentist was going to start in Hecker in Maniers place next Wednesday Oct. 5, office hours 9 to 5, opened on Wed. only. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up again this evening went to Mike Armstutz’s birthday. Mr. Stiehl is celebrating his birthday at Weber’s barn tonite.
