Papa & Rosalia went out to Sensel’s to get the corn made 3 trips. George Wagner came told us our telephone rang. Our cow what pap bought yesterday jumped the fence, went through Meng’s field, by Chas. Hepps then out to Buehlers, they tied it up there. Chris bought the cow from us again for $10.00 so it can stay there. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this morn, he helped with the last load of corn; 45 bus. & 45 lbs. corn @ 24. $10.56. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up again this afternoon. Papa & Uncle Fred went to Waterloo & paid tax. $267.56. eggs are 9¢ today. Aunt Mary, Rosalia & Berdell went over by Mrs. Stauenfbiel awhile this afternoon, got a pattern. Zita was home today; till Sunday. George Boll was here & looked at our pigs, he engaged a fat one.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for lunch & dinner. Uncle Fred & Papa went to Waterloo on business. eggs 9¢. Mr. Hill came brought us a new telephone directory & took the old one back; there is a few changes in the new book, Clarence Hepp printed them, he has that business for himself now, does all kind of printing. Mr. Rennecker was here to show Rosalia how to vote, brought a sample ballot along. Papa went to Hecker this evening. There was a fire out at the bridge last nite about 7:30, did about $60 damage. Karl Boll was supposed to tend to everything there, now he is laid off. Hy. Emery has a steady job for a mo. to be wathman [sic – watchman] at night of the tools & things pertaining to the road; & grease the tools all for $30.00 mo.

We went to 9 o clock mass. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up, went to Bellville [sic] this afternoon. We went to Waterloo, took our eggs in got 9¢, went to church there.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed awhile this afternoon we went out to Henry’s stopped took them along, went over to Dan Geodell’s & looked at his wagon, then went to Alois Havey but he wasn’t home either, then came back home again. There was a lady stopped here for 5 doz. eggs. 10¢, & one stopped for 11½ lbs. hens, 10¢, 2 hens. The cars sure driving today, it is nice. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went to Henry Birkner this evening, wedding anniversary. Bill & Philip, & Mrs. George Freund & Josie; where at Uncle Freds this afternoon. It is 2 yrs. today grandma Geodelle died.

We cooked a kettle of soap again. eggs 9¢. We cut lawn, put out a sign for sale, eggs & hens. A lady around selling extracts again today, we didn’t buy anything. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, her, Rose & Bert went to church. Hy. Wedel Jr. guessed the closest to how many chevs where sold in 1932; the right number sold was 322,860 & he guessed 223,454 just 594 out of the way. They beat was Dr. Werth & H. B. Church. Wedel could either $50.59 radio huts [unclear – ed. note], or $50.00 to a purchase of a New Chev. Hecker had bus here this morning at 7,0 clock.

We washed, ironed, scrubbed basement, this morn. Papa & Rosalia went to Waterloo took load wheat along & eggs are 9¢, wheat 48¢. Bertille stayed at Henry’s, made a little garden, Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where there too, they brought seed potatoes up. Robert was in bed, had a few pimples, thought it might be measles. Wilma Reheis has them. Papa took chickens to the store 54 lbs. 8¢ lb. & had to pay tax on the things what he bought. It is terrible windy this afternoon.

Papa & Rosalia went to Belleville, took roosters got 6¢ & eggs 9¢; brought Uncle Freds victrola & 42 records along, for a pitcher & bowl. We cleaned the front room, dyed the curtains. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon, from here they went to Waterloo to Dr. Pautler & got her ears blowed out. We went out to there place & took the victrola out. It is a most beautiful day. Mrs. George Wagner & the kids came over to see our little chicks; she got 3 moles. There was a lady here from Red Bud, Milly Brown selling hosiery; for men, women & children.

A man around selling all kinds of articles this morn, we bought 3 pairs shoe strings for 10¢. We washed, ironed, patched, made garden, put out onions. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up this afternoon. A man stopped & took 4 doz. eggs for 10¢ there 84 in stove. There where 3 people here from Freeburg looked at our mule.

Henry came up & got the hog. Papa & Bertille went to Belleville to a sale at the Merchants Transfer Storage Co; 3 different lots where sold, one bringing $75 – $85 – $80. We bought a buffet from the party that bought the lump for $5.00, it is nice. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where there too, she got a spring for $2.00; that is all we bought, took 24 doz. eggs along & got 9¢ in part trade. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had dinner here; we got a jig saw puzzle of 200 pieces with a lb. coffee & .01 so we took one, boy! some puzzle. Mr. & Mrs. Joe Watchel & family, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Laut & family where here this evening playing pinochle; 6 handed. Henry Birkner’s have a little baby girl born this eve. it is also Oliver Birkners birthday it is to be christened tomorrow afternoon, Christ & Frieda Buehler sponsors. They called it Valeita Frieda.

We washed & ironed, cleaned the chick pen in the basement & sprayed it. Henry was up & brought load of corn, there where some guys here to sell fish ready dressed 20¢ lb; we didn’t take any. Papa plowed & harrowed the potato patch this afternoon it isn’t so cold today. Eggs are 9¢ at Eichenseers. A fellow was here trying to sell light plants. It rained heavy this evening.
