Papa got crushing done. We went to Waterloo paid Wiehl for 165 bus. 55 lb. corn $41.65. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here. It is such a beautiful day, like spring. Cleveland sawed wood. Mres. Aruleia [sic – Aurelia] Allard of Prairie Du Rocher, nee Parrot, died last Sun, in Red Bud hospital, they have a store; leaves Mrs. Parrot & 3 child & sister.

Rosalia & Bertille went out to the Blackburn School to there Christmas program; that they had, it was nice, Santa Claus, Cleveland was there, & lots more, & crowded. Rosalia got Christmas parcel from J. Keller, a curling iron. Helfrich brought the last of the corn today. Rosalia & Bertie went up to see Angela this evening, played 500 rummy & pinochle; Lucinda is getting along fairly well. has her head bandaged.

Papa went out to Nic Shaefer’s, took him long up to Henry’s, looked at the hog, traded to him for 4 pigs. Mr. Schaefer came this afternoon & pap & him went out & got him. Henry took the sausage to Waterloo, Mrs. Cleveland, stayed there with the boy’s, cause Willis has a cold. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, we quilted, & Uncle Fred clean garden; we baked cookies this morn, hauled water in the cistern from Uncle well. Pap went to see Greenever’s clocking corn on Hepp’s land, they sell it at 35¢ bu. Ad. Rittmeyer intened [sic] buying from him. The Eliza. Ganley heirs are selling the place on Jan. 6, public.

Papa went out helped Henry saw wood. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, we help her quilt awhile, then him & Rosalia started fire for butchering, 10’oclock. They had dinner & supper here. We started butchering 185 lb. hog this afternoon, finished about 4 o clock. Mr. Nic Helfrich & Isa. hauled load corn, 41 bu. 50 lbs., he bought the liver for 25¢. Emil was here wanted block & tagle for butchering tomorrow, but it is out at Henry’s. Miss Josie Keller went to Lizzie Boll’s & rang up, then drove down here, she was at Red Bud today; we saved the kidney & snoots for her to eat; she bought $1.00 took it along, liver, pork, blood sausage.

We washed, ironed. Oscar Klotz was here, to see if we wanted to buy corn. Klotz has some to sell; for 40¢ bu., but we got ours now. Mr. Hill was here gathering news for the paper. It is an awful nice day, warm. Josie Keller is spending, Sun. & Mon. at Ben Heyl’s & Tues. at Triveollers at Red Bud, then she is going back home again. Kenneth Kemp got a new coupe Pontiac cars. We sawed wood this afternoon. Henry, Cleveland, Emil. Uncle Fred helped. Aunt Mary stayed here, we put her quilt in the frame across the street, they had supper here, then we played 5 hand pinochle.

Papa & Rosalia went out in the woods; got some up for butchering, Cloudy weather. Gus Geodelle is celebrating his birthday which is tomorrow, tonite in the bus shop at Waterloo, concrete floor. Henry & family came left the kids here, we went along, cake, pretzels, keg beer where served, small crowd, men paid 30¢ each. Geodell’s band. Wagner’s & Rennecker, came here didn’t stay long. we wasn’t home. Mr. Nic Helfrich & Isadore, hauled 50 bus. corn for us from Papenberg’s, 2¢ bu. for hauling. Papa paid 25¢ for the corn, they weighed it out there.

Nice day, warm. Henry & family & Mrs. Cleveland, came left Willis here, they went to Bellville [sic], bought for Christmas. Mr. Louis Whiel was here, to see dad, about the corn, on Reheis’s farm, the 1/3 of Papenberg’s, papa can get it for 25¢ In. & pay for weighing. Wagner & Herman funeral home, in the Crowe Building was opened up, Sat. & Sun. for visitors. They have remodeled thing’s, builded, some to it. Miss Lucille McCarthy has sprained her ankle, & is now confined to her home at present. Found 14 eggs today.

All Souls Day, went to 6 o clock mass at Red Bud, then went to Belleville, 9 o clock mass at Catherdal [sic], went to the stores, then came home. Henry & Floyd brought load corn. It rained this afternoon, a good shower. Our cistern was dry. It got cold.
Saturday, Oct. 28, 1933
Henry brought load corn. Papa got crushing done, We all went to Waterloo. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary was there to, at Max Schliebe’s Sale bought box full buttons 15¢; things went cheap. We drove out to see Toenjes to see about some corn, he has for sales 40¢ bu. Ettling brought our 3 heifers up, while we were gone.
