Went to 6 mass at Red Bud, then went to Belleville. Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary had dinner here. They bought a radio victrola at Belleville at Lurtz’s for $15 complete set. Hecker was represented at Belleville too & also Paderborn, Evansville.
Thursday, Dec. 3, 1931
Rosalia & Bertille went to Parkinson’s funeral. Odillo Eichenseer drove Jatho’s machine with the mourners. There where just the two daughters. It wasn’t a very large funeral. The priest went along out to the cemetery & buried him. The egg man paid 30¢ & took some saussage [sic] along with him. Joe Mueth of Belleville his home was raided, found, whiskey, beer, & wine. He is a cripple so they didn’t do much with him.

We went to Belleville this morn. Papa went to Red Bud this afternoon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary took Josie to Belleville this afternoon, she wants to visit by Faust, then go to St. Louis.

Thanksgiving. We went out butchering at Uncle Fred’s today. Him & Papa went over to Chris. Buehler’s to get the hogs, 2 of them for 5¢ lb. Rosalia & Bert took his machine & went out. Oscar Birkners family where also there. We had the first snow this yr. & hard, rain this eve, & colder. We had lunch & dinner there at Aunt Mary’s. The way we heard Clarence Hepp & Lillian Thouevenot where married today & also a couple down at Red Bud, a Ratz girl & Bogard from Belleville.
Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1931
It rained last night. There is to be a turkey & goose raffle in the church, or School Hall tonight. We went to Belleville done shopping. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary was here. Jac. Neff, was here to see about Henry butchering a beef tomorrow. Ed. Parker came & was here till about 11:30, the kids where at the school hall, he came on business. We sold 20 lbs. sprs. at 14¢ at Belleville today. It is turning cold now.

We went to Red Bud church this morn. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here awhile. This afternoon we went to Belleville & visited Frank & Joe Hilpert family.
Saturday, Nov. 21, 1931
Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for dinner, he pumped the water out of the cellar first, then they went to Belleville. Henry was up & got his sow again.
Friday, Nov. 20, 1931
It is raining, & all day. Henry & family came up, the kids stayed here & they went to Belleville with meat, but couldn’t sell a lb, sold 1½ eggs. they all had dinner here. Then we through Red Bud to Waterloo to try to sell it there. The creeks where all out this morning.
Friday, Nov. 13, 1931
It rained nearly all night. Uncle Adam come, Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, we all went into Belleville to Jenny Kemp’s funeral, they took her from the Gundlach Chapel to St. George’s Episcopal Church, then to the Village cemetery of Hecker, Emil was one of the ballpearber, [sic-pallbearer] only one from around here. It wasn’t a very large funeral.
