Pap went up in woods this afternoon, brought load wood along home. Mehrmann got 8 doz. eggs. 14 [cents]. H. Birkner was here selling seeds. Bert [Bertille] bought cabbage. Jenning of Milsdadt [sic] road was here looking at horses; There sure has been an awful rain & floods at Los Angeles Cali. for last 4 das. raining heavy, terrible storms, so many killed & missing.

Ironed. Aunt Mary is 60 yrs. old today. They came this evening & we went along to Red Bud to euchre, Uncle Fred had 9 points got apron, pap 8 & Bert 7, but didn’t get no prize; Leroy Siefert got attendance prize, magazaine [sic] table; pillow slips that were raffled were won by Mrs. Otto Huch. There is to be 200 people from Cairo brought into Red Bud tonite, in Gym. left 400 at Chester, also took train load to St. Louis they say.

Rose came down helped wash, brought theres along, had dinner here & Bert went along back, we all went in to Belleville this afternoon. Isd. stayed in by Fr. Orlets for the present till he finds a job. Beautiful day. A fellow here for something to eat. Sure terrible flood in Eastern states, everything under water; one place were just the church steeples can be seen, & sickness with it also, Cairo had 24 hrs. to move out this morn. & afternoon has 2 ft. level already, they want to dynamite the river there, all through Ohio, Kentucky, Tenn. all places, they take 600 [people] off every town they pass through in boats & place them in Churches, school houses etc. Gertie Cortner came, to see Bert awhile this evening she works by Monike.

Creeks are all out. Raining all day. We went out to Henrys had dinner, papered the front room, didn’t quite finish, Emil came down a little while after dinner. Karl Boll’s moved from Jac. Neffs house in town out to J. Henkel’s place again.

The creeks are out nearly all over this morn. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Henry & family where all up for dinner & supper. Henry came up with the buggy, the road is awful bad, it is just about all that they can get through with horses at the hills. Wittenauer hauls the milk with the wagon. The rabbit laid eggs by George Wagners & here this afternoon. Mr. & Mrs. Levi Gregson & Agnes was here this evening. Mary Wagner had a big surprize [sic], her brothers & sister & family, celebrated her birthday 43rd at George Wagners today, all Kammler’s, Fritsches, Mehrmann’s.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for dinner, he pumped the water out of the cellar first, then they went to Belleville. Henry was up & got his sow again.
Friday, Nov. 20, 1931
It is raining, & all day. Henry & family came up, the kids stayed here & they went to Belleville with meat, but couldn’t sell a lb, sold 1½ eggs. they all had dinner here. Then we through Red Bud to Waterloo to try to sell it there. The creeks where all out this morning.
