Bertille cleaned house this morning. We made some sweet chow-chow this afternoon & also some piccalilli. One of our white young pullets died today. Rosalia & Bertille went to church this evening. Rosary Devotion again. When we came out of church it just started pouring down raining. Tonight is also the Literary Meeting down in the Public School House. Speakers are H.M. Hill, Wm. Wiegand, Dr. Bock from Smithton & Greg McCarthy teacher.

There are shooting matches for geese and turkeys and ducks all over again today. Mrs. Threfall has one for geese. Alfred May, Wm. Reagan & a good many others. Henry and family stayed for dinner then afterwards went home. They was supposed to come back to Pete Reheis that Frank Dudenhoeffer was coming out from St. Louis. Mr. Louis Dudenhoeffer and wife and son and wife were here a little while then they went back to Reheis too. He wasn’t in this country around here for 40 years. They was at our house about a half an hour. Hecker played their last baseball game today with Floraville for this season. Hecker won 12 to 1. Rosalia and Bertille went to church, Rosary Devotion this evening. There was a man here from E. St. Louis here and wanted to buy some eggs, so we sold him 6 doz. for .27¢ a doz. Pours got the baby christened Ethel.

Harry Kammler is having a dance again tonight in the Hall. Papa went to Waterloo today. Leona & Bobby were here a little while this afternoon. There wasn’t such a crowd at Kammler’s dance tonight, any how there weren’t many cars parked down this away. We found 40 eggs today. Bertille took 3 doz. off and got .25¢ for them. Bertille went to church this afternoon.

Today is Uncle Pete Reheis birthday. Mr. Hill has a few men working on a sewer, they are going to dig a new sewer on South Main Street. Henry & Emil were here this afternoon, they and Papa went to Sitchefest to get a drill. Henry bought it for $2.00. He broke his old one that he had, so he got this one. Henry has about 20 acres of wheat sewed now. A St. Louis Baseball team played the Hecker team here Sunday. Hecker won 3 to 6. Last Wednesday they got Delbert Meuth from the hospital in St. Louis. Rosalia & Bertille went up to Mamie Eichenseer and then all of us & Angela went to the meeting in the new school hall. After the meeting was over, Father said to take the chairs to one side and then we could dance. So we did. Isadore Helfrich & Edgar Wittenauer furnished music with the accordion & we also had the victrola music to dance on. We came home at 15:11.

Rosalia and Bertille washed, ironed, patched today. There is Rosary Devotion tonight in church. Rosalia and Bertille went to church this evening, there wasn’t very many people there. Tonight Wishkamps have a dance & don’t know if it is public or private. Mrs. Rennecker came back today from down at Klotz’s, but she has to go back to Dehn’s again now. We found 34 eggs today.

Today is shooting matches all over. Hepe Bros. at St. Joe. Hy. Eichelmann, and many other places. A ambulance went through town this morning. The St. Augustine’s Parish is to have a euchre tonight, they called over the lines for it. Papa & Rosalia each got a prize at the euchre, a dresser scarf & wall flower vase. Bertille had 4 punches. Rosalia 8 & Papa 7. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary both had 7’s. They each got a prize too. They took a watermelon & a box of sweet potatoes there for prizes. Elmer Parker got the watermelon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this evening a little while before the euchre. Uncle Fred ate a little supper with us, we were just ready to ate when they came. There sure was a crowd at the euchre they had 25 tables. They had a electric radio victrola in the ball for music. We found 38 eggs today.

Rosalia went to church this morning. Papa hauled 2 loads of coal this morning. They took Delbert Meuth son of Nick Meuth to the hospital one day last week, where he will be operated on appendix. Mrs. Lorberg is staying with him in the hospital. Papa hauled 5 loads of coal this afternoon. Henry called up and wanted to know if Rosalia could take Leona to Waterloo to the doctor this afternoon, so she took her in. Leona went out to get the mail yesterday afternoon & she ran back to the house & stumbled & cut a big gash in her chin down to the bone. The doctor put a piece of plaster over it to heal, if it don’t heal shut that way then she will have to get it sewed together. I seen in the Times, that Clyde Crowe & Walter Schmidt left last Tuesday for Ada Groves, Iowa to visit with Schmidts relatives. We found 3 dozen eggs today.

Rosalia went to church this morning. George Reheis brought our lime dust spreader back again. Today is Mrs. Oscar Birkner’s birthday & also chicken supper in Paderborn. Papa hauled a load of coal this morning & this afternoon took some tile to Belleville for Fr. Grootens & then he brought another load of coal along back. Rosalia took 8 doz. eggs off & got .25¢ a doz. She bought 2 1/2 yds. of table cloth for $1.65. I seen in the paper that Ike Napier moved his family & household goods to a farm by Paderborn, one of Knapp’s places last Thurs. Ike is going to work for Knapps. Mr. & Mrs. Martin Fritsche celebrated their golden Wedding last Sunday.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Henry & family were all up for church this morning & went back home again. Ed Meng was over a little while this evening. There sure were a lot of cars passed here today.
